    i really appreciate your content, iv learned so much watching your videos. Tattooing is my new obsession at age 36, I tried to get an apprenticeship from my local tat shop but the guy was like I'm to old lol. Since its the only real shop in my area i have to go the self taught route. Watching your videos gave me the beginner knowledge and confidence to give me first tattoo the other day. So i wanted to say thank you

    I was staying away from small needle groups at the beginning. To easy for making skin damage. Not easy to see on fake skin. Your early videos show how you can avoid this. By the way nice video again 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👌

  • @twistedink361
    @twistedink361 3 роки тому +5

    When I was a shop apprentice, this is something I was never taught... How to use smaller grouped needles. I was taught with a 7rl and nothing lower than that. Now that I'm getting back into tattooing 11 years later, I'm commiting myself to learn off of the 3rl as I believe perfecting skill under this needle group will help overall with larger groups.

    Yes I get that, I feel my way when shading. So different from lining, good advise to practice on some fake skin, even tho it doesn’t feel the same, you get the feel of the motion the technique. Solid instruction as always.

    Semper Fi! I’ve watched a few of your videos , very helpful. Watched your video on how you got into it all. I Got outta the Marines years....and years ago ha,ha. Always was fascinated by tattooing but cuz of family, work etc.very tough to do so, hard to put everything on hold for a classic apprenticeship. Asked questions and got a lot of attitude etc. etc. I’d inked up my legs plenty then put it all away and have recently come back to it. Anyway your videos and that story were inspirational, thank you. Gonna continue and take my time with it.

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  3 роки тому

      I understand what your saying. This often comes down to the type of needles your using. Standard needles have a larger diameter and will show more of the needle marks in the skin. However I prefer to use a 10 gauge needle as they have a smaller diameter and show less of the needle marks in the skin. Needle choice definitely comes down to personal choice so try using some bugpin needles and see how that works for you. Thanks again for the support my friend and Keep ROcking!! 🤘🤘🤘

    How do tattoos made with a 3RL for outline and inner lines age and fade? If the lines are close together e.g. the stamen is there a significant risk the black ink will spread so the detail is lost

    Now when you get to the rose! That's how I am more comfortable shading over a mag. Any clue why?

    Hi what is some good fake skin to use? I seen the reviews on Amazon for their "best seller" and they are really bad. If their best seller isn't good, which ones are? Thank you in advance.

      I use kwadron, cheyenne and then I usually mix in something new that I may be trying here and there. And yeah I use the Q2 more then any other machine. I like it due to it being a direct drive machine, also its small and easy to manipulate.

    Thanks for this video. Are your 3rl needles #12 standard or bug pins? Long taper? On some of your product links I see they are #10, but not sure if that was used in this video. xox Terry

    What fakeskin did you use?

    Having to keep going over it to set your tone...won't that chew up the skin?

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  3 роки тому +2

      On fake skin you have apply more layers or be more dominate when it comes to putting the shades in the skin. For real skin yes you have to be careful but needles isnt going deep and has a very fine point to it allowing you to make several passes without damaging the skin. This becomes more comfortable the more you practice with it.

    I noticed that when shading with larger mags, people tend to have very little needle hang and basically almost ride the tube for shading. For liners, it seems to be different.

    • @deficitmusic9959
      @deficitmusic9959 Рік тому

      Yes that due to it being harder to see a liner than a mag 👍
