Sea salt naturally balances the skins pH. Many thinks it dries out the skin. Not. It opens up the pores. The trick is to apply moisturizer ( cream/oil/lotion) while spores are open. It makes the skin absolutely beautiful. Thank you Ms Ruth.💕💕💕💕
I made these yesterday. Instead of red reef clay, I just used Australian red clay. The color isn’t as deep but still very beautiful, and easy to find the clay on Amazon. I had to try as soon as I popped it out of the form. It’s a hard soap so I thought it’s ok. I’ll let the rest cure for 4-6 weeks. Oh my goodness. This is the most gentle moisturizing soap I have ever used. I’m literally in love with them. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe. I really and truly appreciate YOU.💕🙏🏻🌿❤️. You are a fantastic teacher. Love and gratitude sweet Ruth.💕💕💕
First, Thank you for doing tutorials, you're a great teacher. I listen and ask myself a question and you answer, LOL .. I have one thing on processing Aloe, This works for me. :) and relatives that are allergic to aloe. If you cut off the end of the stem and put the stem in water for about 10 min to get some of the green slime out, ( aloeteen or same as aloe latex) this is what most people are allergic to) then I use a potato peeler to get the skin off. I then soak the gel till the water is clear. Then I blend and put it into ice cube trays. Ready to go.. Just a thought.. I did make this salt bar, for the first time WOW, Mine got thick really fast, but learned a lot. Can't wait to make it again.
You have inspired me so much throughout the years. I would love to try this recipe, if you don't mind, and try it out one of these days. As a soapmaker, I can tell you: Ms. Ellen, you make it look easy. Such elegance and grace. Thank you for all you do.
My favorite soap to make. ❤️❤️❤️Truly beautiful and so good. It’s very rich and buttery and not at all drying, in fact in time of covid craziness, it is a neutral disinfectant due to the disinfectant and purifying qualities. Ms. Ruth, the Australian red reef clay is discontinued, from the link you left, and I could not find it anywhere, however the Australian red clay also gives a beautiful color and I added a bit of iron oxide pigment, which is also natural. It turned out just beautiful. I give to to friends and neighbors and they’re loving it. Anyway. Love and gratitude to you for introducing such a gorgeous artwork of salt. God bless you, Ukraine and the whole world. ❤️🙏🏻💚👍💓🇺🇦💕☮️🌎🍀🥰❤️
When hand sanitizer was hard to find last year during the start of the pandemic I made a homemade sanitizer with the Aloe leaf that size that I found at Walmart and put some 91% rubbing alcohol. I can't wait to get this sea salt soap. Looks amazing
I LOVE this little bar. The colors together are gorgeous, the little flower molds make a very easy to use shape ( i prefer the shape for washing, though bars are easier to store/dry bc they take up less real estate per piece). I find myself playing with it whenever i use it. I grt my suds on my hands then just rub the lather into a thick, whipped-creamy froth. So delightful and fun to use! - Jade
I'm an Australian and the beautiful sea salt comes from South Australia. I have some Aloe vera growing so I think I might try to make some of these, they look and sound gorgeous.
I followed your recipe the last time you shared your sea salt recipe. I must say it's one of my favorite soaps I've made to date. I now put Aloe Vera juice in most of my recipies. Thanks for sharing Ellen.
I made a aloe leaf soap with coconut oil a few months back as one of my just getting started projects. I made ice cubes with the aloe jelly process with a mini blender to a syrup and used the lye to do the melt thing. I had no issues but most importantly, I didn’t know that I was doing🤫. Some of the bars curled a little after some time. It seems the more I learn about soap making, the worse I get. I think it’s called learning . I did try your recipe for the salt soap but, didn’t use any color or scent. Just wanted to see how this would work with all that salt. Soaped at 95 degrees. Came out of my mini molds pure white and maybe a little brittle on the edges. Good going teacher👏👏👏
Yuzu is a fruit originating in Asia and it is similar to Mandarin Oranges. Although citrus, it has a much sweeter intense fragrance. Those bars look wonderful. So cute in those molds. Thanks for sharing, Ellen. 💕💕
Oh man, I have everything for this recipe and have made salt bars before, but the extras in this recipe sound so wonderful, gonna have to give it a go! Thank you so much!
@@EllenRuthSoap If I were a wealthy woman 😊 I would have bought one each for myself and you. It's also on my wish list. It is much cheaper here in South Africa but it isn't a necessity at this point in time. I wrap bands around my soaps and then stick on the labels...for now😊
Yuzu is a Japanese word translated directly from it's pronunciation, it's a lovely citrus fruit tastes like grapefruit & 🍋🍊....whoa such a wonderful scent in the salt bar, 💖 it!
