Guile is surprisingly strong against sent. You dont have to charge his flash kick in the air and it has a gigantic projectile that knocks sent out of the air. So if you super jump and immediately flash kick then it keeps sent out of the air
I understand why Shuma Gorath is in the Low Tier but he is my favorite character in this game. I use them with Gambit and normally Juggernaut because their three main super attacks chain really well into each other.
Dhalsim is underrated imo. I think the fact he can call assists from super jump height and stall at the time similar to storm while having that magneto speed is very valuable. His biggest issues imo is that he is hard to execute and he is pretty picky about who he teams up with imo.
Just got into mvc2, it's so fun! I never thought I'd like it I've always been against crazy power levels and too long combos but this has been a very refreshing experience
I honestly feel like Ruby Heart is very viable in competitive play especially since how not many people play her so theres alot of hidden tech that can be discovered with her. Shes such a super underrated character and i may be biased since shes my main but i always seen her potential
Ruby actually has an infinite, it does require a bit of practice but she doesn't need assists to do it. Should you drop the combo, you can recover safely and try again. Ruby's crouching hk is a great control tool. It's deceptively fast, and can hit mutiple characters at once. You can stop supers and almost all assists. It can be hard to get combos off of it without assists though; and it isn't really spamable, but it can also let you crouch lower during the attack animation (similar to sonson's crawl move). Ruby also has a glitch! It involves her qcf move. If you do the normal version to it's limit, then the super version to it's limit, while going up to the top of the screen as much as possible, you might "exit" the stage for 10 seconds (leaves the world) . However I managed to pull this off on the dreamcast version; not sure about the other versions.
Other Characteristics: *Heavy* *Characters:* Hulk, Juggernaut, Sentinel, Mecha Zangief?. Won't be as airborne from certain attacks from the opponent. *Chip* *Damage* *On* *Regular* *Attacks:* Jin, Hulk, Sentinel. Most or all attacks perform chip damage. I don't hear much about the unique traits that lies within this game.
Maaaaaan, everyone's getting so hype about this and trying to get me to play it but seeing almost every character I was interested in playing below even *viable* is just depressing lmao
Many people don't play at a high enough level to stop you from playing who you want. Sent and Magneto often are predictable. There are a lot of MSP copycat scrubs that know one combo and that's it. Once you get experienced, you can play around it more than you think. 🎉
13:07 That Felicia grab does great damage, however I believe there's also a bug where it gives the opponent much more meter than they're supposed to on hit.
Great video, got a chance to play MVC on an arcade machine and every time I play it I remember how fun this game is, and MVC2 is even better than MVC, perfect timing for this video lol
How bad is Roll? I can't tell you anything about how to play MvC2 and yet I still know that Roll is the worst. That should tell you something. I assume.
Nice video but I believe you misspoke about Silver Samurai's best ability. His Ice stance is so damn underrated and the fact he can stack up his power ups is OP because if he stacks 3 or more and goes for his Ice special than that’s GGs also he builds meter easy
Like Sentinel both Roll and Servbot have combos that only work on them, so because servbot kinda has a niche of a play style I honestly would put roll in a tier below trash. Roll Tier is real.
Such a helpful take. I had the game and when it blew up I was trying to focus on Tekken. I would hear guys argue about match ups and all that when I was younger here in NYC at CTF. This gives a ton of context behind the arguments lol Made it to the end btw. I'm casual but I wanted to know who I wanted to run if some sweatlord wants to try to bully me at a house party or something. 😅
I would love to see a video going over what it takes to make a coherent team, for newer players like myself who will be playing for the first time in the re-release
I really want to see a ratio system that differentiates assists. There are clearly many characters who could drop one or more tiers when not using their best assist.
One thing not mentioned on Juggernaut is his oppressive assist, two of them are great at locking down opponents but also do good damage especially with the power up glitch.
He forgot to mention Felicia's supers which are pretty good like her sand splash super which puts opponents in the corner, and her please help me super that can be looped in the corner for insane damage.
Spiral is one of my top 3 characters. I'm surprised you didn't mention that she's probably the fastest teleporting character in the game. Very spammable teleport move that lets you essentially dodge most attacks.
Have always wondered what it would be like if MvC2 were balanced to the high/mid tiers instead. A ton of characters seem "viable" if not for the toppest of top tiers just dominating.
