Cheap? You might want to actually break down the gun and show the quality of the pistol. Few Parts and a stainless steal chassis This is a top quality firearm. I have a number of Micro's including the 365. This gun is as good if not better quality. This gun is also very mild shooting compared to others in it's class. Recoil rating is actually one of the lowest. The take down is one of the best out there. No more of the bulky take down like my 365. So simple to use and you can use just about anything from a shell casing to a mag. The offhand shooting design is great. The finger rest is were you should be holding the gun not on the trigger guard. You will not get any were near the "Muzzle Flip" as you describe. These Micro's need a firm grip and the off hand is essential to help control of the gun. You do not need a fluted barrel for this gun, especially for EDC. Muzzle flash at night or shooting from inside a car, this is not going to work. Taurus came out with a Micro in a extremely competitive market and they did a fantastic job. It is obviously they studied all the designs and took the best from all of them.

What a great breakdown John. I agree with you. I have had the 365, and 4 different Shield models including Performance Centers models. This is at least as good as any of them (in my opinion). I will try repositioning my finger to the finger rest. I should get back out there to the range next weekend. I really appreciate the well thought out breakdown John. Great stuff!

You don't need a tool to take down a Sig p365. Now don't get me wrong, I plan on getting one soon. But to say the takedown is better, when it requires a tool (or shell casing) is not a plus.

I have had mine about 6 months and probably 2000 rounds. It has been flawless. Btw, with regards to the takedown screw. That keychain has a screwdriver tip in the handle that is for takedown. Also, if you are at the range and don't have a way of taking it down, you can us the edge of a 9mm cartridge and it works just fine.

I have to disagree with your assessment that it isn’t very accurate at distances. I was just at the range last weekend, and I was able to easily group shots within 4” at 15 yds. At defensive distance (7-10 yds), the groups are even tighter.

The gx4 is having major problems that Taurus is refusing to address or admit is happening. The g3 is working fine but NOT the gx4, and you should stay far away as will be lawsuits. There are major problems with the gx4 trigger and slide reset. Which will cause a dead trigger and accident discharge if slide is slapped back into battery gun will fire. There's videos of a guy almost shooting his toe off after the dead trigger and slide doesn't reset and when slapped the gun fires. And Taurus is refusing this is happening. Yet many videos prove it is. Sig p365 admitted were problems and fixed them on 1st gen. Taurus is not.

In my field (supply chain) the customer defines "value" and companies like Taurus organize "quality" around what they feel the customer wants. Soooo a higher price tag doesn't always mean better. It depends on what the negotiation between manufacturer and customer agrees on. I think that Taurus got this design right. I have NEVER got a handgun with a full length metal frame - in a polymer. And when I grip this weapon and extend the arm, the sights just APPEAR. I had a small purse and it was between this or the Diamondback DB9 for a small EDC, and this one had double the capacity. Easy choice. I've only put 100 rounds through it, so there's plenty of time for this gun to shit the bed. But I have to say I am impressed with the "value" that 300 dollars will buy you at this time.

I bought my GX4 for my NEW EDC.
Wasn't looking for a firearm that was Red Dot Optics ready or had a 'rail'.
I wanted a small 9mm that would be the best for self defense, concealment, yet have quality and be dependable. I wasn't going to be in any shooting competition with the GX4 as I have other firearms for that.
Purchased the GX4 at my local Scheels and got the last one in stock at that time - 329.00.
Put the Amerigo Glow Dot front sight on and a big + over the white factory front sight - 29.95.
Received the pinky extensions (2) for the two 11 rd mags that were included and that completed the grip for me....good to go with my pinky on board - 9.98
Of course my 13 rd mag has the extension.
