Personally I will save $200 and purchase the Taurus. Put the $200 into a holster and ammo instead.

I swore I'd never own a taurus semi auto. I tried out a GX4 and didn't hate it. Then PSA had them for 299. I was looking for a pocket pistol. My taurus arrives tomorrow.
@@poontang7435 It's fantastic. It's been reliable enough that it's my carry pistol when I need a tiny gun rather than a full sized. If you are considering one, get it. The recoil is surprisingly manageable, the trigger is pretty darn good. The misfires I've had have come from a batch of bad ammo (my Beretta had the same issues with that batch) and not holding it firmly enough when practicing weak hand only. The grip is good for such a tiny gun, but it's still a tiny gun.

What kind of pants would a GX4 fit in a pocket? My LCP Max is the largest pistol that can fit in a pocket while still being able to draw it. Any larger and it would take two hands to draw
The GX4 has the same or better performance for almost half the price. Most 365s are $500-$600, I just bought the GX4 at Academy for $306 and a 13 round mag for $20

A friend of mine has a GX4, and he has only had good things to say about it. I gave it a go at the range, and it performed flawlessly. Like everyone knows, the price is too sweet to pass up for a solid firearm like this. Also, from what I hear, their customer support has significantly improved as well. I still see comments hating on the them, but I'm definitely gonna take a chance and see for myself. Merry Christmas
Something you people aren’t considering. As good as the Taurus might be, when you go to sell it, it’s still a Taurus. It’ll be worth maybe $200. But the sig, you’ll get $550 no problem. It doesn’t lose its value. I like both brands, but the sig will always be worth more
I paid $199 at PSA for my PT 111 Millenium. Works like a champ. Feels like a champ. Carries like a champ. Shoots like a weapon designed to protect my life or my loved one's lives. I am very happy with this weapon.
Got me seriously considering selling one of my pistols to make room for the gx4. Really like what they did with the full length stainless rails & the e.z. takedown... I can't wait for a 1K round status update to see how it holds up

There is a 2000rd torture test on you tube. I know a guy who says he put 10k rounds thru his gx4 but I can't confirm Personally, I've put just over 800rds of various 9mm thru mine over the last 4 months and it has performed flawlessly. Solid pistol that is worth more than it costs.
Finally someone does a breakdown comparison of the gx4 properly. I imagine when that trigger gets broken and a little bit it works like a dream.thanks!
I own both the GX4 and the P365 ! I wound up giving the Sig to my son and keeping the X4 and buying another Toro version too ! As far as quality differences? Not much ! Same weight! Same feel! But I truthfully shoot better with the X4’s ! I put a Veridian custom laser on mine and a CT red dot on the Toro ! They are accurate and reliable and the trigger is great! I like a heavier trigger myself! For the price and reliability I like my Taurus’s!
as said before by someone, you do not need a tool to take down the GX4, a 9mm round casing (the end of the round) will do the job, so anywhere the gun is your ammo will be there also
Interesting. I don't like the size of the keychain thing they give you and I'd rather not have to carry an additional tool like a screwdriver - that would be even worse. If the casing works as you say the problem is solved.
Not underrated, id say only recently reliable with the g series. I actually carry a g3c though. People shit on me but i shoot much better with it than my glocks or sig p365 and its comfortable on me as a big guy for cc
It would help if you would read the GX4 manual. The key chain is the slide release tool. Also, if the Sig was used it would have an advantage with the trigger pull. The GX4 loosens up after 300 rounds.
Man, what a huge upgrade over my Sig 365 and 365XL. More real estate for the off hand which is important for shooting these micro's. Thank God that Tarurus saw that hulky take down lever and slide Stop and did not go the same route, but made it flush. I love the take down of the Taurus. Just use anything, like a round casing or magazine. I could not believe I got mine for under $350.00. Really nice build quality. I mean NICE! Love the all steel chassis, the nice rails, the gun slide rides so smooth. And I love the Trigger for EDC. The Definite, controlled break at the wall is just perfect for EDC. Bravo to Taurus, a really great firearm By the way, this was my first Taurus and I became a instant believer.

