When I was in the market for a new ride, I was dumbfounded about Aventon’s website completely wiped all memory of them ever being fixed gear. The FBI couldn’t even retrieve those archives

I felt like the scandal regarding their frame damage cover-up really hurt their reputation in the fixie community, especially after Zach Gallardo commented on it heavy. They figured they would cut their losses and pivot into the e-bike sector. Since both communities don’t really talk with each other, Aventon was able to successfully rebrand and catch the e-bike trend with minimal hiccups.
That being said, if Aventon continues those shady practices, another frame issues like that could kill the company completely. Especially with the larger lens on them due to their success with e-bikes.

I saw an Aventon when I was out for a ride earlier today. The oversized downtube really doesn't do it for me.

i have 3 aventon cordoba, 2 2016 and 1 2018. i honestly like the way it rides especially in the climbs, but aventon has a reputation of very weak frames, and very soft aluminum tubing, but i love my cordobas and aventon has a place in my heart.

TBH I dont understand that reputation. I bunnyhop my fixed gear, slam the rear wheel into the curb etc and it has held up for the 4 years I had it. Cool asf

People forget that they also stepped out of the fixie genre by launching the Kijote, which, in 2018, was one of the best value gravel bikes. Sad to see what became of them, but hey, capitalism right. As long as there are profits, its all good.

I dont think that development is more expensive in Track Cycling. These bikes are the simplest Out there. Margins might be lower though because of Low Sales.

possibly, its the engineering factor that gets you, most of the time you dabble with wind tunnels in track bikes but wont need to with e-bikes because theyre simply for just riding for fun

I think they should have kept supporting their old track frames. Not putting more out but like small parts. The Aventon Mataro for one ik has a proprietary seat post collar and ive seen hella ppl selling with either no collar or a stripped one.

Don't think they have much of a fanbase anymore.
Their frames are known to crack around the seatpost and they didn't do a good job on the support in these cases.
    They were right to pivot

I personally want to see them try to market and sell a single speed direct drive motor thats simply designed to burn the battery on climbs and be a descend monster going the speeds of tour de france riders like chris froome.
The controller would have to be "technically" locked to 28 MPH but is easy to derestrict with a few digging so the community can do it by themselves.
60T x 11 because you can push it and have the torque sensor help you along. It's gonna have to have a massive brake rotor at the front to descend confidently.
Around maybe 500 watt hours so its not too heavy but doesn't die immediately after one super sprint.
