I have both BD-2 pedals. I agree with Mr. Vai's description. Personally for playing the Blues I will take the original BD-2 most of the time. The strength for the WAZA, once again for me, is when playing non traditional main stream music such as New Age or even Classical. The WAZA has a nice "strange" sound, the kind of sound that can be made "spokey". The original BD-2 is just a plain good old "down home" sound.
I only have the 50th Anniversary BD-2, but I want to collect all of the Boss compact pedals, so I will at least need a BD-2w... maybe I'll grab an old school one, as well... 🤔
I don't know how much they paid steve vai to say what he said about the pedals, but the reason for the digital delays sounding like the way they do, is because they were designed to do so. If they wanted an accurate representation of the DM-2 in the DD-3, i'm sure they would be able to. Some people just like the clear unfiltered sound of a delay repeat. The DM-2 was made to simulate an analog tape delay after all.
+Acceleratus No, it wasn't made to emulate a tape delay. They sound very different after all (very roughly, the tape delays with more high-pass and tape saturation whereas the BBD ones with low pass and the occasional clock noise or artifact distortion). Bucket brigade delays like the DM2 were simply another step in the progression of echoes/delays who started with tape delays and reached the digital ones. Plus, in spite of him being a monster player & musician, and knowing perfectly well that it's wrong, he says that digital ones are crisp, clear etc etc. They can sound exactly the way that we make & program them to, with a million different sounds. (Funnily enough, Boss has been making digital delays with many different sounding modes for ages, so it's ironic to hear that in this ad)
@@bloodySunday77 Bucket brigades, now there's an electronic term I'd forgotten about. I had some cheap no-name brand 20+ years ago and I remember the artefacts. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucket-brigade_device 1969! older than I thought. Thanks for the reminder. :)
Ibanez has always made great guitars. I almost grabbed one of those vais playing but a lefty for maybe 800 but slept on it and it was gone a few weeks later sadly.
Rude. This is taken from the video Perfect Pedal Order, in which Steve and an interviewer go through different pedals (such as delay) and how they work. I wonder if Steve knows that later on BOSS edited him into a pedal commercial. He's not talking about this pedal, just analog delays in general. I think it's pretty rude to do this, however they probably had every legal right to do so.
A 90 minute tutorial on BOSS pedals, where Steve talks about using various BOSS pedals over the years, demonstrating a range of BOSS pedals on a BOSS BCB Pedal board. This is the part of the video where he specifically talks about Waza series.... Sorry, I'm not seeing where the problem is????
+Daniel Williams i don't remember what it's called but basically it allows for the guitar to be in tune in whatever note you play, unlike the conventional straight frets which has microtonal pitch slightly off
+Nick Kellie if you're not use to those frets , it takes a little time ,a least for me . When I got my jem that is set up just like his ,if you go from say a Jackson or almost anything , it's like playing a greased sword , very fast and thin and the frets I tend to have to watch when I am playing fast up on the high e string , it takes a getting use to . But it's a great guitar ,but almost like a different instrument !
I wonder if they could have found a more unconvenient seat for him...
Jean-Philippe Jason he travels with that seat!
He sells his own guitar seat, so hes probably happy with how he sits.

I didn't know you could get pedals that get friendly ...... I wonder what a unfriendly pedal sound is like???

vais chords..I just love this dude..
knob setting for the delay please
how your pedals works without power supply?
9 volt batteries
Gee that kind of sucks you have to have two of them to get that kind of delay.
Rude.

what are those yellow stuff on the pickups for?
l3ertuz it s tape, for prevent the string stuck at the pick up
Are you certain? I thought it was to protect the pickup covers from the hard strumming and abuse.
I'm certian
yeah..he's right..Steve said it himself
That's all?

It's funny seeing that fancy, beautifully-inlaid guitar with crummy painter's tape stuck over the pickups

Steve vai. .. Ur guitar playing is boring. Ur songs are unknown . U may be a nice guy, but ur level of guitar playing is somewhat not from our world.