I think the Taurus is going to be a winner if it proves to reliable and I see no reason it wont be. This would make a great entry into concealed carry.
Gx4 XL is the one I’m been thinking about getting . I have a Taurus G3TORO and it’s been really great. Has far has micros go another one is the IWI Masada micro slim 9
Great review. Thank you. I think the takeaway here are the night sights. Adding the $80-100 to the Taurus is starting to put you in the Sig range price wise. But, can definitely see a very strong market for the Taurus too.
Night sights are a waste of money especially on a defensive Firearms such as this. It's meant for bad breath distances. If you have to have a night site just replace the front on the Taurus its very quick easy and inexpensive, can probably do it for around $30 and you can get one of the hi viz with fiber optic and tritium combo. I have handled both of these and in my opinion other than the roll mark and the pricing there's not much of a difference, even if you install a front night sight on the GX4 your still $200 ahead of the game.
I have more faith in my ability with a firearm, even a small subcompact, to say this is only a “bad breath” distance weapon. This isn’t a cobra .22lr derringer. I prefer to be able to see my sights.. but, I guess it is a matter of personal preference.
@@DS-kc4ck I think their point is, when using this, engagement range will be sub 10 yards more often than not, and night sights arent needed at that distance. Ive been through one, and it was across a car, more or less point shoot distance, and most happen at this distance.
Nice video. It boils down to what feels the best in your hand. Taurus since production has started in the US, has stepped up their game. I have a G3c as a boat gun, but its very nice. Most negatives are from people that don't even own one. For what you pay this seems to be a very functional and consistent firearm.
As always, thanks for the great info. Taurus has made very good pistols starting with the pt111, all of the G series, and the TX22. The GX4 looks like they are continuing that quality. I would consider it if I liked micros, which I don't.

I have purchased three Taurus handguns, all of which I purchased new. All of which have problems. The latest purchase was a GX4XL T.O.R.O. I has the fail to reset problem. I should have taken heed from the first two that are problematic. Before purchase, I would strongly encourage one to research GX4 problems.
I have both. I got the Gx4 for @$250. The grip on the P365 is tiny. I had to put on a Hogue grip. I also upgraded the trigger on the Sig. Still, the Gx4 trigger is much better. I purchased the Sig 2 years ago, the Taurus, several months ago for $300 less. IMO, thus far, the Gx4 seems to be the better buy.
I finally decided to trade in my p365 for a G4X. Don't like the trigger on the Sig and a toro comes red dot ready. I won't miss the night sights. The cheaper mags is nice too plus I think it's prettier and the black finish on the slide is darker.
The magazine empty has a metal edge looking from the back number 5-4 holes looking at by the yellow 45° can be used for screw driver to turn it 45° to release slide
A co worker tried selling me his used GX4 for 300 bucks. I told him I could get a brand new one for less than 50 bucks more he was like but I only put four rounds through it and I said, I supposed to know that and besides it doesn't matter if you had only one round through it it's still used I offered him 250 and he declined. Oh well, if he thinks a pawn shop will give him more than that he is kidding himself
The GX4 come with a Keychain pistol that is the take down lever the bottom of the Keychain where the clip is have a ridge that fit right in the take down slot you turn it and the slide comes right off.
Rolling breaks vs hard breaks have their advantages and disadvantages. I have taken my P365 to classes and gone toe to toe with people running much bigger guns while using a stock FCU. Yes, I may have made some changes to the slide and the grip module, but the trigger is the same (polished up and broken in from years of use). I will be clear, though. I have changed the slide, added a red dot, added a light, and changed to the wilson combat XL module. But I feel just as capable with this setup as I do with my full-size PDP or my 19.5.
Excellent road test. Actually, the Sig has a 3.1” barrel, but otherwise very fair. I bought the Sig because it has had any kinks worked out, and I got it with the manual safety which doesn’t seem to (yet) be available on the Taurus. I have owned Taurus 9s and think they are great values.
Problem is, the Taurus probably will sell for what I bought my P365 for before the run on guns. Had things not gone crazy, this would probably have gone for $300.
If they're selling the g3, g3s, g3c for $300msrp then it makes sense that their latest model will list for slightly more. Personally, I look to see these on shelves for 360-380. The panic buy for sub compact 9mm carry pistols is essentially over & now the only rush will be on things like pistol braces, upper receivers, binary triggers & maybe even on mags. I haven't seen any price increase or run on mags but doesn't mean it won't happen with the way things are going...

