  • These Sea Salt Spa bars are so luxurious and fun to make! I'm using white kaolin clay and red Moroccan clay for colorants. I'm hand stiring to reach emulsion, no stick blending. #soapmaking #saltsoap #cpsoap
    Basic Recipe:
    48 oz Coconut oil
    6 oz Castor oil
    3 oz Cocoa butter
    3 oz Shea butter
    8.2 oz Lye
19.3 oz Aloe vera juice/ water
    30 oz Sea Salt
    (this is a 20% SF)
To this recipe I'm adding some Clays, Organic Colloidal Oats, Tussah silk fiber, Coconut Milk powder and fragrant oil.
PLEASE use cation and safety gear when dealing with Lye.
I love to create good for you, handcrafted soaps using the cold process method of soap making.

I'm very new/green in soaping products. I just started this year & I've watched more you tubes than I care to admit (spent more time on that vs soaping). You are, by far, my favorite teacher after watching many soaper's. You are an excellent communicator. Your communication is in layman terms, you are fast, efficient & passionate about your work. It's obvious to the viewers that you love what you do. I will be following all of your work. Don't change anything. :-)

Salt bars are my favorite bars to use on my face. I find the salt to be a gentle exfoliant if I use the bar directly on my face. When I don't want exfoliation, the salt is perfect for drawing out toxins without drying out my face. I love them. ❤

On another note, I made 8 different bars of soap of 10 each and they are done curing. This means they are ready to be sold and I am so very nervous 🙊

Hii Ellen, I'm wondering if your salt bars are sweating because of the salt. And if they are, what do you do to get rid of it or to avoid it? I made some himalayan pink salt bars and they sweat a lot. Idk whether it's because of the choice of the salt or every salt bar does sweat. Pretty soap bars anyway, Ellen! I love listening to your explanation about your products!

Hi Ellen! I think I will make some of these tonight for Christmas gifts. How much of the coconut milk powder and the colloidal oats did you add? And how many of the floral bars will your recipe make? I only have one of those molds, so I was thinking I probably need to quarter this recipe? Or maybe a 3rd? I do have a smaller floral mold that I could make some little "baby" soaps with as well if I had extra batter. Or maybe I will just run to Hobby Lobby and see if they have the same mold and buy extras lol.

I usually add 2-3 T of the dry additives. And I can typically get about 30 flower bars

You may not be able to answer this, so I guess I’m just asking for an opinion, but I have always been a little afraid of salt soaps because I have sensitive skin and had a bad reaction to salt scrubs before. Are these more gentle than the scrubs would be for sensitive skin? I’m thinking they have the benefit of all the butters....

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  4 роки тому

I do think these would be way less aggressive than a salt scrub, the exfoliating factor is very gentle. I find them quite soothing on the skin.
