Oh man! We all know this was going to happen, this is Ippo's first true loss as he fought for the title of Japanese champ. You feel for Ippo as he puts all his effort against Date, but in the end it was Date's experience that takes the win over Ippo's young but inexperienced talent. Next up, we truly gotta watch Ippo vs Ponchai, which is when Ippo first truly uses the Dempsey Roll without ever realizing it.
Battered, bruised, groggy, wheezing, almost blind from his eyes swelling over, and Ippo just kept on fighting till the absolute bitter end. Date was right to be scared of Ippo’s fighting spirit. Fighters like Ippo are forces to be reckoned with, because they will keep coming and coming until they either win, or break.
I love to rewatch this with you. I am an amateur boxer with 8 fights and this series always keeps me motivated. After I lost my very first fight I wanted to quit but the Anime really got me on my feet and I am now 6-2
"I actually have tears in my eyes watching this" Dude me to, he is literally taking this fight to the death.
You noticed this halfway through the video, but probably Ippo's greatest weakness as a boxer is that he tends to panic when his best punches from previous fights don't work, causing him to turtle up and constantly questioning what to do. One of the worst things he does when this happens is that he tunnel visions into trying to get a single particular thing to work.
I hope you react to Ricardo Martinez vs Eiji Date at some point after this.
I noticed that a few times in the last few fights we watched before with Ippo in them. Only the greatest champions are able to overcome adversity though, it's easy to win when you're beating the guy, it's much harder to come back and that's the mark of a champion.
I'm excited for that fight for sure!!
You are right, after catching up with the manga I can say Ippo's biggest weakness is that he doesn't have mental strength+he doesn't have fight IQ
During fights he always has this amazing willpower that makes him keep going but that's not him that's something he builds up through training but the moment whatever he prepared for doesn't goes his way he goes back to stage 1, becomes frightened of his opponent and just keeps repeating whatever the fight plan was again and again, and most of the times he ends up making it but just because his punching power, kinda reminds me of Deontay Wilder, most of the times he can just overcome the difference in technical ability through pure athleticism and sheer power
Outta the 26 fights he had so far in the manga I can only remember like 2-3 where he actually changed his fightplan midfight and usually it takes him several rounds to do so
Luckily after his 3rd loss he appears to be studying and became aware of how much of boxing he was ignoring
@@fredmedrano6584 I honestly agree with u guess that was the vibe I got from ippo whenever I always reread hajime no ippo that he never goes out of what he has built or trained even of it is necessary for him to win even takamera can change how he fight to win like against David eagle and Ricardo becoming agreesive when needed. But ippo just does the same thing which can be good but when u just take punches u will just fall like against the no 2 wba guy
@@fredmedrano6584 only time it felt like ippo fought differently and awesomely with no fear or damage was against the guy that was ippos great fan and insulted all his opponents and ippo went into the fight to end it in a second now then ippo just took all in knew and melded it into a single sequence counter punch
@@haleemkehinde4546 I don't count that because he ends up doing what he wanted, a big wide left hook and it only works as a counter because he withstanded his opponent attack (again through pure athleticism)
The ones I count are:
- His debut fight when he switched to southpaw to protect his wounded left eye and won thanks to southpaw jabs
- The one against Take Keiichi where AFTER BEING MAULED THROUGH 6 ROUNDS he realized that his opponent was taller but the attacks were coming from below so his opponent was crouching but he was not so then he started fighting in a crouching position and KO'ed him in that same round
- The third I don't like to count it but is a midfight change nonetheless: when fighting Jimmy Sisfar he realized that he couldn't outbox him so started trading blows and ends up winning through sheer athleticism again, but given how Jimmy just spammed the same wide swing again and again and how he had a lot of losses even though he was undefeated when he fought Miyata I'm gonna assume that all his wins after Miyata where against people that did the same as Ippo and all his loses where against boxers who either outboxed him through 12 rounds to a decision or KO'ed him countering those ultra-wide swings, so Ippo did a mid-fight change but it was a -100 IQ decision
Being speechless was your genuine reaction. there is no reason to be sorry, especially when there's no techniques you haven't already seen.
Love seeing your reactions to martial arts.
Making me speechless is definitely a feat! Nothing does it to me like Ippo!
It's the music during that last comeback setup in the match, that's what really gets your feels up
This had me so emotional haha!
"If you have to come back and KO them, you're battling uphill the whole time. That's no way to fight your career."
