When Taurus was cheaper priced, it seemed they ran great. But they raised the price too much in my opinion, then they started having problems with some of them. I don't know what happened to the company, but they need there price back down to what they are really worth. Thanks for sharing Mark.
That's an excellent observation.Greg Newton told me something a while back that also made sense,,Since covid, people didn't want to go to work, and it still seems that way today, even in other countries. You now have less people working at companies, including Taurus. And with less people more messed up products end up going out the door.Like I said in the video,I'm going to find a local gunsmith & see if they have any luck with it.
My BRAND NEW S&W 43C only fires 5 out of 8 charge holes. $800 revolver and it's a total piece of crap right of the box. S&W quality control is TERRIBLE. My Rugers are FLAWLESS and I have many. Don't own a Taurus yet, but found one at the local gun store. It's the all steel 942 snubbie in 22LR just like you have. Is it worth it?
Magtech manufactures a very interesting ammunition, the 38 SPL SHORT. With that ammo you can use a light recoil ammo with the energy of a 32 ACP while maintaining the same holster, speed loader and the same gun, a 38 SPL 👍
I had some what could be called "old 38 shorts" a few years back. They all went off when I pulled the trigger and there was no recoil at all, very pleasant to shoot out of a snubbie.I'll have to keep an eye out for those.
I don't know what is happening with the Taurus revolvers made in Brazil post Covid, but QC has been very spotty. Personally, the last three I've bought; an 856 CH, a Model 65 and the Rossi RP65 all had issues. All three had cylinder rotation problems. The 856 issue was minor. The cylinder would free float with two 158 grain bullets loaded if you staged the trigger. The 65 went back to the dealer because one cylinder wouldn't lock into the frame upon examining it at home. The Rossi, the cylinder locked up and went back to Taurus. In previous times I often recommended the all steel Taurus revolvers. I can't do that now.
@@joesheetstheragman7737 Well. Hopefully you'll have a cherry as opposed to a lemon. I wound up trading that 856ch, but I shot very well with it and am regretting I got rid of it.
I remember you telling me that over a year ago and I just mentioned it to Hillbilly in the comment above.Gun companies and their QC going downhill would be an excellent topic for his podcast, since it's already almost 7 pm now,I'll talk to him after the show and see if we can use that as a topic for next Saturday night's chat.I still have my Model 82 and it's been flawless(knock on wood) lol.The trigger and hammer action isn't quiet what it is on my 64-8 but it's close. And it's just as accurate.Hopefully our run of bad luck will stop soon.
I ordered a 942 lite , in mag. Waiting for 3 weeks now. Hope it runs good. I sold my keltec pmr mag. I just want a pocket carry thats reliable ,not wanting to spend 6-700$
The quality control in a lot of companies are terrible these days, its not limited to Taurus. I had a 605 snubby and the screw at the trigger started to come lose. I took it to my gun smith and he fixed it. I ended up selling it and got a 3" barrel to replace it, and have had no problems with it since owning it. I finally got comfortable enough to use a semi and started out with the tx then work my way up to the 9 mm..
I can understand that and I don't blame you.I currently have 5 other Taurus firearms and they have been excellent, but I might take one out tomorrow and it won't work.Since I got my Shield Plus I haven't used a Taurus as my ccw since.
mine wont eject them either same gun but with the regular frame. I use a wooden golf tee to push them out from the front knock on wood i dont have the timing issue.
Very disappointing to see Taurus might be falling back into awful quality control again. I almost gave up on them with my Spectrum fiasco. I hope this is an isolated incident.
Time for a new gun. I own five. Lite 2inch 22lr, brush steel 22lr 2&3 inch, blk 2 inch 22mag, steel 3inch 22mag. Several hundred rounds through all, no issues. All under $350 new before, during & after covid. Very hard to find when looking. Used for range and loaded with Federal Punch when used for self defense.
Got the 942 mag back in 2022 when i was looking on Gunbroker and its been good. It was hard to find and I ended up paying $600. I have since bought may be 14 others on the site. I find some good deals on there at times. I picked up a Rossi 44 mag for 500 the other day. The same gun going for 700 at my local Academy store.
@@garageguy879 As I sit here am hoping that I win a bid I have on gun broker for a 327. I got a Rossi 44 mag rifle last month and need to take it to the range. I usually take my guns to the gunsmith before I shoot them. I have never gotten rid of a Taurus because it gave me a problem. I sold 2 because I no longer wanted to carry a snubby. The ones I replaced them with have been great. The Kel tec Pmr I sent back to the factory and they fixed the feeder. No problems with it since then.
I've had my Taurus 605 for over 6 years and put hundreds of rounds through it with no problems. My buddy bought a newer one and it keyholes , so he's sending it back. Sometimes you just get lemons.
Sorry to hear that Mark i have had a couple issues with Taurus revolvers and have had some really good ones too so i guess its hit or miss with them. Why not send it back again?
I'm now thinking about doing that Keith. But you saw the video,I only got off 2 shots using the same ammo that Taurus said they used, and this cylinder was worse for ejecting the shells than the 1st one.I honestly don't think this was fired at the factory. Before I sent it off,I cleaned it really well. And when it got back to me,I cleaned it again but it wasn't dirty.Maybe they cleaned it at the factory but with their repair orders piling up on them lately I have a gut feeling they replaced the parts, put it in the box and got it out of their way. It's worse now than before I sent it off.
I honestly don't think they fired even 1 round. Before I sent it off,I cleaned it really well,,no powder or oil on it anywhere. When I got it back,it was in the same condition & we know how these gun companies clean a firearm after a repair, they run a brush through the barrel and that's about it.There should had been some powder resedue,,but their wasn't any.And I tried the same Automatch ammo they said they used.It worked fine when I tried it with the snap caps but live ammo,,nope! I'm taking it to a gunsmith.
I've had the same issue with my S&W 43c and that's a high price revolver. Some 22lr ammo seems to expand in the cylinder and is hard to eject. I think another part of the issue with the 43c is the aluminum cylinder. Try other brands of ammo, you may find some that work fine in the Taurus.
Hello Mark as always good to see making videos. I almost bought that model 22lr but couldn’t find one. I bought a charter arms 22lr and it shoots like a charm. Take care my friend.

There are a lot of people out there who use and admire Taurus firearms, but this is a perfect example of why I would never own one!

It is very sad but Taurus has really been horrible for QC and getting repairs done right more and more over the last few years
You nailed it Brother!
Seems like their QC has fallen off again. They were doing good for awhile.
When I have a problem with mine I have a local gun smith and he takes care of the problem. Had a feeding problem with my Ar and he fixed it.
