The VXF is a better sub than the ZVX ACCORDING TO the official specifications listed on Skar's website. IMO the only reason the ZVX costs more is because it's on version #2 meaning Skar has invested more money into the ZVX program, and in order to profit, they need to charge more. In short, never rate/judge speakers solely according to their price but rather, by their official specs, especially considering (besides the actual CEA Consumer Electronics Association Industrial Standards) no one has conducted AND publicly published an in-depth test comparing the two Skar subs ZVX vs VXF. Yes this is what the Industrial Standards in-depth tests are for but they don't test for "Maximum SPL" which has become the consumer's go-to comparison test. Come on UA-cam, test these two subs!

My screwups really sucks seems I've pounded it on a pioneer 1200wrms amp that hits 1760w dynamic and the coil never even got warm, now my choices are an OEM recone for $100 from NVX or an upgrade recone for $155... I want to add a second one so the PSI option really isn't an option money wise as much as going to better parts like a flat wound coil ECT upping the power handling to "1300-1500" would be nice I don't want to buy a second one for $179 and install a $155 dollar recone before I use it for $350 I would have over $500 in 2 NVX subs... Another great video and what a beast of a sub for a 12 inch. I can personally vouch for these zvx subs. I have 1 15 zvx on a stetsom 3k at 1 ohm and that sub bangs and shakes every thing in my car. This sub can take some abuse and can hit some pretty decent lows. I'm so impressed by the sub that I'm already saving up for a second sub to pair up with my first zvx. This sub can take well over 1500 watts rms and beg for more if given clean power.
BIG FACTS !!! Some people seem to think that every subwoofer is built the exact same they don’t realize you can still possibly get a defective subwoofer so those two unfortunately get a defective sub start to think that company is garbage but I can honestly say scar of course has defective subs just like any other company but the big difference is scar customer service is top notch and the subwoofer they send to you is going to be the best QC possible
@@joshholden8561 it'll take more power then that lol. And the EVL isn't a great subwoofer... it's the only one from Skar, that I wouldn't recommend. Just a very inefficient driver, all the way around. DDX is easily a better sub, versus the EVL.

it depends on what you're after, spl or sq, your budget for the build and what vehicle its goin into. once you got those things set then check the subwoofer specs. this sub for instance needs a 4cube box to really sound good. if your trunk space is limited then this wouldnt be the best for you
I ordered 2 Skar 8" ZVX subs I was told they're really nice and I just purchased the Skar rp.2000.1 Amp. I wonder, is this 1 12 ZVX better than the 2 8s??

I was thinking the same thing!! For there to be a quality subwoofer that can handle what he did to it and not smell even a little bit is a great value to me. Most subwoofers aren't labeled with their true RMS but this one is, and its priced right. Great Subwoofer, and Great Video Parker!!!

Totally agree I prefer the vxf sub but I love the ddx motor
I listen to rap hip hop and r&b for the most part. I want 2 12 like these but that put out heavy bass. What would you recommend? Or would you recommend these? Thank you.
A long unsung hero of xmax..Boston acoustic g5 , 3inch of xmax Peak to peak. Owned a set for yrs and finally psi recone.
Xmech does not count. Specs are 15mm one-way.
It kinda sounds like your not impressed right of the bat.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
i have a 2006 grand jeep cherokee should i face my porter sub upwards to the ceiling or towards the back of trunk for it to be the loudest?
Probably Trunk
don’t get stuck on wattage. if you build the right box you will notice no difference between 700 and 900 watts
I put a VXF 12 in my daughter Altima with the RP2000 and it slams. I was really thinking about going with the ZVX for my ride but after watching this I might just go with the VXF also👍👍
The zvx is better than the vxf tho
bass brothers the VXF will sound better on 2k compared to a ZVX
And i might be wrong but im pretty sure skar was selling car audio before SA was even a company
Man love this dude this channel might be my favorite
I don't know why but I get a sneaking suspicion that he doesn't like Skar as a company 🤔🤔
Naw I just like stirring things up on here haha. They aren’t bad just definitely try to copy sundowns aesthetics.
