Jack, you took the words right out of my mouth about the gearbox! if only the gears were shorter to better enjoy the interaction with the 6sp. Having said ttat, I'm just glad a manual still exists for those of us who will never consider anything else.
I absolutely love Porsche. But that said, they've gotten way too high on their horse and are pricing their vehicles out of the range of most buyers at this point. I owned a Macan GTS and while I loved it, it did have quite a few small issues under warranty. Porsche is really becoming a private member only membership club type carmaker and it's a shame to see. The big winner is Chevy with the C8 and the Z51/Z06/Eray for half the price of the 911s
@@coreyegan6751 I know a few Porsche 996 people ended up with C6s and C7s but those are the only folks I've seen moving from Porsches to Corvettes. Funny thing is seeing people trading Boxsters on Wranglers and Broncos. I guess not everyone wants a sports car when you can go where there are no roads. I guess "Don't Tread On Me" plates (available in Virginia) and bumper stickers make more sense on Jeeps and Broncs as well.
@@coreyegan6751 Yup. I've owned a Ferrari 360. I was going to buy a new Porsche until they had their big price increase - but I wouldn't be caught dead in a Corvette.
I recently went with a manual Cayman S. Porsche is making it hard to get an entry level manual 911. Where I live, there is a luxury car tax that would have put the 911T, with a few options, at close to $200,000. Not to mention having to wait for an allocation to appear. Having driven both, I fell in love with the Cayman and, performance-wise I’m not missing anything in the canyon roads that I prefer. Yes, for the same money I could have bought a C8. But, for me, half the fun of driving a sports car is the manual shifting. What can I say, its a sickness 😂 Great video!
A thousand variants of the 911 and this is the only one that matters. THIS is the sports car 911, like a GTS, but without the extra 100hp+ (which you didn't need realistically) add a manual transmission, and much more affordable. Sure, the GT3 and the S/T (which in itself is just the Carrera T concept applied to a GT3 instead of a regular Carrera), are more amazing, and yes they are. They are PERFECTION. But they are also stupidly unaffordable. This is also unaffordable but feels more pure in its intent of delivering a great sports car for the masses. This is my favorite variant among the regular 911s. And even among the whole range this is in my Top 3 alongside the GT3 and the S/T (Once we get a 992 Speedster this might be dropped out of the Top 3 though)
I feel like we need a savagegeese Porsche buyers guide. For example, I'm close to considering a Porsche for my next car, but it's still a big purchase. Is the Cabriolet a noticable performance difference? Will I ever actually use more performance than an S/4S on the street? If I've only ever driven automatic cars, is it a bad idea to get a manual over a PDK? In what case should I get a 718 GTS over a base 911? etc.
Well, it has a backseat (optional anyway, I guess the T standard spec deletes it). And the extra cabin space is noticeable. If that means nothing to you, yeah get the Cayman.
@@kovaji8212 the backseats are practically useless, the cayman has 2 trunks. I'm 6'2 and fit fine, feels like a true sports car, but if you want more room and a gt feel, it's the 911.
5:20 - watching the launch and I'm wondering... when I'm in a parking lot and crawling around to find a spot, will I have to ride the clutch? The only manuals I've owned were Hondas where first gear is super short.
Great review. I got a 2024 992.1 Carrera T and I am glad I did. The gears are long with a manual and in the city I prefer the PDK. Also, it’s more point and shoot and faster than the 992.2. But either way, both great choices. I chose this over a z06 but idk if I would pick a 992.2 over a Z06.
The Lotus Emira has a manual option, although whether you consider that a competitor is another matter. Personally, what puts me off is the deletion of the 7th overdrive gear for motorway use and the limited interior options. I'd be paying more for a T with poverty-looking cloth interior than a base Carrera with black/cognac semi-aniline. May as well hold out for a manual S.
