No internet star wannabe BS, just hard working, highly-skilled guys actually doing the job. Very nice video. I've both liked and subscribed, so please keep up with the great video production.

I don’t care if I have to sell my first born I AM NOT CLIMBING ANY TREES! you guys are crazy! 😂 whatever money you guys make you deserve every penny! 😮
I just picked up the Milwaukee top handle today (tool only) for $362 out the door. I already have a bunch of batteries for my other tools. Have yet to use it.
No. No! NO!!! This has to stop! You all are having waaaay too much fun, dammit! 😊Good vibes. Great content. ✌ P.s. There are so many good saws out there - Stihl, Husky, whatever. I have an inexplicable love for the 395xp.
Now that’s a fun crew! I’m looking forward to more videos with you three in the future. Nice work with the drone footage too. I think the Echo DCS-2500T would’ve been a good addition to this comparison. Keep up the good work, Sir!

Dewalt 20v chainsaw is 89$ at Home Depot right now. Obviously probably not the best saw for commercial guys but for everyone who wants one for around the house it’s a great deal.
I think the cookie cutting at the end was near enough to a draw because the Milwaukee came out of the cut on the upswing and there was more delay on the Husky switching from finishing the down cut to starting the upswing .
Which honestly as a small time tree guy? Would make the Milwaukee the clear winner. Can pck a blower and 1/2” impact and grease gun for the heavy equipment that all run off the same batteries as the saw. (Batteries & chargers I already have.)
Im not a tree guy, but I already have shit ton of milwaukee gear for my motor / metal trade. So when i needed a saw, It was obvious choice to get the milwaukee saw. And it does everything I need it too.
I love my Kobalt Pole Chainsaw - 80-volt - 5-AH battery - 10" Bar - 6 ft / 8ft foot Pole Chainsaw. No electric cord. I've been using Oregon Bars and Chains. I have been using it for more than 3 years now. It works great on my southeast Louisiana farm clearing property that a hurricane went through and trashed all the trees throughout the woods of our 18-acre farm. I carry it all over in our woods and the battery lasts a long time. Today I'll be cutting a 6-inch limb off of a tree out front. I am also using (2) Kobalt 80 volt 18" Bar Chainsaws and using (2) 5 AH Batteries. Cuts huge logs great. The chainsaw first one wound up in a puddle and stopped working but after a couple of weeks and it had dried out, it started working again. For oil, I like to use Ryobi Bar and chain oil. We have cut 20"+_ logs and works like a charm. And NO more pulling and pulling to start a gas-powered chainsaw. - - - - - - - One 80v 18" chanin saw with 5ah battery snd charger was $400 as of 7/28/2021
Nice assortment. I would like to see a comparison with the Echo and Makita top handle saws as well. I'm a fan of the Echo 2500t. $500 for the full kit, and another $150 battery gets you power for the whole day. That new Milwaukee looks like it has plenty of power. Built in scrench is really neat.
I love my 2500t. I used it today while climbing. It's so light compared to my gas top handle and not having to crank it while in the tree is so nice. I have used it for removals but most of my work is for pruning and that's where it really shines.
I have the Makita 10” and 14 inch saws since I’m on the platform, contractor kit, lawnmower etc. The 10” is super light and handy to operate with one hand. It doesn’t have the power to kick back and easily cuts up to 6” branches and logs. The 14” uses two 18v batteries and makes quick work of bucking 13” logs easily matching the homeowner Echo 14” we had on hand. The run time is too short and the charge time is too long but I have 8 5ah batteries so the job got done.
I have the original Milwaukee 16”, it has preformed very well. We had a bad windstorm last July, I went thru 3 batteries that night clearing up several trees that were blocking the streets in my neighborhood. Getting the top handle & pruning versions soon
The top handle version is way better from my experience in the last week, I wish I would have gotten the kit instead of tool only. I really like the 14" bar.
Awesome video Jacob! Quick tip against sap/resin: Just use any vegetable oil or butter, it resolves the resin and than you can easily wash it all away with a regular soap 👍🏼 Thanks for the comparison, I will buy the Milwaukee since I already have a lot of Milwaukee tools 😊 Stihl as always just a joke..