So I ended up learning how to play the worst team comp in MvC2: Servbot, Roll, Dan. So, these characters are absolutely terrible, but they all have redeeming qualities… barely. Servbot’s Balance Super really is good, it’s literally free damage for just one bar. The downside is that the assist is too small and weak to do anything other than extremely niche pressure mixups. Roll’s projectile assist is bad, but at least its slow and deals damage, which is honestly good enough in this comp. And Dan’s anti-air assist is actually really good when he gets invulnerability on it, deals good damage, and covers a wide area. Generally, the gameplan for me went like this: If Servbot’s the point character, zone out the enemy to build meter with Roll and Dan assists. Roll is for the decent damage on hit and the chip damage, while Dan is used when the opponent closes in on Servbot. Servbot himself has 4 projectiles that, while terrible, are unique enough to create a bit of a mental stack on an opponent that’s unable to handle it. Light punch projectile is his absolute fastest, and it’s honestly just as good on block as it is on hit, because of the terrible damage being irrelevant for chip damage, and the aforementioned speed. Heavy punch is slower, but against opponents who dont have armor, landing it means a free combo, for either meter building with a long combo, or for damage with a super. It’s better used to just mix up the timing of the projectiles than for the reward itself. Light kick projectile covers the area immediately above and in front of Servbot, so it’s great against jump ins, with good push back, while heavy kick projectiles covers jumps pretty much anywhere. Heavy kick specifically pairs well with Roll’s projectile to sort of cover the screen with hitboxes. Spam these projectiles, and if the opponent is next to you, you can either go for sweep into projectile, or launcher for meter and to reset zoning, and if Dan’s available, you can call his assist too. Roll will have a much worse time zoning than servbot, but it’s not impossible. Spamming roll buster really is your only hope, and because you can use it in the air, you can cover any area on the screen with it, or even stall with a super jump. Spamming Dan’s assist becomes vital, without him, Roll’s toast. Her slide can also be surprisingly annoying for the opponent, as it low profiles a lot of attacks, and she can cancel into roll buster on hit for extra damage. Her launcher has bad range, but at least you get way more damage than Servbot could dream of meterlessly. Dan is definitely the hardest of the 3 to master. No usable projectiles whatsoever, so zoning is basically impossible. You’re better off playing defense, going for sweep (its his longest normal), and getting lucky enough to land a launcher or a super (either quarter circle forward or backeard double kick, they have identical damage and speed despite looking different). Even then, you’re better off saving that meter for Servbot to use. If he dies, then it should go to Dan, and if Roll’s by herself, you can only really use her shitty drill super to *maybe* chip out the opponent. Honestly, this team comp is actually more fun to use in arcade mode than in an actual match against another player. But I studied it, out of boredom, and even win sometimes in casual.

W video, this one probably gonna hold up for a long time unless people end up finding some new cool stuff in the collection
The fact that my go to characters are Servebot, Roll And Hayato is amazing.
Dhalsim is underrated imo. I think the fact he can call assists from super jump height and stall at the time similar to storm while having that magneto speed is very valuable. His biggest issues imo is that he is hard to execute and he is pretty picky about who he teams up with imo.
I would kill for an optional balance patch in the upcoming rerelease
enjoyed the vid as always man!
I do think Ruby has a lot of hidden potential, just needs a Duc Do-like player to unearth it.
Other Characteristics:
*Heavy* *Characters:* Hulk, Juggernaut, Sentinel, Mecha Zangief?. Won't be as airborne from certain attacks from the opponent.
*Chip* *Damage* *On* *Regular* *Attacks:* Jin, Hulk, Sentinel. Most or all attacks perform chip damage.
I don't hear much about the unique traits that lies within this game.
About time you gave Anakaris his respect
made it to the end amazing breakdown! Thanks for taking the time and putting in the work!
Seriously thought you were going to put Silver Samurai in God tier for some bizarre reason.
Thank you JM it was an amazing video I've learned a lot! ❤
Cpt Commando was severly unerrated. easy short combos into super that does a lot of damage.
I assume.
Made it to the end, one of your best!
Dhalsim main from Brazil here, really appreciated all the info, excited to try some new teams
JM, now might be the time for a ratio system intro and Tournament highlight video
Such a helpful take.
I had the game and when it blew up I was trying to focus on Tekken. I would hear guys argue about match ups and all that when I was younger here in NYC at CTF.
This gives a ton of context behind the arguments lol
Made it to the end btw. I'm casual but I wanted to know who I wanted to run if some sweatlord wants to try to bully me at a house party or something. 😅
Should’ve also mentioned the insane damage that Felicia’s Please Help Me! super does.
You should’ve mentioned JWong’s point system of putting out a team With Roll famously being worth 0 points😂
Dang, anakaris being an upper mid tier is surprising
Thank you for taking time out of your day to make this list. Much appreciated 👍
Felicia not being low is awesome
Also shocked that Zangief is not low, guess I misjudged him
He forgot to mention Felicia's supers which are pretty good like her sand splash super which puts opponents in the corner, and her please help me super that can be looped in the corner for insane damage.
Amazing video dude! Thanks a lot
What an amazing video! I wanna see everyone react to this, and add their opinions. Jwong, yipes, where yall at
Tomar and MVC2 this is a good day.
Thx for mentioning the juggernaut glitch maybe not being in the collection 😢frikkin crime
Power UP
Made it to the end, it's been a very fun content for ranking them
Spiral is one of my top 3 characters.
Made it to the end. Thank you for your efforts to help newbies understand this timeless gem.
Great video! so excited for this collection.
21:10 yess i was hoping you'd use anakaris curse's team for this
