That’s the thing, Kiryu is just that much stronger than Nishiki, he was never really challenged until maybe Yakuza 2 and 6, Kiryu is just that much of a monster and he kept on getting stronger with every fight

patrickzantomaster He was definitely the most challenged in Yakuza 3. Kiryu was more or less healthy in that game unlike 2 and 6 and even then Mine made him look the most beat up I’ve seen from final boss. Way more than Iwami and Ryuji in three attempts could do.

Idk about you but after playing Yakuza 0, Yakuza 1 is even sadder and heart crushing than when I played the original. It really sucks to see Nishiki become like that :/. I wish we could've had him playable in 0 at least. Kiwami is a very good game but I just can't help but feel sad when Nishiki is brought up. I don't recall where I read it but even the voice actor for Nishiki was sad when he was re-doing the voice of Nishiki for Kiwami.

They really did improve the game ( weapons, friendship heat action etc.) but I still have doubt with the combat system.
i'm a little disappointed that they reused mad dog of shimano moveset from zero instead of making a new one, they could have given Majima a new set of moves.
DanteDevil12 I've never tried the Dragon engine yet myself. I've heard negative things about it but when I see Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 6 trailers, I'm amazed of how good the graphics are as well as the movements look really smooth.

Nice videos. I've played the Yakuza games for some years now but have never really dived into learning how to better manage the combat system and the fighting styles until recently. However when it comes to major boss battles I still tend to spam recovery items, take lots of damage, and rely a lot on Tiger Drop. And many of those fights involve groups of enemies ganging up on me and I find myself constantly being knocked around between them. Do you have any advice on what I can do to improve?

First of all, don't be influenced by my style, There's a lot of different strategies and tactics, choose your play style and define your own path in the series.
Spend some time learning how to dodge attacks. If you keep getting pummeled after getting up, then try dodging away from the pack immediately to give yourself space and possibly counter attack one of those combos, moreover the dodge and the fighting stance/lock on button are your two best friends. right before an enemy attacks, you just sway around them with X and combo their back. R1 helps keeps your attacks focused on the guy, and you should basically hold it as long as you're on the offense.
Using the throw move is actually a pretty good option when you have a group around you because you will usually knock down a second opponent when you throw an enemy or in alternative rush style. because The triple quick step is great to get behind people to stunlock.
Thanks. I've been spending a lot of time playing Maximum GP in the underground coliseum just practicing things. I've gone from getting knocked out in the first round (by not using Tiger Drop) every time to coming out on top with energy to spare most of the time. Seems to be the closest thing to a boss rush mode the game has. That and Majima Everywhere.
I thought defeating Shimano was hard but lord ol'mighty I'm having a hard time defeating Nishiki cause its no fair he regenerates health too quickly
I believe his health regeneration phase is the fastest in the game.

just had to be in brawl mode & grab available items to damage Nishiki to bring his health down by alot XD (also pressing Y to enter heat mode)
the only time when I died once is when I had to fight Shimano again at the docks & his people working for him kept hitting me...

I can’t think of any other fight that Kiryu has had that is as emotionally charged as this.
I beat Nishiki with only the Dragon Style, I felt it was more pure to face him as the complete Dragon Style since it's Kiryus pure escence.

Thank you. Honestly, i don't know this guy, but most part of people don't know how to use the combat mechanics. In my opinion The combat in this game is really great and complex once you get the full glimpse of it. a lot of depth to it like parrying, s, blocking, locking on, dodge dashing, moves being activated under certain circumstances. Anyway, Kiryu's has higher raw damage but is slower than Majima , whilst Majima has more speed but lighter attacks.
Santox7 is one of the worst, but the worst is DspGaming.

You should Press Circle after a Finishing Blow for a bounding throw. Consumes Heat.
For example: S+T + C. SSS+C, SSSS+C.
S= Square.
T= Triangle.
C = Circle.

How do you do the move in Brawler when you grab his leg while he's on the floor and punch his back? Been trying to do it all the time...
It's the following combination light punch X 3, Hard x1, Throw x1 , Heavy X 1. On the Xbox it's X,X,X,Y,B,Y. On the playstation I think it's X,X,X, Triangle, Circle, Triangle. I hope that helps

I WISH I KNEW ABOUT THIS A LONG TIME AGO i could have destroyed every boss with the rush cheese and i never knew it
for something like that you just need the tiger drop, then in the battles against multiple enemies + boss fight, rush isn't very useful and against amon 1 mistake and you risk to taking grenades and goodbye.
@@DanteDevil12 i wouldn't really think about using this kind of thing on amon, and i kinda exaggerated there when i said every boss. what i meant was every boss that didn't have super armor or could only use super armor during a specific move. thanks for the tips though because i'm close to fighting amon in my save.
I totally agree with you and nishiki is the perfect experiment along with majima, except for slugger style.