Awesome video, I recently did a battery powered top handle saw shootout with 8 “professional” saws on my channel and found myself having similar opinions as you. The power button on the Stihl was very aggravating and seems unnecessary when targeting a professional market! I loved the Milwaukee and own a hatchet myself but never seen one with a 12” bar, super cool! The little Echo saw and Makita really surprised/impressed me as well! Thanks for the content, it was nice seeing these saws used in real world applications against eachother!
Heyy men just wondering if you know witch type of chain and plate you put on the mini milwaukee m18 did you change the sproket to fit that? Thanks love your vide your a great inspiration!!
Jake, if your shoulders are hurting you need to do some bodybuilding shoulder work. I know climber don't like the idea of lifting weights, but I can tell you from experience it will help. I'm 42 now, about 10 years ago my shoulders were spent. I did mostly bucket truck work. After I started lifting weights and getting stronger doing work above my head became easier along with everything else in tree removal. Having the ability to work as you age is the greatest ability you can have and being strong helps.
Had a pleasant surprise this morning, "A-1 Tree Service" of Spokane is doing a massive log pole pine x2 down the street. After watching you, I was hoping maybe you would be up it slinging the saw. Everything I've seen on the channel.. now I get to hear it and see it in real time. Put a smile on my face and an appreciation.
That's awesome, I've learned to invest into a modded, ported 201. I have a lot of dewalt tools, might buy one of their battery chainsaws for overlanding and camping.
I have the larger Milwaukee 2727 with a 16 inch bar, and it is my go to small chainsaw for clearing brush and cutting smaller trees. I can go for for 6 hours on one 12 Ah battery when clearing brush. Nice to be able to use my other Milwaukee batteries, but it does have a couple of drawbacks. It seems like Milwaukee did not have a chainsaw person in the development of the saw. While the torque is fantastic, the RPMs could be a little faster than the 4000 RPM, and I feel that some torque could have been traded for speed, and the .043 gauge chain is too small for the available torque. I got an .050 bar and chain, and it cuts faster and does not get bogged down as easily since the .050 chain cuts a wider kerf. The bar cover has an odd angle that reverses in the direction of chip flow with an acute angle, so the chips start to build up instead of flowing out. I ground out some of the plastic with a grinder to get better chip flow. An adjustable oiler and an on/off switch with a 10 minute auto off would be nice to have.
I'm a minute in and Husky will leave the other three in the dust. Husqvarna is way ahead of everyone with their battery products. They also give a two year Commercial warranty on the saw, battery, and charger. As battery tools go, the first purchase always stings. Add a second tool down the road and it's much easier to stomach.
Milwaukee’s commercial warranty is 3 years on saw, battery, and charger. I own a 540i and might get the Milwaukee due to being able to dawg it in more when cutting.
Awesomeness, yall are doing a great job jacob. Also i feel like randy has boosted your channel. Just my opinion but i think that was the secret ingredient you needed to make it all come together.
I really enjoyed this video comparing the saws. I have a Ryobi 16-18 inch brushless 40volt HP chain saw. I like how it works alot and is also very light and cuts extremely well. You can also get 40volt 2ah to 8ah for longer run time. I paid 250$ with tax and shipping for the bare tool because I had other 40volt battery tools. I wanted to see you guys would get one and try it out and do a video on it. Also Ryobi and milawakee are owned by the same parent company techtonic industries.
For me a top handle saw needs good ergonomics and handling. Cutting speed is the second requirement. I think overall the best saw is still the husky. The Milwaukee seems nice too havent tested it yet. The stihl is just too bulky and i dont like the handle for the left hand. Additionally the 1 second button is a dealbreaker for me. I'd love to see this topic revisited with the inclusion of the newer dual-battery Milwaukee 20" chainsaw and the EGO 20" commercial unit (and maybe also the cheaper EGO 20" residential unit). Cheers!