"Ippo getting in his own head again, that's his biggest weakness."
"You've got plot armor. You're the protagonist."
One of these is not like the others.
Crazy how "i havent used everything" goes from "i havent used all my tricks" to "i haven't used all my body has to give yet"
You should watch the aftermath of the match too. This loss was Ippos first and hit hard.
I really like this series. It's almost like watching with a color commentator
watching this with you ( I have not watched the show yet) is amazing. I assume a lot as I've hardly fought but with your know how of fighting this receives more value than I already heard Hajime no Ippo had. Definitely jumping up the priority watch list for me. Thank you
I am so glad you enjoyed the videos! I haven't seen Hajime no Ippo yet either but I absolutely love these fights they are so beautifully done
You should definitely react to Ippo vs Miyata second fight. It's Ippos second "fight" or more like a scrimmage. If you find yourself liking it I recommend checking the first one too. It's great seeing how these 2 fights made such a beautiful beginning for a series.
This one always gets me man, how can you not root for Ippo? He’s a legend!
The entirety of Hajime No Ippo is so good.
Hahahaa the greater the fight, the bigger the tears. I ended up crying on both Sendoh reactions, just like the first time, probably.
I love this show. Hope they animate the whole thing one day (I read the manga).
My mans always coming through, thank you... Ippo vs Sawamura is a must
Ippo didnt knew dempsey roll by the time of this fight. He learn it as a response to this lost
Can't wait to see you watch Ippo fight Vorg!
I'm always looking forward to more Ippo!!!
So the short punch that you wish you could have seen might have been a strait shovel. Jack Dempsey used shovel hooks quite a bit and they are refinements of a pugilism strait shovel which is exactly for in-fighting and that kind of close in fast blow to the body
Date vs Ricardo is a brutal fight I reccomend
Ippo does not have the Dempsey Roll yet. This loss however really, really hurts his confidence in the long run as the days go by in the series. He learns the Dempsey Roll naturally to cope with this loss, in order to be stronger than he was before.
Plus, Ippo is still too inexperienced. Yet, he can win if he sticks to slip in and body blow only while sticking up to peekaboo styles as it benefits ippo in getting punch a lot by weaving. Sticking up to that strategy will give Ippo upper hand in order to prevent Date from escaping him and got a required range of effectiveness of corkscrew punch.
@@muhamadsyahmi951 He would only see if he didn't think so many inefficient and damaging thoughts during the match!
@@derpro8125 he's easy to being intimidated and also overthinking, that's his downfall.
What made Ippo lose this fight that after the Gazelle punch and Date enduring it = Ippo thinking that his attacks are light and not affecting Date. After that moment Date won the mental war which resulted in Ippo doubting himself and lose in the end.
A punch to the heart almost killed Sylvester Stallone. I think it's possible.
Its possible, should be ban that technic.
This is the third time I have seen this fight and it still hits differente...
The manga for this is still running and continues past the anime hope you enjoy the show!
Oh God the only approriate fight to follow this up is Revenge.
Date Vs Ricardo Martinez
Watching date’s world title match would be a great next vid after watching this fight. Super good, especially the backstory behind it.
One of Japan’s former Bantamweight champs and WBC/WBA world champ Shinsuke Yamanaka is pretty well known for doing the neck twisting trick. In his title defense aganist Ryosuke Iwasa, (great fight btw highly recommend it)
Don't apologise for getting caught up, reactions are always the best when they're natural.
Providing commentary is great and all, but a reaction video is all about the reactions. 👍
Love this fight. And Anderson Silva was great at rolling his head with punches. We should check out the Takamura vs David Eagle or Date vs Ricardo
There's already been a reaction to Takamura vs David Eagle, but it got taken down by UA-cam sadly
Considering the end of hajime no ippo heartbreaking is really appropiate for the whole series. Recommended absolutely for everyone fighter or not to see the ups and downs of the world of fighting.
Some of the best weapon fighting in anime, imo, comes from Moribito: Guardian of the Sacred Spirit. There are only a few fights in the series but they're more or less realistic and pretty intense. Please check it out if you have time.
Date vs Martinez 2 maybe?
In the next week or two!
after this last 2 ippo reactions i can not wait for the Date vs Martinez one
Similarly Megalo Box & Yu Yu Hakusho knife edge death match...