Yeah, it's not like it's becoming an industry standard or anything... 😂 Every other pistol in the same size category offers a red dot option & Taurus had offerings on their other sub compacts... red dots aren't silly, you've just not had the privilege of firing a decent one. Even cops are starting to carry red dots. There are a number of officer involved shootings where the cop had a red dot on his pistol. One of them used one of bull armory sub compacts with rmr... I say you're wrong and they'll have an offering before Christmas...
@What's Up? they're not just for gunfights or targets - some people do still hunt with as well as take their pistols with them as backup while rifle/shotgun... Now, the main issue - the companies usually don't charge that much more for the machined slide versions than they do the non machined. Why do you think theres so much money to be made from people who "need a red dot to shoot inside of 21 feet"? Did you really think they get the extra $ for the red dots themselves? Last time I checked, the only gun manufacturer that was also making optics was Sig, so it's not like there's really any extra $ in it for the manufacturers, just a few extra machining processes when they're doing the rear sight dovetail. If they partner with the optic company & offer the pistol with optic already installed then you just do the math yourself & see the cost differences... There's a couple red dots out there that are absolutely amazing like the new holosun but, like all things, they have advantages as well as disadvantages. They're getting new options all the time, 2 & 4moa dots, a chevron or horseshoe reticle, things that allow for a 2nd p.o.i reference instead of just using Kentucky windage on irons. There are production pistols today that are factoey zero'd well past your "21" or 30 feet or whatever it is you set your targets at & think everyone else does too... Have you always been an ass, or did the Taurus cause that? I'm just trying to figure out why the industry talks sh¡t about Taurus owners - and I think I finally understand...
Oh and fyi I’m a fan of Taurus and would love to get my hands of the new GX4! It will be my everyday carry for the summer and I’ll keep my G2C for winter Carry. My G2C is flawless and had it for years with zero flaws or malfunctions.
Taurus has really stepped up on their guns and getting better customer service. I had a G2C and it is one of the best guns I owned, and I got it on sale for $180. I regret selling it. Bought a gx4xl toro recently, and it feels beautiful. Same size as the p365xl, got it for 340, which is over $200 cheaper. It doesnt feel cheap, its super slim, and its got the 13+1 mags. I like that taurus also sells the gx4 toro uppers in case you want a slightly smaller barrel, and it fits the lower perfectly. Taurus makes great and affordable firearms. I will say, the trigger is heavy and is my only complaint. I think im going to look at their 856 revolvers next.
Great offering, but it begs the question... Would you trust your life to a Taurus? I know they've improved leaps and bounds, but would you do it when you have competitive offerings from Ruger, Smith and Wesson, Sig, Springfield, etc?

As someone who owns a Taurus G3, I can vouch for the low quality of the finish on the slide and the barrel hood. Beyond that, the gun is top notch.
I love my G3C, which has a rail too. I put on a laser and I can shoot fast and easy. You spend more money in ammo than price of weapon anyway.

Buying the Sig
I am a Sig Sauer P365 XL owner. It’s great to see videos comparing everything else to it. It makes me feel very confident in my purchase for my EDC.
I have a p938 with a rosewood grip for Church. But I'm going to have to go with the Taurus GX4 for EDC.

@@DATo_DATonianIt works fine. Just be sure the lip of the casing is seated tight into the screw slot so you don’t strip it. I love my GX4.

Funny! My 3 GX4 models have 1000 rounds through them and the triggers are the same! The slide springs are a little looser but not much!