I just made a batch of raspberry sorbet salt bars today, I did them in a loaf mold though as I don't have enough individuals in similar designs. They have a bit of a rough texture as they got a bit crumbly (I'll definitely invest in those molds soon) bit look and smell wonderful! I have noticed aloe Vera gel when mixed at trace doesn't accelerate too bad, but in my lye solution or in the oils it does. The raspberry sorbet fragrance from Aztec seriously slowed trace, even in my salt soap!
@@EllenRuthSoap it smells amazing! I'm definitely going to keep that fragrance around even if just for myself - especially if I wanna try something super intricate. I've switched to doing milk or other liquid in oils or at trace as I feel it doesn't accelerate or discolor my lye solution (I can't seem to go slow enough 😂). But I love the look of your salt bars! Wish I could get my hands on that clay, shame it's no longer available.
Sounds amazing. I love using fresh aloe. Thanks for showing me how to use in soap. Yuzu is a Japanese oil.... citrus scented. Can't wait to see final product
Gorgeous as usual 👌👌. Why have you split the 20 ounces of aloevera juice and added half with lye and added the other half into the oils?? You could have prepared your lye solution completely with 20 ounces of aloevera juice right?? Does it make any difference?? I have fresh Aloe Vera plants at home. I thought of freezing it to make my lye solution with that. So just curious to know if I have to do as you've did..
When I'm using fresh aloe gel, I like to add it to the oils. When I'm only using aloe juice (the watery liquid) I prefer to make my lye solution with it. It's just what works for me. If using fresh aloe gel in lye, having it frozen is best to prevent scorching.
Hi Ellen, I'm si excited with this Spa bars, I will sugest to you something, that is to extract the Aloin from the aloe vera Leaf, is too easy, only you have to do is put the Leaf cutted in warm Water by a 40 minutes at least, when the Water turns Orange, the process will be done. Is better For skin and the soap's quality will be Better.
So marvelous! Daughter loves the half and half, I love the marbled 😁 I've done brine soap, but not the straight-up salt soap- I think I'm nervous about the process! I'll give it a go soon, though.
@@EllenRuthSoap it's got all the lovely properties you mentioned at the beginning of the video, but a little more work time with the batter for swirls and such. With all the math you're used you doing for your water discounts I think it'd be a cinch for you!
Red reef clay is discontinued including the link you had ms Ruth. There are other clays. I’ll try to use something similar. Wonderful recipe. Thank you. 💕🙏🏻👍🌿
This looks absolutely wonderful ,the perfect name .I’m trying to visualize what the salt feels like on the skin, it certainly sounds nourishing...,makes me wonder if you could use the Himalayan salt or if the various elements in it would change the trace?
I've made this with himalayan salt and it's wonderful! The only salt I've heard that is not good in soap is Dead Sea Salt, for some reason it makes the soap sticky...
Yuzu is a Japanese grapefruit similar to a pomelo really. Those turned out great and I bet they smell fabulous too! I like to use sea salt soaps in the summer to help heal my bug bites and God knows I've got lots of them on my legs this year! 😫

Love those Ellen, I so enjoy your videos! Question: I get terrible soda ash about 2 wks after I make my salt bars (during cure), do you? If not any secrets from anyone? Thanks;-)
Just a little friendly reminder to make sure you cut the white off the bottom of aloe or cut in pieces, because you want to drain all of the yellow Latex Poison from the aloe properly. You can use white paper towel or cloth dab it on end of cuttings their will be a yellowish color on your paper tower ot cloth thats the stuff you want to make sure to drain properly what I do is first wash off any unwanted impurities left on skin of aloe vera leaf then I take cut into big or small pieces put into a big bowl of cold water soak for 2 hours take and drain the yellow water then using a cloth or paper towel dab one end again to make sure no yellow is present if i do see it i just soak again for additional 2 hours and its usually ready to go . when making aloe vera products this is really helpful when making diy gifts for others who may be allergic or sensitive to latex, also if you've ever used aloe vera gel and it's burned or itchy this is why some companies don't properly dispose of the latex poison. I'm guilty 😅 trial and error but hey that's why were all here to learn share and grow right?. I hope this helps some one and love your videos your soaps are always beautiful 😊❤❤.
Do you think it could work to do a cupcake soap with a sea salt base and a different cp top? I think it could be lush with your detox soap as the topper

I will now regularly look for Australian red reef clay. How different is it than Moroccan red clay?
The A. Red Reef clay is a much more vibrant red color that the Moroccan red clay.
How much for those silicon mould you used to make the salt bars?
they are listed in my amazon link below
Ellen I accidentally bought iodized sea salt, can I use that?
Yes, it should be fine in this👍
Is it fine to use an equal amount of purchased aloe gel in place of the fresh leaf?
Yes 👍
Thank you!
You can make Aloe Vera oil with the scraps.
👍❣️
Just to about temperature of oil and lye? Thank u
Approx. 85 degrees F
Is there any other oil that make lather
Each oil has different lathering properties
Can I use Himalayan salt instead of sea salt?
Yes, Himalayan salt makes wonderful soap❣️