You guys are so good I even enjoyed the ad (which is a never event for me). I find this tempting but probably not quite enough to give up my Targa 4S with the manual. With the GTS turbos I think a tune from one of the majors will add plenty more power if desired. I had a 991.2 C4 cab and it was more than enough for real world driving IMO. I only went to "S" cars in the 992s to keep the manual.
A 992.1 Carrera S Coupe well optioned at $135k was less money, more engine, and all this car is and more for a better price in a manual. All this video proves is that today you can’t get what that was anymore. A manual 992.1 S is a better buy and they are out there.
I drive Porsche's every day for work. Today I was in some base model 992.2. It was still so nice. I think it was like 150 grand. I would love to own one some day but I think I'll have to settle for the Cayman.
Thank you for the reviews! You guys are great. I love the Porsche brand. Maybe you cannot commit, but if your budget was 150k - what are you choosing? 992.2 base, 992.2 Carrera T, or any of the others you mentioned in the video? I understand this is a tough question. You are in a unique position to drive a variety of brands/models.
Tough one, but either a gts 4.0 cayman manual or the c8 z06. I love the 911 t but i think the cayman offers most of what the t has experience wise for much less money
If someone gave me money to have any new Porsche, this is the one I'd have. Driver focussed and not so quick you can actually have a bit of fun with it without getting into trouble.
I drove the 1st generation T, as well as a 911S and Boxster S at a Porsche track day. I didn’t find a big difference between the S and T, the T was noisier, less sound denting ? The S, faster out of the corners. While Porsche won’t record lap times, they felt close.
When they have a model with Turbo in the name and no actual turbo, you know they’ve lost the plot. And what the hell is this - Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S E-Hybrid??
As a 992.1 T owner I don’t get why they deleted the seventh gear. It’s a dog leg up and to the right and drops the RPMs by 400-500 for highway cruising…If nothing was changed with the ratios like they say then this thing will be buzzing on the highway needlessly.
That is a very nice red jacket Jack! Maybe T does stand voor testosterone after all. Can totally see you drivin' and vibin' in that T with that outro song playing.
Have you ever driven a Porsche 911? It just feels right. Maybe not the fastest but everything works together for a great driving experience. That is me talking about my 997.1 Cabriolet. It is more than rapid enough for Ohio roads where I have to hunt for a curve to enjoy. Most of the time you are slowing down hoping Mr. State Trooper isn't around. I am not rich I bought it very used but it's paid for and every time I drive it I realize I will never get rid of it. Would I love a 911T sure! But a 2006 911 is good enough for me!
I have a 2006 that i planned on selling when I ordered my 2024 T, but when it came down to it, I loved the 997 so much that I decided to keep it. Luckily my wife understands my passion and let me get a lift so that we could fit everything into the garage. Choose wisely, young bros. ;)
Can those digital gauges be enhanced to do something actually useful ? (instead for shameless cost-cutting in a 160k car) . I think the digital rev-meter could easily show optimal revs for the lower gear during downshifting, but I am afraid that Porsche will then package it as part of 16k "enhanced driver package".

Mike Hunt...lol. And that is why I follow these guys...men being men and there is nothing wrong with that.
Apparently these things take to tuning really well. You can get them into the 600-700 HP range.
Agreed, difficult to get excited when for what it offers, the price of admission is so high.
Safe to say that the vast majority of 911 owners, especially manual, would never cross shop the chevy. Completely different experience IMO
That is part of their selling point.
What can I say, its a sickness 😂
Great video!
Porsche should allow you to spec the foldable buckets & also get PCCB
5:30 Clearly MKBHD should have been taking notes of the blurred out speedo…
I feel like we need a savagegeese Porsche buyers guide. For example, I'm close to considering a Porsche for my next car, but it's still a big purchase. Is the Cabriolet a noticable performance difference? Will I ever actually use more performance than an S/4S on the street? If I've only ever driven automatic cars, is it a bad idea to get a manual over a PDK? In what case should I get a 718 GTS over a base 911? etc.
