Another way I think about this is in the context of the entire song we are in key of C, and we are just sussing out the flat 7th Bb. Bbsus4 chord (as opposed to Eb) begins this jam theme/alt chorus. Note there is a Bbsus2 in the song intro. So two "directions" the Bb can head! Awesome vid. Thank you!
I love Trey’s interviews when he speaks about Jerry Garcia and Frank Zappa just stunning him with their guitar work when he was young. They also happen to have been two of my major influences. I’ve been attempting to play like Jerry for 50 years.
Damn bro, that’s amazing. I’m actually starting to get what you’re putting down here a little bit. The arpeggios part is a lil tricky at times, rolling those formations with the chord patterns.
Excellent video....... thank you! You have a magical but logical way of explaining things and taking us along on the thought process in your head as you analyze what's going on in the song. I'm 61 years old and have only been a Phish Phan for a few years. Never even heard this before the video. Watched your video yesterday a couple times then listened to the complete song..... really liked it. Looped this progression last night and found it so fun and relaxing to play over just using the chord tones from arpeggios I know now. I need to learn the first arpeggio position you used. I purchased pdf files from a couple of your other videos and they were very helpful....... highly recommend them! I also have a nice fretboard diagram creator program in my computer and find it really I heloful to make my own charts. Just sinks into my head and hands faster. Thanks again!
I love these in the mind videos! Explaining what and why these artists is so helpful in my own playing. Thank you Stitch for breaking this down and helping us on each of our guitar journeys!
Sweet playing, dude! That’s gonna be a great tool for me when I get back home from working; Will definitely be referring back to this! Thanks for the time and effort
A wealth of knowledge and then some. I do hope people are aware of your arpeggio and caged master classes videos also. They are a game changer for those unaware of them. A big thanks as ever.
Dude, if you knew how much I had to dissect and practice this…. For some reason this was not natural to me at all! So I thank you for the compliment, but it took some time😂
Great video - may be the ah-ha I’ve been looking for to branch from mainly single-note mode minded playing…. Would love a link to the arpeggio pateron page. Thanks!
So glad you liked the vid! If you search UA-cam for “Stichmethod Caged”, you’ll find my 2 hour masterclass. The sessions are linked in the description box below the video. Rock on

Thanks brother🤙
The editing of the video was awesome!
Glad you liked it!
Having studied the song now, the bass chord for this is quite obviously B#.
Thank you for what you do. God bless
Great! Thanks man
