    How will this do in snow compared to the Outback?
    Assuming snow tires on both and 4Runner in 4wd

      Like night and day… that Outback won’t make it to 75% of the places the 4Runner does.

      4 runner has a higher clearance and all the bells and whistles with the Trd and Pro models to conquer the terrain. Moreover, if you have all Terrain wheels you’re good to go. Have a blessed day.

I was so excited, when I told my co workers about it, one of them said his wife had a 4runner and they both think its an absolute tank. I loved your tips on the T4R regarding lights, gages, rear seat tricks etc. so I subscribed. In this video, I want to point out a few things that may cause confusion. The Crawl Control and Multi-terrain cannot be activated simultaneously. Toyota isn’t very clear anywhere but check it out. When it’s on, either CC or MTC, there is an amber light in the dial. The CC is a speed control in 5 steps, the fastest speed is ~5-6 kmph. The MTC is like ATRAC with finer control depending on amount of wheel slip allowed before the brakes control it. Rock is least and Sand is maximum slip.
    CC works in forward and reverse, and is good for extricating the truck or controlling speed in very steep slopes, like DAC. Also, I heard you can use MTC in 4-hi, but only in sand/ snow.
    One thing to note is that engaging 4-hi (or 4-lo) is like a permanent 4wd (like the limited) with the center diff locked, since there is no center diff in the t-case. This provides excellent traction at both front and rear wheels, but can cause drivetrain windup damage on hard dry surfaces.

    • @VikingsGarage
      @VikingsGarage  3 роки тому +2

      First I want to thank you for watching and most importantly for Subscribing.
      👏🏻 Thank you on your explanation of the amazing 4wd this trucks have. I’m not going to lie there are some things that even I learn on it everyday. I 100% appreciate your explanation. Will most certainly test it out.

    • @claudiacanales2662
      @claudiacanales2662 Рік тому

      So a Limited on city as fulltime should be driven on 4-hi?

    • @anantdabholkar685
      @anantdabholkar685 Рік тому +2

      @@claudiacanales2662 The Limited is “full time” 4WD, i.e., it has the ability to NOT cause windup of the drivetrain on hard surfaces or city driving because it has a center differential somewhat similar to a limited slip, called a Torsen differential. If you put it in 4 hi or 4 low, it just locks up the center differential. While you get up to 40-60 front rear torque transfer in full time 4WD, you no are FIXED 50-50 torque transfer. This provides more stability (control and safety) on slippery surfaces like snow and ice in the city.
      At speeds above 50 mph or on the highway, full time 4WD is better especially if you have hard surface and snow/ ice intermittently.
      BTW, a differential allows rotation at different speeds on either side of the differential. This is important in NOT causing harm to the drivetrain by causing windup damage because wheels travelling at different speeds can't slip on the surface it's on, like a hard surface or road. Wheels on either side of an axle, for example, need to travel at different speeds when turning or going around a curve.

      I think there is some truth to that. I debated for weeks on limited vs. trd offroad. All wheel drive on the limited is going to be way better for just cruising in snow, black ice, standing water, etc. I had always had all-wheel drive cars before. Decided on the trd offroad however and very glad I did because it is much more capable offroad. We just take my wife’s Rav4 when we going skiing and take the 4Runner on summer trips.

I have run the stock tires in and on every terrain in every season and with the exception of sloppy mud, they have exceeded my expectations hands down.
