    Got my JB4 in today and this video got me through the whole install. Thank you 🙏🏼 only thing I did differently was the OBD2 wire. I was having a hard time doing it your way, so I chose the small grommet just above the one you used, it has just enough room to fit the connection through. Everything else went smooth

      @@twn2rbo man so I couldn’t even contain myself today. Was in the garage at 6am. Thanks to your video install took no time at all. The hard for me has just getting the tap in on the drivers side wire because not much room for 2 hands. One trying to pull the sleeve back. The other trying to grab just the red wire and then getting the positap on
      It was literally the last thing I had to do to finish the install
      And in my head. I was like don’t drop this damn tap if your life depends on it because I was barely able to keep it in place with one finger. Long enough to reach the wire to screw in
      Honestly that took more time than the rest of the install combined
      I was intimidated by this because it’s electrical
      But if I can do this. Any of you guys can…now I’m starting to see how insane I am and if I wanna try going for the plugs on my own lol

    I would highly recommend the WMI kit as your next mod. I had a 2018 with JB4 WMI K&N intakes and no mufflers and went 11.96 at 116mph. You can make the most power with out having to run E85 especially if it's not available in your area. I have a 2022 now and with a JB4 WMI and brake switch mod did 12.2 at 113mph. no intakes and full weight. It was also 30 Celcius. and a DA of 2400ft.

    You know I read the air intake is really not the big difference-maker when it comes to the stinger. It actually has to do with the snorkels and the intercooler being the biggest restrictions. How true is this idk but its just what I read. I went the snorkel route cause i just dont want to unistall the intakes when i go to the dealer in California.

    • @twn2rbo
      @twn2rbo  2 роки тому +2

      So intakes alone do not make a big performance difference unless you tune. It does seem counter productive since we are taking the factory cold air intake and then installing open intakes that are grabbing more hot air now, but the main point it air flow restriction and that’s where they come in handy when tuning for more air and fuel. Thankfully we have intercooler to help cool the air down, but I agree, the snorkles are going to create a better situation with cooking that air down that initially goes in

    So apparently the PNP fuel wires are on backorder. But if one were to purchase those along with the JB4, they would not need to positap those wires. Correct?
    Rumor has it that some dealerships check for that pinhole and can refuse warranty work if something bad happens to the car.

    • @twn2rbo
      @twn2rbo  3 роки тому +1

      Correct - that could be true regarding the dealer. From the data I’m collecting, I see that some dealers will warranty with mods including the JB4, and some will do things like you mentioned. I would just assume if you mod, there is a chance you will be paying for certain repairs. The PNP connections would add some peace of mind for you, so I would try to get them.

    • @twn2rbo
      @twn2rbo  3 роки тому +4

      Great choice! You will read all kinds of opinions on this, but the fact is that it’s a gamble. People are quick to throw the magnuson moss warranty act out there, but if Kia wanted to take you to court they would drag out the litigation until your broke, on the other hand people state that some dealers offer to install the JB4 and other MODS and have replaced items under warranty when MODIFIED. I’ve read a lot from both sides of the aisle , but at the end of the day, it’s a gamble. The JB4 is really easy to remove and being a piggy back tune, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You just have to use common sense, if something is making a weird noise or engine malfunctions, take the intakes off and then go up there etc. I will say, it’s worth the gamble to me. The car is 10x more fun and powerful with the mods I’ve done. 🐝🐝

      You will find some different views on this, even though Terry from BMS says they are not required when running map 1-2 with 93 octane, the Stingers OE plugs are known to have misfire issues. My opinion is whenever you are increasing boost at all with a tune, you need to replace the plugs with something colder. You can always regap your OE plugs (depending on how many miles are on them) to around .22 -.24. I would definitely at least get some intakes. Many stinger owners report plugs blowout when left stock and running map 2 for a period of time.

    Thanks for the vid, been waiting to see the install. I'm nearing my first few modifications install soon. Just waiting for my intakes now before I start, looking to install this next weekend. As usual I have my fair share of questions I hope you can answer.
    I've swapped two items from last time I watched your videos, I originally was going to get stillen intakes but decided with BMS intakes and instead of getting a BOV I decided I wanted to get the HKS M45iL plugs to prepare for a JB4 tune later down this year or early next year.
    For Map 1 and Map 2 it's perfectly fine to only run Octane 93 correct? There's no E85 near me sadly to even try to run Map 3.
    I'm going to install MBRP Exhaust + Jun BL Downpipes + BMS Intakes + HKS M45iL Plugs, would I be able to constantly run on map 2 no issues?
    I also wanted to confirm with you on plug gapping, I've been on the stinger form and also looked at BMS recommended gap, just wanted to confirm, did you also gap your plugs at .022?
    I hope you can answer all 3 questions when you have the chance!