As some one who endured a serious arrhythmia for almost a year due to a medication mistake where my heart would skip 1-2 beats every minute or so if I was doing anything other than sitting every time it happened- it felt like the world went on pause for that moment. Everything kinda slowed down and I would feel my body start to go slack for literally a heartbeat and then it would beat normally again and everything came back to normal. I know they exaggerate some stuff in this show to drive home the technique but I gotta say, it doesn't look that far off.
time for martinez vs date!
Either that or Ippo vs volg will be up next week!
I see No-Shave November gone well. You look good man 👍
Thank you haha! It ended up looking better than I expected c:
Takamura vs Eagle is also pretty good if you want to check out more hajime no ippo, or the coach vs an US soldier which is at the end of the animation so far.
ippo vs sawamura next?
Pls do Ippo vs Sawamura next, i'd love to see that.
What a great show
I cant wait to see you react to Kamogawa VS Anderson
Have you considered doing a live anime analysis video? This series feels like it could really work well with a live chat.
Would definitely love to see your reaction to Eiji Date vs Ricardo Martinez.
Keep an eye out!
This has to be one of the weirdest fights in the series. Dude was smothering his punches by moving his head to the side with lightspeed reaction time and then literally stopped his heart lmao
Great video as always. Could you react to Isaac vs Carmilla from castlevania
I'll add it to the list!
Ippo has equal power but less skill and techni, Eji Date is world class after all.
ippo learn the dempsey after this fight
Love me some Ippo
Now you need to do Date vs Ricardo
God of high-school Jin mori vs Park ipyo
You should watch ippos comeback fight after his loss to date.
I recommend you Ippo vs Shimabukuro Iwao
React to Ippo Vs Miyata sparring 1 and 2
you need to actually watch the show and not just the fight scenes. Just watching Ippo train and grow is amazing
Don't know if you have done it already but the way of the dragon Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris
ua-cam.com/video/WCCQElqOlE4/v-deo.html
Hope you enjoy!
SPOILERS a BIT "you've got plot armor your the protaganist" me- looks nervously at his fight againts the number 2 contender
anderson vs kamowaga , react to the 5 episodes there are , awsome fight
If you'd like to follow this fight up with Date's world title match against Ricardo I'd be over the moon.
:)
Isn't that dude always the ref? Idr.
ippo aint gunna last long in his career if he keeps fighting like this i wish they would finish this anime series.
Can wait for u to do the madara vs shinobi alliance , naruto shippuden,ur amazing at reacting at video’s ♥️
So eiji is based off of a guy that is based off of takamura that is based off of duran? Cool
Eiji is based off of Ozaki Fujio who's nickname was 'Japanese Roberto Duran'. And then Takamura is based off of Roberto Duran.
Please next : takamura vs eagle
I did that fight already but it was taken down due to copyright 3 times :( such an amazing fight though
Having seen Date fight, what do you think his chances are going up against Ricardo?
So you’ve seen Ippo vs Date and Ippo bs Ricardo, it only makes sense that you react to Date vs Ricardo
Max, you should go over Jason Statham fight scenes as well!!!
Hey I was really wondering if you could react to the Sherlock Holmes fight
It’s from the 2009 movie
Great! can you do some reaction for joe taslim's movies like the night comes to us(the other fight scenes)
and his other action movies tnx.
ua-cam.com/video/ys79dF4P_xQ/v-deo.html
It's one of my earlier videos so sorry about the quality! Hope you like it, this was an awesome scene!
People tend to forget that Kamogawa is one of the big reasons why Ippo doesn't have any self respect or confidence. That old fart always smother any little spark grows in Ippo all the time.
Is it just me or did Max just get younger somehow?
It's the cancer.
I shaved my head to raise funds for Cancer research and must admit... I don't hate the no beard look
Do reaction to Donnie yen vs Nicholas tse raging fire end fight. He does a matrix like flying armbar
I've heard great things! Can't wait to check it out
It's such a shame that the only fight Ippo's other classmates showed up to was this one, and after that some of them had a hard time believing Ippo was a legitimate good boxer... just based on ONE loss.
Umezawa is the one true bro, screw everyone else.
Ippo is too green when he fight Date Eiji, that's why the real burden is on the Coach himself as he doesn't provides different teaching materials to be provided towards Ippo regarding real pro/veteran fighters such as neck twisting.
That hit heart should be banned, you could kill to boxer...
Yo can you react to Axion_Digital?
