I'm glad you made this video. I think KIA needs to see this and realize they should promote the Stinger brand itself on the back more so than their name.
@@Quinns_Cars You're either using a weak fishing line (I would recommend nothing less than 20 pound test), or you're going ape shit crazy using way too much force. Use just a little downward pressure along with a sawing motion and let the fishing line do the work for you.
I'm usually not a fan of mods like this, but after seeing it with the "stinger" badge dead center in place of the Kia badge, I'm a believer! This is how Kia should do it from the factory. Very nice and thanks for sharing!
Just completed this change - nerve racking, tricky but looks awesome. Thanks for your directions & commentary. I could not have completed it without you. Cheers.
Thank you for the video. Its really great. I prefer my Stinger over my German brands...Kìa MUST promote with movie stars or Nadal tenis Champ who owns one.
Thanks muchly for the video. Our local Kia dealer failed miserably to do the re-badging earlier today on my 2019 Stinger - I was NOT impressed. It was supposed to be done a year ago as part of the sales agreement when we bought it - but it's been one farce after another - and today may have been the last straw. Thinkin' of tackling it myself now (they say if you want it done right...DIY, right!). Your video is a great help...inspires some confidence.
Its weird cuz in their domestic market(Korea), this is how the car comes. Why go through the trouble in stamping out smaller prints and changing the badging process? :/
If this is how it comes, does it also have the two holes for the old badge? I'm guessing not. The Stinger looks 100x better with the script badge at the rear, it would have been more eye catching and make people do even more of a double take when they finally realize that the exotic car they're staring at is actually a Kia.
@@elusivellama yep but all those bean counters seating down behind the desk don't know while designers designed and found better way to appeal and everybody found out that it is actually better.
On mine I used a 99¢ wooden yard stick to form a base for the stencil to rest on. The stencil is so flimsy that it wants to twist and warp slightly when you try to stick it to the car. The yardstick has three advantages: first, being soft wood it won't scratch the finish; second, it will bend easily to conform the car's curves as you tape it in place; third, it forms a perfectly flat and straight edge to align the bottom of the stencil. You did a great job...your Stinger looks fantastic!
They should have made the stinger badge with points at back of letters to fit into holes instead. Would have be a much easier installation and holes would not need to be filled.
morg4620 I agree completely. The Korean version has no holes and I'm guessing a robotic arm at the factory places it on the car. Or they have a special template that lines it up better. So we get stuck trying to figure out crazy ways of putting it on straight 🤣

I believe the reason "ger" is a second piece from "Stin" is because you set "Stin" first completely covering the first hole and you have play to set "ger" over the second hole as it is movable that 3/16"

Your videos have been a huge help with the installation of the badges. Thanks. p.s. I also have the Korean Kia Cupholder Console on-route. I've already watched your video on that install. Thanks again. Cheers :))
SLVRFOX88 you are correct. If I had some I would of used that because the fishing line cuts through the adhesive better. Since I didn't have any I just used the tools I had from a previous removal. Thanks for the comment.
What happened to the smaller Stinger logo that was removed from the back of the boot/trunk lid? Would it be possible to replace the Kia logo from the front with the smaller Stinger badge using double sided tape?
Yes. When finally done, It really looks very impressive, much like the luxurious Maserati script logo..the two holes are right under the Oval Kia Badge, but if you carefully align the letters, the holes are perfectly covered and hidden. On mine there was a fairly thick layer of rubbery adhesive, which took quite a while to rub off with liquid Goo Gone and polish. There was some light fading of the Silver paint on mine, which wasn't really an issue after installation, but you do have to carefully line up the new stunning Stinger logo with some painter's tape to make sure you are straight and horizontal before pressing it down permanently. The letters are very thin and fragile at two weak points, so you must handle it very carefully while lining up and mounting the long script. Well worth the effort and purchase.
Would the E badge fit into those holes on the back? in other words, could you use the E badge on the front and the back? Love what you are doing here!!!!
fitzgoblin81 on the forums someone has done it and I'm not a big fan at all. Looks weird to me because of how wide the back of the car is. But to each his own.

LOL I've bought and installed the Stinger Rear Panel badge, the Stinger Steering Wheel badge, Stinger Hood badge, and GT Hub badges. They all look great! Your videos have been a huge help with the installation of the badges. Thanks.
p.s. I also have the Korean Kia Cupholder Console on-route. I've already watched your video on that install. Thanks again.
Cheers :))
fishing line works best for me
SLVRFOX88 you are correct. If I had some I would of used that because the fishing line cuts through the adhesive better. Since I didn't have any I just used the tools I had from a previous removal. Thanks for the comment.
Dental floss too!
You two look like military guys....what branch are you two in? Beautiful car by the way.
Question: Is the rear emblem in 2 pieces? I'm purchasing a rear emblem and he is telling me it comes in 2 pieces.
looks AWESOME. Envious...but happy for ya. well done
alexandergoldman Thank you very much. I appreciate that
Beginning comedy bit was so funny I kept replaying it. :D
What happened to the smaller Stinger logo that was removed from the back of the boot/trunk lid? Would it be possible to replace the Kia logo from the front with the smaller Stinger badge using double sided tape?
Bill Macnaught possible but to me it would be too big for even that.
What do you clean the chrome with? I'm a brand new owner and hate all the marks on my mirrors.
I found that clay baring it gets and stains out
I got my dealer to close those 2 Kia badge holes and they did it and it looks like no holes were there before
Soooooooo much nicer now it (almost) looks like premium car from the rear👌👌 this should come from factory.
Do you really need to fill in the wholes?
When you remove the trunk stinger badge, did it have holes behind ?
I guess you meant the small stinger badge on left side. from looking at the video, it seems not
Would the E badge fit into those holes on the back? in other words, could you use the E badge on the front and the back? Love what you are doing here!!!!
fitzgoblin81 on the forums someone has done it and I'm not a big fan at all. Looks weird to me because of how wide the back of the car is. But to each his own.