I love my Sig P365. I was even able to get a very sleek looking light/laser for it for around $150.
Just use a shell case or any other item like a key and turn it. Simple or use the supplied key chain tool

I have more faith in my ability with a firearm, even a small subcompact, to say this is only a “bad breath” distance weapon. This isn’t a cobra .22lr derringer. I prefer to be able to see my sights.. but, I guess it is a matter of personal preference.
@@DS-kc4ck I think their point is, when using this, engagement range will be sub 10 yards more often than not, and night sights arent needed at that distance. Ive been through one, and it was across a car, more or less point shoot distance, and most happen at this distance.
You can also use any 9mm bullet to turn the spin lock and release the slide, if you keep your gun loaded then you always have a tool👍
I have the Sig p365 but I love guns and will be getting the GX4 very soon.
Nice video. It boils down to what feels the best in your hand. Taurus since production has started in the US, has stepped up their game. I have a G3c as a boat gun, but its very nice. Most negatives are from people that don't even own one. For what you pay this seems to be a very functional and consistent firearm.

I'll roll with the GX4. Never liked the 365 because the grip is too thin for my hands. Taurus has a changeable back strap

As always, thanks for the great info. Taurus has made very good pistols starting with the pt111, all of the G series, and the TX22. The GX4 looks like they are continuing that quality. I would consider it if I liked micros, which I don't.

I wonder if the trigger pull will slightly reduce once the Taurus is broken in

I have purchased three Taurus handguns, all of which I purchased new. All of which have problems. The latest purchase was a GX4XL T.O.R.O. I has the fail to reset problem. I should have taken heed from the first two that are problematic. Before purchase, I would strongly encourage one to research GX4 problems.
I have both. I got the Gx4 for @$250. The grip on the P365 is tiny. I had to put on a Hogue grip. I also upgraded the trigger on the Sig. Still, the Gx4 trigger is much better. I purchased the Sig 2 years ago, the Taurus, several months ago for $300 less. IMO, thus far, the Gx4 seems to be the better buy.
I finally decided to trade in my p365 for a G4X. Don't like the trigger on the Sig and a toro comes red dot ready. I won't miss the night sights. The cheaper mags is nice too plus I think it's prettier and the black finish on the slide is darker.
The magazine empty has a metal edge looking from the back number 5-4 holes looking at by the yellow 45° can be used for screw driver to turn it 45° to release slide

A co worker tried selling me his used GX4 for 300 bucks. I told him I could get a brand new one for less than 50 bucks more he was like but I only put four rounds through it and I said, I supposed to know that and besides it doesn't matter if you had only one round through it it's still used I offered him 250 and he declined. Oh well, if he thinks a pawn shop will give him more than that he is kidding himself

I owned 2 P365s. I could not get used to that grip or trigger. Sold both. Went back to Glock. The GX4 looks like what a G43 doublestack should be.
The GX4 come with a Keychain pistol that is the take down lever the bottom of the Keychain where the clip is have a ridge that fit right in the take down slot you turn it and the slide comes right off.
The little key chain gun they give you is the screwdriver for removing the slide.
I like this review. I would probably go with the Sig. The sights are better, it looks more durable. I got a chance to shoot one and like how it works.

Rolling breaks vs hard breaks have their advantages and disadvantages. I have taken my P365 to classes and gone toe to toe with people running much bigger guns while using a stock FCU. Yes, I may have made some changes to the slide and the grip module, but the trigger is the same (polished up and broken in from years of use).
I will be clear, though. I have changed the slide, added a red dot, added a light, and changed to the wilson combat XL module. But I feel just as capable with this setup as I do with my full-size PDP or my 19.5.
Can’t wait for the GX4 XL.
A month before the gx4 came out I was holding my tx22 and telling my brother they need a tx9,same size as the tx 22 just chambered in 9mm.
Good review. Although a clone of the P365, the GX4 is a better value. Think I'd pass on both though for either a Hellcat or a Shield Plus.
The flat end of a 9mm round will turn the take down switch on the gx4. So you do not need the tool in the field.

