I can believe it. Necessities are the art of inventions. Get creative, and don't be afraid to try new things. They may become one of your favorites. My mom always says, "poor folks have poor ways." And, oh boy, was right. No matter how much money I have, I still want to make a bag of beans or rice go a long way. I may have grown up poor, but I always ate great.

Half-way through this video I had an upsetting phone call about some work we may or may not need to our woodstove and chimney. With every person I've talked to, the price continues to increase - I kid you not and we haven't even received the estimate for the chimney work yet. The point of my comment is your voice and your sweet little face. And your boys' enthusiasm for your cooking. The combination of all that and your cooking has calmed and soothed me. I spoke with my husband right before I un-paused your video and y'all were there for me when I needed a distraction. Thank you! God's Blessings on you and yours'.

New video (or even series) idea: Pick a budget and see how many days it feeds your family (don't start with a set number of days, just go until it's all gone). You can show creative ways to stretch every bit of food (example...don't toss or compost your potato peels, instead make some homemade tater skin chips). I know you can do it!
Edited to add: If you make it into a series, you can record and post one day at a time until done. At the beginning of each day, show what you have left to work with for the day. You'll have people on the edge of their seats waiting for the next day.

Agreed. At times, I also slice the bread suuuuuuper thin at the crust end. That way, the least amt of crust left = more bread slices overall. ESP good to do when making garlic bread. I mean, I love the crusty end bits but no one else does, so I make that end slice super thin to = more soft-ish garlic bread.

We can cubed pork butt and stew beef and it's amazing. I have a cronic illness so some days are really hard to cook. This is often what keeps us from eating out. BBq Pork sandwiches can be made in just a few minutes. Sometimes I'll sautee onion and add a can of cut mushrooms to the stew beef. I use the broth from the can and flour to make a little bit of sauce in the pan and we use it in sandwiches, over rice, etc. I can bone in chicken thighs to make fast quesadillas or to use in a lot of stuff. I don't care for canned chicken breast or ground beef because of the texture.

I love fried bologna sandwiches especially on homemade bread. You used to be able to buy bulk bologna and slice it yourself and that was the best to fry. If I had some I'd be frying that for supper tonight

I remember getting bologna sliced at little country stores when I was a kid. They would cut it thin or thick. Mom would buy a box of crackers and we’d have a “picnic”. Best food ever!

A good spread is smash up the banana, then add sugar and stir until smooth. It's awesome. I think your son will love it.

I love your recipes. My husband would not eat rice, casseroles or crockpot meals. Pasta only in the form of lasagna or spaghetti. Everything had to be cooked fresh nightly. As a working mother of three, I had some difficult days. I am so happy to see your family enjoys everything you make. ❤

I was a single parent working rows of 12hr shifts. I had no time to cook. On my days off I would prepare meals and freeze them in portion sizes then nuke them as needed.

Some of my favorite meals using macaroni and cheese is to add sliced hotdogs or can vienns sausage or macaroni cooked with pork n beans with hotdogs. The kids loved it and it was filling.

This is in regards to your zucchini bread recipe. I know that this is not the video with that recipe, but it's getting late, I am totally pooped out from cooking, cleaning, putting away groceries etc, but wanted to let you know how absolutely wonderful that recipe is. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. It is such a wonderful and studying zucchini bread, that I had only that for supper and got ready for bed, and am satisfied. Again THANK YOU so much for putting it up on your video!!!!!!

Not everyone is comfortable with this, but I would have saved the bones from the first night of chicken to add to the broth. Yes, even from people’s plates. By the time you boil/pressure cook for a long time, I wouldn’t worry about germs.
You did a great job keeping everyone fed with good variety!

@@ambersamusements I empty the plates so I do it and just don't tell them. I stick them in the freezer where they can't see them.