Maybe Skar should treat their customers with respect
@@bassdynasty8840 hey thats crazy u said that I just seen a vid where they sent this nigga a pre fab where the basket was completly seperated from the surround face lol I just got some evl 12s with a rockford fosgate power 1500 1.d and I love it
Its junk, everyone knows, its budget gear..
Deafbonce apocalypse FTW!!
I also bet his box isn’t actually tuned for that Sub for Cubic Ft. with correct porting.
Just got 2 12" zvx v2. Can't wait to hook them up. Got to build a box. Have a grand prix.
The stiffness of a voice coil cover does not effect the sound so long as the cone is of good material.
I think it looks like the x series sundown. About same looking magnet with basket including the surround
Yep! Might need to compare them sometime 👀
I have a X12 and can confirm the basket and motor LOOK identical, even the 1,500 rms rating is the same
That thing is screaming like when the camera shakes you know there is some serious bass
Would I have to upgrade my battery or alternator for one of these?
Link for the SPL meter you have, please
Spl-Labs mini meter... Mine was $244.
I bottomed out my NVX VCW15 just once to my knowledge for a few seconds I was doing frequency tests at a upper volume and when it swept in to the low frequencys it went nuts and started whacking back plate and it's junk now n needs a recone.i removed the dust cap and the aluminum former that's practically like foil has visual wrinkles in it, and it sounds awful. Naaa I'd rather spend a little more n have 2 better out of the box $300 subs or 1 Crecendo Contralto 18 for $500ish. You should give a some Crecendo a review when you have the funds.
Love your videos Parker!
I actually work at NVX, the new product photographer 😁
I’ll have these and other guys on while I’m editing
I bought the skar shallow mounts for my truck good quality subs said they require .65 air space my box has .69 but don't hit all the variations of bass mostly mid
Ever plan on reviewing ds18?
1500 is baby power for the zvx, my zvx-12 is on a taramps smart bass 3k on a .5 ohm.
The evl takes 1500 rms no issue the vxf takes 1500 rms even easier correct box and a vxf will take around 2k on clean clean uncliped power.
@@joshholden8561 it'll take more power then that lol. And the EVL isn't a great subwoofer... it's the only one from Skar, that I wouldn't recommend. Just a very inefficient driver, all the way around. DDX is easily a better sub, versus the EVL.
@@Chuck_Sanders I think the ddx is ok at best I'm not a fan of its punchy sounding bass it just doesn't sound good to me.
WTF, wait a sec, the 12" has a 315 oz magnet? But the 15" comes with a 306 oz magnet! Say what?! Maybe because it's harder to move a smaller/tighter cone? Hm..
Does this speaker fits Q-Power 12-Inch QBOMB12S Single Subwoofer Box Enclosure????
yes but those boxes are tuned high for the sub
Yo yo! Hey Parker so you said that there are woofers with similar 300oz motors that are cheaper, what would some of those be? I'm looking to do a new build soon and been search around
American bass
American Bass HD and Skar VXF
@@ParkerTheBasshead ahh gotcha, yeah I had a vxf a few months ago and loved it that thing sounded amazing and got low. Switched it out for a sundown x 12 which is a beast
Yah I’d like to test a X12 eventually!
yeah i put 1800 watts rms to each of my SKAR evls and they take it well, EVl is only rated at 1200rms too!
The displacement is neck and neck with JL's 12w7. That's pretty awesome!
They also have coca coca rebased down into the 20s but tuned at 32hz the song thunder rolls by djsnt is RIDICULOUS in my truck on 2 Audiopipe bdc3 12s. I built the box 5.5cf tuned to 32hz and I’m only running the 2 12s on an Audiopipe apdlo 2k stock al, big 3 done and all wiring is 1gauge. Just a request really lol would like the what what those songs do on a big beefy sub in a nicer box. I’m wanting the resilient sound gold v2 or the platinums so if you have or come across those would love to see them in action and get your honest opinion.