Where can I find more videos on the hatchet? And did you make the custome chain yourself? I have just got one myself, and am looking to increase run speed and some how make a longer bar work on it
You should try the echo battery arborist saw!! That one have many nice features on it... and it is way lighter than all off those! Think it cuts faster aswell. Echo DCS 2500-T
Second video on the Milwaukee top handle August did one a few weeks ago both reviews were pretty good price n regular m18 fuel batteries looks like a good deal The three musketeers getting after it good n funny as always 👍
Yay! Been wanting to see this. I will more then likely get the Husqvarna 540i. It seems to be the best out of the bunch. The Stihl seems like a dog in the wood. And then the whole button/power turning off in 1 second would really bug me. And to be fair, the comparison at the end wasn't fair. You barely got any wood on the up cut with the Milwaukee, like you did with the Husqvarna. Although the Milwaukee does seem to have more torque the the Husqvarna.
Go back and try to watch the video objectively. Every cut with the Stihl is quick while both Milwaukee saws struggle all the way. Stihl vs Husky is always a debate and they have idiosyncrasies but a dog it is not.
I have tested both. With the same bar and chain through the same piece of 9” maple both saws running 5ah batteries the only thing the Stihl won at was being heavier by close to 2 pounds. The T540ixp was 1 second slower dogged in than my MS200T with the saw bar and chain for reference.
Stihl do better petrol saws imo and I'll always be a stihl guy but for my first battery saw I'm getting a husky as it actually seems to be a bit better
38:21 all joking aside, i did about 50 trees for the wood, just fell and limb. property owner on his skidsteer piling branches and stacking sticks. keeping it all to feed the saw mill and for firewood.
Imagine...men in the heights, alone with machine and rope, looking out and wishing he could share it with the world. Men of sail at sea with only rope wishing the exact same thing. We see it now. Men of the heights of all time thank you.
You can just tell how much more pleasant the battery saw is to use. You can tell they liked using the battery chainsaws more because of the banter during cuts just gotta get another 2 batteries
I already have Milwaukee chargers and using Milwaukee equipment so I know which climbing saw I'm going with unless Husqvarna would like to sponsor me for some reason even though I don't have a tree removal /trimming channel or have a actual business doing it I just do it on the side to help people out.
Great comparison. I saw Milwaukee came out with a smaller saw and was wondering how it performed. Im one of those people with a pile of batteries so this is great.
I brushed out 7 full 40plus foot tree's with my dewalt pole saw from a lift with one 60volt battery I was pretty impressed the tool was 200 and I had the battery already.
I have the Milwaukee and just recently Was gifted the Dewalt, and I’m super impressed with the Dewalt. Seems way more powerful and more comfortable than the Milwaukee. Would’ve liked to have seen you demo it
Got the 20” DeWalt flex volt(in UK) Phenomenal saw. Haven’t tried any other battery powered saws so can’t compare, have many petrol saws, but I love this saw, just keeps cutting and never bogs down. Only issue is no dogs.
I’ve got the Mke hatchet I use for climbing with a 10” bar and I wouldn’t go back to a top handle. Recently I got the electric dewalt with the 20” bar and the 16” Mke version smokes it . I prefer Milwaukee equipment, awesome video!
Great video as always, but in my own opinion I’m not sure it’s the best or safest practice chunking down wood with the other guy below you on the other stem?! It seemed a lot safer once you guys were working across from one another.
I have a feeling Milwaukee will quickly be the industry leader in the battery operated chainsaw business. There's a youtube channel, "Project Farm", that will compare different tools. (and other things like oil, etc) When it comes to battery powered tools, Milwaukee is always in the top 2 or 3. Their batteries last longest and provide the most power. They have a major advantage over Stihl and Husqvarna in that they produce and sell so many more batteries, it's significantly cheaper for them because of volume. (not to mention R&D) If someone has already invested in the M18 batteries, it makes it simple and cheap to just add the bare bones saw to their collection.