    • @twn2rbo
      @twn2rbo  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the questions, they will not only help you but hopefully others enjoy this amazing platform.
      If you do all the above, HKS plugs do NOT need gapped. They come specifically gapped for this car and they are a little more pricey in return. HKS is a great brand and I trust them 100%. They will not last over 30k miles, they are race plugs after all, so be sure to document these things.
      Yes, you will be absolutely amazed on 93 octane with intakes, exhaust and plugs running map 2. Your car will perform much better and you will defiantly feel the increase across the board with no issues. I say that because I have never had one issue or gone into limp mode etc since this same mentioned setup.
      Just enjoy it!!
      E85 is great, however keep in mind you would want to do it daily even if it was local. It is corn based fuel and can make things clog up after awhile, esp I winter time on cold starts. You could instead, order some Boostane and follow the instructions and run map 3 safely. We put a little e85 in to boost the octane up to extreme like race fuel levels, which the Boostane will also do the same. But again, once in a while. Boostane will discolor things internally etc.
      always remember , when we re engineer a car, things can break, you have to pay to play!! But life is short

      @@twn2rbo HKS plugs are the best and don't need to be gapped with an ECU tune, however they do in fact need to be gapped with JB4. All plugs do with JB4. .022-.024 is recommended. You can get away without swivel here, i used a 10mm socket on an extension with the smallest socket wrench size. Just enough room for it, careful not to drop the coil pack bolts. they will disappear, the center passenger side come straight down at it with a swivel socket and a extension for the coil pack bolt and spark plug. the front passenger you need swivel but is pretty easy to remove. Make sure to tighten them all down correctly. I used 25 pound's with torq wrench even then I'm not sure if that's right.

      When it comes to a piggyback tune, you have to be willing risk a possible warranty loss if something breaks. They can check the ECU for altered torque and boost numbers even with the JB4 off the car. That’s worse case scenario. A lot will depend on the dealership. Some will
      Install the JB4 , others will void a warranty from an exhaust being on the car. I’ve seen both happen. But no, the JB4 will make it feel better and provide more power, it’s a more conservative option with a lot of flexibility, I’m not sure if the 2.0 offers it, I think I’ve seen 2.5T ones but they may be cross compatible

      If you don’t get the adapters that are out now, you have to posi tap the factory red 02 wires , which some dealerships look out for. I ran electrical tape over mine so it looked factory then I got the adapters from BMS

    • @twn2rbo
      @twn2rbo  2 роки тому +1

      Not effected under normal driving circumstances. Significantly lower with e30 mix as I tend to get on it more. Map 2 with 93 octane I’ve avg 28 (until I floor it). But to answer your question it really just depends on your foot. I’ve had as low as 10avg (cold weather and map 3) and as good as 28.9avg driving normal in warmer weather ( more highway driving).

      @@aeroekins5415 don’t mess with the gap on the HKS M45il, you can double check them to ensure they are all consistent, but it’s HKS and they are usually perfect. I never messed with the gap and never had any issues. They come around .0028 which is fine for boost up to 28lbs. I even tested 3 aggressive lozic ECU tunes one which pushed 28lbs and never had an issue. People that gap their plugs to what Terry at BMS recommends .0024 or whatever end up having occasional issues. That’s just my 2 cents.

    • @twn2rbo
      @twn2rbo  2 роки тому +3

      Depends on the dealer, but generally yes. Out of all mods, this would be the one to void it. I’ve heard of some dealers installing them and if done by them, it wouldn’t void. Then there’s situations like this video they can void it with no tune installed ua-cam.com/video/Ia_HJM_fyNI/v-deo.html

    So I'm going to be getting a JB4 for my 2019, but I wanted to know. Can I install the new spark plugs that's needed without the JB4? Or should I wait & just install the new plugs once I get the JB4.

    • @twn2rbo
      @twn2rbo  Рік тому

      The oem plugs will cause some issues top end, I would run the HKS M45iL , no need to touch the gap on those, but I would still check them. I ran those plugs twice with way more aggressive tunes compared to the JB4 and always had clean logs, I didn’t touch the gap. Map 3 + you def want to do the plugs first
