    Just used my Toro 60V chainsaw the other day. It's still strange not hearing the engine, but it cuts just as well. Much more convenient than gas chainsaws.

    This was a very enjoyable and informative video. Have been a Subscriber and viewer for quite some time. First comment here. I own a lot of Milwaukee tools, but just have never been able to get excited about the chainsaw. I keep waiting for ‘the one’ to come along. Not ready to give up my gas Husky saws just yet. Yes, this SHOULD have a VST, no doubt. I Enjoy your Channel and your presentatIon style immensely. Don’t let the ‘negative Nancys’ bring you down! Ha Ha. Peace

    Great vid as always! I still don't think I'm ready for a cordless electric chainsaw yet, remember to keep your batteries charged, if you need it during a blackout and don't have a generator it can be a paper weight without charged batteries. My Husky 445 has a horrible oiler, agree with you a well oiled chain is crucial.

      I heard at a show the EPA was cracking down on auto oilers putting out too much oil. Since that show, the new oilers seem to work better and better.

    I could see if a person had a small yard, a little bit of sidewalk, and occasionally pruned trees their 60v mower, snow blower, trimmer and saw might not be bad. Li-Ion batteries hold up better, but having multiple uses for the packs still helps to get your money out of them.

    Thanks for the informative video. Would this saw be user-friendly for a petite woman to use residentially for seasonal tree trimming and kindling cutups? Also, does the battery lifespan deplete over time with multiple charges? Lastly, what is the most you'd pay for a brand new one? Thank you!

    Curious if a Oregon bar and chain kit would help this Toro be a no-brainer. The kit I put on a brushless 18v Ryobi increase productivity noticeably.

    LOL, don't know why I'm watching reviews of different electric chainsaws. Already have the TORO hedge trimmer, blower pole saw and weed eater with 1 big and 1 reg battery. Of course I'm going to get the chainsaw from Toro if I need one, only have to buy the body. Interesting video though.

  • @jonahbert111

    There is a place to grease the bar tip. I have wondered if greased frequently, whether oil would do much, as the grease also gets to the chain which spreads it into the groove.. It is probably faster to grease it than it takes to add oil.

    i bought the toro string trimmer because I'm just tired of small engines. And trust me, I'm the type that loves engines. I rebuild snowblowers and sell them in the winter.. my lawn mower is a 70s ariens snowblower with a mower conversion.. I love gas! but 2 stroke engines ugh.. not my thing anymore. So I bought the string trimmer and its awesome. battery lasts forever. Then I figured it would be nice to have a small battery leaf blower if I want to just blow off my deck or patio without the backpack blower. So I bought the toro leaf blower. That's literally all I use for fall clean up now. So I'm looking at the chainsaw, and I'm thinking man it would be nice to just be able to cut up some small trees, firewood, branches... without having to do all the things with the gas chainsaw. It's a nice gas chainsaw, but its just not convenient for small jobs because of how infrequently I use it. Thanks for making the video.. It looks like I'm buying a chainsaw haha

    The one thing that I always question with regards to battery operated tools is, how long do the batteries last , and how much does it cost to replace them. I now own a drill that is nothing but a paper weight because new batteries cost more than what I originally paid for the drill. I would hate to think that for the occasional user that cuts once or twice a year, and goes out to the garage to find that the battery shelf life has ended. I have several gas chainsaws approaching 20 years old, and they still get the job done.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 роки тому +1

      That is true, batteries in some brands are very expensive! Do the research before you buy in. Very few of today's saws, unless they are commercial ones, will last 20 years.

      The advantage of the m18 one is that the battery will work with a 150 or so other tools so you can do a lot more than just cut logs.

      Lithium is rated for about 1000 charges. I'm more worried about the BMS, wonder if the cells can be replaced or will the BMS permanently turn off once the battery gets old.

    It seems I'm developing a short or something in my throttle as it wants 'shut off' or 'cut out
    especially when the saw is cold,, I basically have to re-push the saftey button and throttle again to get it working again but as it warms up,it seems to stop doing that,,I have to wonder if it's a short or just not making a good connection to the battery?? Anybody have any ideas?

    WOW I've been using a Wen electric 12 amp saw that would embarrass that saw. I've cut an entire tree up and the blade has just gotten to the point that it cuts that slow. I'm talking about 3 pickup loads of firewood and five 8'x6'x4' trailer loads of branches and still haven't sharpened the blade (will do that today) but yeah that saw sucks for power.

    No-load chain speed, according to the manufacturer:
    54.9 ft/sec Milwaukee 18V (17.7 m/s)
    34.1 ft/sec Toro 60V (11 m/s)
    Of course, no-load speed tells you nothing about torque.

    The toro seemed to bog down less then the Milwaukee during use @WorkshopAddict

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 роки тому

      Hard to say. With the Toro soft start, I did not get a feel that the chain was turning as fast as the Milwaukee. Could that feel be because the Milwaukee goes from zero to full immediately? I do not know.... With that said, could the bog be because I felt the Milwaukee was cutting faster and I pushed it? I think the Toro would bog less if we used a 6.0 or 7.5 ah battery. I brought in another saw to show performance but it is super hard to put two saws up side to side and guess who bogs less. :)

    I just sent my Dewalt 20 volt 12 inch back to Dewalt Service as it died within the warranty period with almost no use on it. I love the convenience of a battery chainsaw but I think the electronics in these will be their downfall. Capacitors don't like heat or vibration.
