  • ARE YOU HAVING PROBLEMS TATTOO SHADING?? In todays tattoo tutorial we will be going over how to tattoo shade with a MAG needle in both fake skin and real skin. We will start by discussing the different motions and hand positions that are commonly used to shade. We will then zoom in and take a look at several examples of whip shading, pepper shading and more. After discussing the uses and how the process is performed on fake skin we will then take the same process and put it to work on real skin, for a brief display of the different techniques in action. Whip shading and Pepper shading are some of the most common shading techniques I use every day. So practice these techniques and get comfortable using magnum needles and before long it will feel like second nature.
    I hope that by the end of the video you feel a bit more confident in your ability to Tattoo shade with a Mag needle.
    Hope you all enjoyed the video and if you did give it up a thumbs up and consider subscribing!!

    My wife was looking over my shoulder. She said “”Omg why is he tattooing his leg like that? And that’s the guy who’s been teaching you?”” 😝 About the time I started to explain the leg you explained it. Lol. She was like ohhh... so he uses his leg as a test spot for his followers damn he is dedicated to teaching people. Lol. I was yup thats one of the reasons why he’s the best and I don’t listen to anyone else.

      You should really be learning from a lot of people not just one person, yes of course he’s great but it’s good to see all types of ways different people approach tattooing to keep improving your work. Keep on learning 🤙🏾

    • @fishnmaster421
      @fishnmaster421 3 роки тому +1

      KhanArtistDaze is that what an apprentice does? Idk how they do it because I’ve never been one. I did watch a lot of other people actually. I spent weeks watching other people. The good ones were all pretty much teaching the same stuff. And the rest were teaching the wrong way. So out of the ones teaching the right things to do, he was the one that treats people like people and not like he’s a god just because he had ink skills. Some of the other teachers that were good artist that are teaching the same tools he is were all kind of dick heads. So I just stay with him as a teacher now.

    • @Khanartistdaze
      @Khanartistdaze 3 роки тому +3

      @@fishnmaster421 I’ve never been one either but I’m sure a mentor would tell you to study all the stuff you can, it is understandable though a lot of people in the industry can be cocky as fuck but check out Oliver Ayre if you haven’t already he’s a very good teacher as well

    one thing i dont understand is , your shading looks smooth almost like a marker that fades out, where i get basicly lines next to eachother from the mag, more like i taped liners together.trying different speeds and voltage but cant seem to get rid of the lines. any tips on this? i did however ordered ReeL skin wich should supposed to be acting more like real skin so hope this helps, but dont understand why i cant get it on fake skin like you do :P thanks again though for your videos man. greetings from The Netherlands

      im not sure if this is the reason or not but I use bugpin needles and they are smaller and tighter together making each individual needle mark harder to notice. Again not sure if this is why mine looks different or not but it may be. And thank you for the support from the Netherlands! 🤘🤘

    I'm new to the art, and when I shade, the ink always covers the whole area, so I can't really see the shading at all and once I wipe it away it turns out super blotchy because I wasn't able to see where I shaded because of the excess ink. Am I not putting enough ointment on? Does putting more on create a barrier and group the ink so you can actually see it?😥

    I got a wired problem I need help with if u got a min. I tattooed my knuckles with millennium moms red and black. I’ve done them twice and the ink never keeps. Like it peels up and the only thing left is light shading of red and black that looks blotchy. I use a 1209m2 and keep it 2mm exposed from a 7f tube. Any advice? I’m confused cause I’ve done 20 other tattoos with wormhole black liner ink and they are fine. I haven’t seen any bad review for millennium moms and there from the manufacturer unexpired so I’m really not sure here.

    Man, I sit here in my studio at night and I'll start with some ink on myself, do a podcast, flip it to your channel and learn something new. I could always draw in a fairly decent manner, have a lot of ink from the street and from prison and thought, "why not get a machine?" I've learned a lot from you and you're a humble artist that loves the craft. Thanks brother, your work and devotion to the art form is admirable and I greatly appreciate your channel.

    I thought of something that would be cool to do over a period of a few videos.. (it's just something I've searched for & haven't found) - give out a kind of "E-Apprenticeship" hands on tattoo.. put up an easy/beginner tattoo, maybe a black & grey rose- or something that you can think of that was easy for you as a beginner, show the picture for ten seconds so everyone can take a screenshot of it & print it out, &do a step-by-step, from hand tracing it onto a stencil, putting it on a fake skin, & then tattooing it while we follow the steps & do the same.. kind of a classroom assignment. Something along those lines. I just thought it would be cool to do now that I see my son go to class on the computer every day because of covid- the same concept except pre-recorded. Then have everyone send in the fake skins & tell them what they're doing right & wrong & maybe what todo to different... Also wanted to add: WOW, it looks like you have ten thousand more subscribers than the last time I saw! Congrats on growing so fast!

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  3 роки тому +1

      I usually use distilled water during the tattoo. I only use the green soap to clean the excess ink off the skin. SO I guess you could just use water but it may be a bit harder for the water to get the excess ink off the skin.

    Hey Brother. I'm so new that even identifying a problem is tough. But when trying to whip shade with a 9rm, no matter how light I make the ink, i can see a hard line for each of the 9 needles. Is this a technique problem, ink problem, voltage/speed, all of the above lol. Can share a picture if that helps. Looks almost like trying to shade with a liner, can quite literally go in there and count the lines. 😁🤘

  • @elliottnunez1057
    @elliottnunez1057 3 роки тому

    Cool video!!! As for types of shading needles us old schoolers used whats called a flat... one line of needles next to each other. Dont know how to use flats and youll slice someone open like a razor blade. There are also the mags you show in the video Staggered rows of needles . Usually two rows, bottom row will be next to each other the second row youll put one needle BETWEEN every two on the first row..These will always have an odd number of needles. The next type of mag will have two rows. The second row of needles being right on top of the needle in the first row..they wont be staggered. This is called a stacked magnum. This needle configuration will be an even number of needles. The staggered mags are USUALLY labeled M1 also called weaved needles. M2 would be a stacked magnum. Rs is a round shader Rl a round liner. Us old schoolers never used Rs or Rl ! They were called tight or loose. Hope this helps someone and i hope my memory is correct. I learned how to tattoo in the 70s in New York when tattooing was strictly forbidden and illegal!! A long time ago, now 60 and still learning. End of rambling.

    Serious question: I kept hearing you say you're using straight black. That's not gray wash you're using?? Would the application change at all with gray wash? I'm thinking yes cuz you'd have to work the skin more and don't wanna irritate as much as possible

  • @andyhowden7655
    @andyhowden7655 2 роки тому

    Hi not much seems to get said about how deep the needles should go into the skin when shading. Like I'm assuming when doing a brush motion you don't go as deep as when colour packing because how would you control the sweep? Hope this makes sense. All the examples I've see from other channel never seem to address this. Maybe it's me. But my shading is so choppy n patchy and I think it might be this I'm not getting. Thanks!