Exactly what I just did, I just bought the bare tool for 350 since I already have several HO batteries. Haven’t used it yet but I’m excited now that I’m seeing so many positive videos. I was torn between a 35cc echo to pair with my 2511 echo but I think I made the right call with this top handle Milwaukee
From the video the stihl battery saw seems to cut better then the others but the safety crap on it kills it. I have the little 18v makita love the controls on it is awesome for pruning big stuff is a no go. It's also a good looking saw I call it my power silky.
It would have been only a couple years ago when comment sections on videos such as these would have been full with battery naysayers. It's cool to see people becoming more open minded over time.
Rep from stihl said chainsaw chaps will not stop their electric saws because they are direct drive. I asked how many pairs would be offer enough protection and I told him I’d start wearing three. So you should test my theory

all joking aside, i did about 50 trees for the wood, just fell and limb. property owner on his skidsteer piling branches and stacking sticks. keeping it all to feed the saw mill and for firewood.
What Husqvarna model would you say the battery is equal to? Or where exactly would you place it in the model lineup.
Imagine...men in the heights, alone with machine and rope, looking out and wishing he could share it with the world. Men of sail at sea with only rope wishing the exact same thing. We see it now. Men of the heights of all time thank you.
Nice comparison. Thanks for sharing
You can just tell how much more pleasant the battery saw is to use. You can tell they liked using the battery chainsaws more because of the banter during cuts just gotta get another 2 batteries
23:47 video clip cut... hidden chain stop?
DUDE! That Mitch guy doesn't need climbing equipment to top a tree! (I'm only five foot tall, everyone is tall to me but he's taller lol)
Great work. I have the makita 36 top handle but for not being a pro im going for the m18. i have the bigger m18 and love it and it loves batteries.
Is it a .325 or 3/8 pitch? Also does it make a difference with the light bar compared to the original stihl bar
On the ms261
You’re wearing my favorite “hand socks” lol. Great video!
That was cool doin all battery saw’s together 👊
I would definitely rock a hoodie and shirt that says “ Christmas at the top Pissmas at the bottom” 😅😅
I already have Milwaukee chargers and using Milwaukee equipment so I know which climbing saw I'm going with unless Husqvarna would like to sponsor me for some reason even though I don't have a tree removal /trimming channel or have a actual business doing it I just do it on the side to help people out.
Would be interesting to see you try a Stiga. I'm rather happy with mine (not the climbing version thou, i have the regular one).
Great comparison. I saw Milwaukee came out with a smaller saw and was wondering how it performed. Im one of those people with a pile of batteries so this is great.
Great video, what model is the sthil battery blower? Thanks for that 👍
I brushed out 7 full 40plus foot tree's with my dewalt pole saw from a lift with one 60volt battery I was pretty impressed the tool was 200 and I had the battery already.
Pretty simple.... Battery powered toys can't compete with dinosaur powered saws.
i feel the beginnings of a podcast... 'the sappy chaps' maybe
with battery saws, how often are you sharpening your chains?
When they need to be sharpened? ^^
great video, can you test the makita 36v battery saw?
I saved on batteries with a Stihl as well, as I have a lawn mower and hedge trimmer that all use the same battery.
And if you watched project farm Milwaukee was garbage dewalt is the leader in battery operated chainsaw
I have the Makita also , you know about holding the button down for a few seconds to get the torque boost ?
@Gordon L yes I do. I have been thinking about getting the 36v one but they also have a 40v. I'm not sure if its avaliable in the u.s yet though.
how you think the m18 with the forge battery 6amp is more powerful last longer and lighter than a 12 amp?
Great video, for residential use, do you feel like the Husqvarna 435 is a great saw, 4MS180 by steel is betterF
It would have been only a couple years ago when comment sections on videos such as these would have been full with battery naysayers. It's cool to see people becoming more open minded over time.
How’d you gentleman get so comfortable in your climbing gear? that’s insane work
Rep from stihl said chainsaw chaps will not stop their electric saws because they are direct drive. I asked how many pairs would be offer enough protection and I told him I’d start wearing three. So you should test my theory
So much work & fun.
Great work.
Stay safe
Very good teamwork and video.
those prices are so insane. 200 to 500 dollars for a 30 dollar battery, not even new technology. 200 for a 20 dollar charger.