Looking into a 9mm of this size, and since the tuarus has been a reliable gun fir me in the pt-111g2 I may give this a go and it’s priced right too!
Excellent road test. Actually, the Sig has a 3.1” barrel, but otherwise very fair. I bought the Sig because it has had any kinks worked out, and I got it with the manual safety which doesn’t seem to (yet) be available on the Taurus. I have owned Taurus 9s and think they are great values.

If they're selling the g3, g3s, g3c for $300msrp then it makes sense that their latest model will list for slightly more. Personally, I look to see these on shelves for 360-380. The panic buy for sub compact 9mm carry pistols is essentially over & now the only rush will be on things like pistol braces, upper receivers, binary triggers & maybe even on mags. I haven't seen any price increase or run on mags but doesn't mean it won't happen with the way things are going...

Every other pistol in the same size category offers a red dot option & Taurus had offerings on their other sub compacts... red dots aren't silly, you've just not had the privilege of firing a decent one. Even cops are starting to carry red dots. There are a number of officer involved shootings where the cop had a red dot on his pistol. One of them used one of bull armory sub compacts with rmr...
I say you're wrong and they'll have an offering before Christmas...

@What's Up? they're not just for gunfights or targets - some people do still hunt with as well as take their pistols with them as backup while rifle/shotgun...
Now, the main issue - the companies usually don't charge that much more for the machined slide versions than they do the non machined. Why do you think theres so much money to be made from people who "need a red dot to shoot inside of 21 feet"? Did you really think they get the extra $ for the red dots themselves? Last time I checked, the only gun manufacturer that was also making optics was Sig, so it's not like there's really any extra $ in it for the manufacturers, just a few extra machining processes when they're doing the rear sight dovetail. If they partner with the optic company & offer the pistol with optic already installed then you just do the math yourself & see the cost differences...
There's a couple red dots out there that are absolutely amazing like the new holosun but, like all things, they have advantages as well as disadvantages. They're getting new options all the time, 2 & 4moa dots, a chevron or horseshoe reticle, things that allow for a 2nd p.o.i reference instead of just using Kentucky windage on irons.
There are production pistols today that are factoey zero'd well past your "21" or 30 feet or whatever it is you set your targets at & think everyone else does too...
Have you always been an ass, or did the Taurus cause that? I'm just trying to figure out why the industry talks sh¡t about Taurus owners - and I think I finally understand...
Oh and fyi I’m a fan of Taurus and would love to get my hands of the new GX4! It will be my everyday carry for the summer and I’ll keep my G2C for winter Carry. My G2C is flawless and had it for years with zero flaws or malfunctions.

I've never needed to disassemble any handgun in the field. It seems like it's more a "it might happen" rather than a "It will happen".
Taurus has really stepped up on their guns and getting better customer service. I had a G2C and it is one of the best guns I owned, and I got it on sale for $180. I regret selling it. Bought a gx4xl toro recently, and it feels beautiful. Same size as the p365xl, got it for 340, which is over $200 cheaper. It doesnt feel cheap, its super slim, and its got the 13+1 mags. I like that taurus also sells the gx4 toro uppers in case you want a slightly smaller barrel, and it fits the lower perfectly. Taurus makes great and affordable firearms. I will say, the trigger is heavy and is my only complaint. I think im going to look at their 856 revolvers next.
Looking at these two in Dec 2022. Nice comparison but you said the P365 is 5.5 inches in length. Are you sure?

Would you trust your life to a Taurus? I know they've improved leaps and bounds, but would you do it when you have competitive offerings from Ruger, Smith and Wesson, Sig, Springfield, etc?

I have both. The GX4 gets carried much more than the P365. Just feels better.
Got mine for three0nine and love it. A piece of brass is all you need to break it down but you got the keychain.
All you need is a shell casing to turn the slide release on the Taurus. I think they point that out in the manual.... Always read the manual first.
I got a Taurus G3 and G3 c . I absolutely love them.. highly recommend..
I love Taurus too I just can’t decide which one to buy the G3C or GX4