I'll give you the view and the like, but I will *not* watch this fight again. 😭😭😭
What a heart breaking fight
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 I love that the main motivation for Ippo to get back up in the Sendo fight is to never again feel the despair he felt after losing *this* fight.
first
Dude stop telling us about you and speak more on the vid.. sheesh!!
Totally wasn't the most requested fight because it's Ippo's 1 loss. :p
He has like 3 losses
@@verrufen2642 2 loses
13:05 I rolled a brass knuckle punch in a fight only reason I was still standing was that I saw white n came right bac
Kamogawa vs Anderson should be the next! You get to see the old man boxing 💪🏻
Definitely recommend watching the series, you the the whole back story before the fights and you get more of a feel of what they’re going through mentally during the fight
I am really excited to watch this show when I finish attack on titan!
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 you say that but the first "season" is at leat 70ep" way more than attack on tittan has lol
@@CHOATICINMATE51 Attack on titan has 75 eps which is gonne be more bc there is another season and Haijme no ippo also has 75 eps first season
@@CHOATICINMATE51 with the 2nd and 3rd season together thats 126 total eps which isn't that bad considering that he has a dragon ball figurine in the back he'd probably agree
Yaaaa baby
watching him deal with the depression and go back to the basics for his next fight with sendo is probably my favorite lead up to a fight as well.
I'm excited to see how Date does in his fight with Ricardo after this one!
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 I'm not sure the full fight is on youtube though...
You should checkout Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple. It's got different fighting styles, amazing fights and comedy.
It's on the list!!
I've been trying to remember the name of that one... thank you! lol
I’d like to see you react to Ippo after his loss to Date. The anime does a real good job of showing how painful that first L can be and how difficult it can be to come back from the mental trauma of it all.
Man I love this series!
Kamogawa vs Anderson next?
He's looking for a good version of it.
Impossible to find a good version of it but I'll see what I can do!
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 ok thanks!
I watched the whole series 6 times now. Took me 3 rewatch of the whole series from start to finish to not get as emotional as I was the first time. Really is an awesome series.
If there's a fight outside of the main ones that stands out among the rest, is the Kimura OVA. You should watch that as well.
Wow, I'd seen this fight long time ago, and watch you end in tears it made me cry as well. I share your opinion about Morikawa, he's an absolute genius. Next fights you could watch: Date vs Martinez, Ippo vs Sawamura, Ippo vs Ponchai (first time ippo using dempsey roll), Ippo vs Sanada (it's an OVA, it's worth to be seen), Kamogawa vs Anderson.
43:13 your feelinsa re natural and I respect it, this series makes me emotional too. The ida of not only earning the respect of people but also inspiring them to that level is really emotional. And some times is the emotional equivalent of receiving a beating from the entire cast.
God damn it Ippo is so polite and nice that is impossible not to love him most of the time, he is the perfect underdog even with all that destructive power.
The liver blow and gazelle puch combination - inspired by Mike Tyson, is beautiful no matter how many time I watch it.
He still doesn't have the Dempsey Roll in this Fight
Not the full thing but it's getting pretty close!
ippo vs mashiba ( they show us the detroid style and flicker jabs)
ippo vs sanada ( the fight of the medical boxer techniques)
ippo vs sawamura (the counterpunch boxer)
I heard “He’s got plot armor, he’s the protagonist” and I just started cackling, I’m looking forward to the end of the video 🤣 this is part of why I like the show, Ippo wasn’t quite ready for Date’s full capabilities so the author had him lose to help him grow. It’s great writing, honestly.
Date have plot armor, he neck should be crack with that turn speed 😂.
And now Date is gone, ricardo finished job.
@@VITAS874 I think the deal there was just how much effort Date has to put into that trick, it’s a good way to deal with hits you really can’t afford to take but it seemed to drain a ton of stamina out of him. This would make sense if it takes a very powerful but very controlled effort from his neck muscles.
@@TheCrazyCapMaster still date have plot armor, ippo never give up, and know suddenly he decide believe his punch have no impact? Ippo not believed in own pushes?
You know it's a hype scene when the Opening Theme kicks in. This show, like a lot of sports anime, just has a way of pulling the emotion out of me
Oh Eiji. Ippo's literally renowned for what is effectively the one-inch punch. "He won't be able to throw punches"? Bruh. You about to eat mashed up liver.
for me when people roll the punches i find that a straight, or basically punches to the midsection delivered fast and deep usually are way moer dificult to roll with.
