@@michaeldschutte yeah, it's one thing to mix overdrive with distortion, it's a another to pick up a Rat distortion pedal and say "this transparent overdrive is really TRANSPARENT"
I like when players will push suspense until you’re just about ready to give up on relief, then they hit that note and everything before finally makes sense.
I absolutely agree with him about the color of the pedal having an effect on the way it sounds. The Boss Super Chorus has a great color and it sounds great so yes it is true.
Most of Steve's pedal collection is as esoteric and interesting as his playing. Cool to see him list such "standards", though. The mark of a true master.
Nice video, laughed a lot :) Great Spinal Tap parody possibly, or sill valid for april one ? Either that or this video gives several cues as to why 'sound' is not Vai's strong point ;)
I love Steve, and i love the JEM but in my humble opinion the JEMINI was a horrible pedal :( It's really bassy and i was not a fan(maybe my unit was defective), sorry STEVE, you're still a legend.
Inspiring the masses for years....and continuing to inspire today🙏🎸
"The flanging in this says I AM A FLANGER" - he said while holding one of the most iconic phaser pedals of all time
Well, he also calls an overdrive a distortion to be fair
@@michaeldschutte yeah, it's one thing to mix overdrive with distortion, it's a another to pick up a Rat distortion pedal and say "this transparent overdrive is really TRANSPARENT"
@thecurlylockes4069 yeah for sure. But honestly, at the end of the day I guess it doesn't matter what you call something as long as you can use it
And it is pretty clear that Vai doesn't 😂
So awesome! I could use about 3 more hours of this. Amazing how Steve can make that guitar sing. Absolutely incredible.
That little thing he plays with the bar starting at 3:27 was awesome!
Steve rocks 😤💪🏻
Fantastic
I could watch these kind of vids all day long, everyday. 🙃
Would love to see more of the collection

Playing through “pretty standard” pedals, and Steve’s sonic fingerprint comes through.😎
He still keeps the 1st legacy amp i have those , i think its one of the best amps i have played through
2:52 Maestro PS-1A is infact a Phaser not a Flanger.
You need to calm down son…
@@brianwarner308 Sit down Marilyn.
Stop mocking the elderly
But the concept and goal of the PS1a was to emulate a rotary (Leslie) speaker,
@@pihermoso11 Same with the Uni-Vibe, iirc??
After this DD7 will be hard to find
Oh man, this music cave, a dream to be in, with all the equipment.
Thank God for Steve
I’m a little interested in how he’s using the mastermind in conjunction with the fc-12 to control his axe fx.
Jack Butlers gonna like you…

My Tube screamer in front of the amp. Boss 6 band, echoplex and my mxr analog chorus in that order in the loop. Classic tones😎
The wha is Dunlop Cry Baby GCB 95"Q" with auto return.
And... Eugene's Trick Bag on the 1. Holy cow.
I used the Jemini with a Fender Twin amp for awhile. One pedal I wish I’d kept.
The Jemini launch video with Steve is still a classic. Funnier than Spinal Tap 😂
Delay, distortion and wah-wah. Sounds right!
Very clever guy !

Morley, kicked to the curb yet again.
Lol probably kept breaking. They replaced my bad horsie like 4 times before I finally gave up on it. Love the spring loaded feature tho
Nice video, laughed a lot :)

Loving the Ritchie Vaimore mustache..
1:30 is that a distortion+ … ? 🧐 Great cinematography, btw …
Did you shoot this with a lo-res potato smeared with vaseline?!! 💦🥔🤤
He's a guitar scientist, he could teach at Berklee.....

It sounds horrible in this video too.
At this point, Steve could make a signature hamster. Hamsters would fly off the shelves. And there would be internet fights on what cage Steve uses.
I saw 2 metal zones in there
He has 2 of them, one for each of his back pockets...
When he said wah wah, I was expecting to see his Morley signature wah.
🤘😈🤘🔥🔥🔥
the edge interviews vai?
Do matt pike
"Oh that Mu-Tron Bi-Phase looks cool I wonder how much that isooooMG!!! Its $5000 US."
That one is CLEEEEAN, too
Okey Steve, expect a call from Josh at JHS any time soon 🙂
He really loves to play doesn't he?
Cool video, if Steve wants to send me a pedal I'll review it ❤
...it completely molests your notes.
Hey, don’t let your notes near that pedal! It wants to molest them!
Not a Morley BAD Horsie?
distortion, delay, wahwah are the basic pedals for each guitar players!!!
Steve spells his last name wrong...
Electric ham sandwich tone
great player obviously, but always has the "tone" of a ham sandwich or a pringle
Too much sizzley top-end gain with no mid...to my ears
@@davidthompson6832 yes! wrong tonewood probably and no clean Klon boost
corporate answer. cmon steve plug those old mutrons in let's hear them

It’s hard to say it but from this video his signature pedal sounds horrible!
Jemini pedal sounds so bad 😅
fire the video editor imediatly, the edition is very baddd
I think it is more a production issue. He isn't close miced, sounds like an ambient room mic for the audio...
Rat, some kind of chorus, and a tuner
A tuner doesn't count, you're allowed 1 more.