How does this compare to the sundown E12???
Hey Parker how you doing my name is Joe Davis and I was wondering which one would be the best sub for my money skar zvx 12" American bass hd HD 12"
How will I ever be able to know which sub is the "best" of the 12"s out there? First I was looking RF P3's, then it was the Sundown SA-12's, now I see this one... is there a website out there I can learn more which will suite me best? I liked that sundown I would be able to push and still have reliability... but if I can have the same effects with a cheaper sub, I dont want to throw away money.
it depends on what you're after, spl or sq, your budget for the build and what vehicle its goin into. once you got those things set then check the subwoofer specs. this sub for instance needs a 4cube box to really sound good. if your trunk space is limited then this wouldnt be the best for you
I ordered 2 Skar 8" ZVX subs I was told they're really nice and I just purchased the Skar rp.2000.1 Amp. I wonder, is this 1 12 ZVX better than the 2 8s??
The rp 2000 won’t blow them??
Hey Parker is it ok to run 2 4ohm svc from both coils straightforwardly the amp to get 2ohms or is it better to go from 1 coil to the next then to the amp are both acceptable because I thought when you run individual speakers to the amp you still have 4ohm not 2 when ran parallel thanks bro
Shouldn't matter mono block amps are sodered at the board
Hey Parker, how about testing Ground zero subwoofer? I have two gz gznw12 spl. And it shakes the world!
I love your channel man. I watch every vlog you make. Keep bassinet on!
Skar, EMF and Stero Integrity used to work with Sundown back in the day.. That's why they look so similar. Sundown typically has better coils though.
My zvx smelled burnt at the same gains my Rockville punisher 12 would handle it seemed to be wearing away with break in but it fried the coils after 3 weeks and a loud rca buzz that killed it on my md 3k ,,sub is a dual 2 and its reading 1.4 ohms i contacted amazon and have a free replacement on the way
I think the dust cap is thin to keep it cool longer, just a theory, I do enjoy my dual zvx build alot tho (biased lol)
Will a single one, get long hair floating?
First off its a dnr not a ndr and secound your crying about things on a 300 dollar sub that it dont have when comparing it to a 1 grand zv5
I was thinking the same thing!! For there to be a quality subwoofer that can handle what he did to it and not smell even a little bit is a great value to me. Most subwoofers aren't labeled with their true RMS but this one is, and its priced right.
Great Subwoofer, and Great Video Parker!!!
@@JPANDLIFE05 excactly right, you couldnt have said it better. Ive had my 15 zvx 2 months now and ive yet to smell coil or glue and I'm giving it more than its rated wattage ..
12" zv5 $1000?!?!...lol
Haha thank God someone said it.
@@legg2525 More like $800
What's better this sub or rockville destroyer?
I’ve had one of the 12’s on a skar 2k for about 3 months now and have had no issues with it!
Stop hating
Everyone's opinions are different
I personally wouldn’t go with Skar but I would try other brands like Sundown, Wolfram, Deaf Bonce, DC, etc etc
Am I crazy? But my G7-12D2 gravity subs are 4800 watts (2400rms) and they were like $500 bucks for 2 of them. No one talks about them, wouldn't they blow these out of the water???
ZVX FTW!! I Run Four ZVX V2 15’s Dual 1’s on Four SK V2 4500.👊🏾💪🏾🔊
💪🏻🤤
Another Skar subwoofer test? If this guy would do something different than the same 3 or 4 brands over and over and over again he would gain viewers like crazy.
Why don't YOU do it then? Sounds like u got it all figured out.
Hes doing the more known budget brands. If your going to go buy some 1000 dollar sub from some brand no one heard of you probably dont need a review
How do those Compared to the DDX 12
Would love to see somebody make a review on the mtx 9500 series.