Just use common sense my friend
Someone explain to me why you’d get this over a cayman/boxster GTS 4.0? Even FULLY loaded, it’s still cheaper than a base 911 T
Or a 981 S/GTS, which sounds even better for half the cost again
Because it has the 992.1 GTS turbos.
A simple tune will have these pulling GT3 hp figures.
@@deecoopsau Why should I have to tune a 150k car and ruin the warranty in the process?
Well, it has a backseat (optional anyway, I guess the T standard spec deletes it). And the extra cabin space is noticeable. If that means nothing to you, yeah get the Cayman.
@@kovaji8212 the backseats are practically useless, the cayman has 2 trunks. I'm 6'2 and fit fine, feels like a true sports car, but if you want more room and a gt feel, it's the 911.
The crazy increases that Porsche did to the 911 prices make the m3 start to look mighty value oriented
5:20 - watching the launch and I'm wondering... when I'm in a parking lot and crawling around to find a spot, will I have to ride the clutch? The only manuals I've owned were Hondas where first gear is super short.
No, you can manage in 1st gear. I do it in the gt3 which being a na engine i assume needs more pedal in 1st to get going.
@ I guess what I’m trying to ask is, once you’re moving, how slowly can it crawl with your foot off the clutch?
Great review. I got a 2024 992.1 Carrera T and I am glad I did. The gears are long with a manual and in the city I prefer the PDK. Also, it’s more point and shoot and faster than the 992.2. But either way, both great choices. I chose this over a z06 but idk if I would pick a 992.2 over a Z06.
When 130,000 is “affordable” 😊
The Lotus Emira has a manual option, although whether you consider that a competitor is another matter. Personally, what puts me off is the deletion of the 7th overdrive gear for motorway use and the limited interior options. I'd be paying more for a T with poverty-looking cloth interior than a base Carrera with black/cognac semi-aniline. May as well hold out for a manual S.
I’m calling mine the Carrera “Mr. T” and painting it like the A-Team’s van! 😜
Nice seeing Jack's Corolla ripping around strip malls in LITH yesterday.
That ad tickles my flexi spot.
Great job! Best presentation I’ve seen. I wish it included the credits on the music. I’d like to find it.
Love this channel and love you guys - thank you as always, perfect.
Absolutely love the cloth seats
You should probably blur the odometer too: distance divided by time equals speed.
I know this is off topic, but the flexispot ad read was pretty funny.
Imagine if they shoved in the "detuned" 4L flat six (400Hp) from the 718?
Half Asian heart is strong too. Thank you.
Great review! I like how you compared it to the 992.1T
A 992.1 Carrera S Coupe well optioned at $135k was less money, more engine, and all this car is and more for a better price in a manual. All this video proves is that today you can’t get what that was anymore. A manual 992.1 S is a better buy and they are out there.
The Carrera T purred away real horrorshow.
I drive Porsche's every day for work. Today I was in some base model 992.2. It was still so nice. I think it was like 150 grand. I would love to own one some day but I think I'll have to settle for the Cayman.
Sponsor clip was 10/10 🤣
Is the top of third gear 81 MPH? @6:58
My old 2000 Boxter S went 0-60 shifting to 3rd at 60 as well and had a 6 speed manual....
Porsche 911 is one of the few ways to buy culture. No other car gives you that. Period :)
Say what you like about the 992, it is a truly capable and refined machine. Thank you for the video
You don’t need to highly spec one of these, keep it light and simple
I am a Porsche fan
I own a Porsche
I am a car enthusiast
I still do not understand the 911 lineup
Thank god. It makes zero sense to the rest of us
It used to be relatively simple

@@chucky29949it still is. Not that difficult mate.
When they have a model with Turbo in the name and no actual turbo, you know they’ve lost the plot. And what the hell is this - Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S E-Hybrid??
You forgot to mention it comes standard with rear axle steering part of the price increase.
No, they mentioned it at 0:36
Oooh the shade on the blurred speedo. So petty but I'm here for it.
Saw yall on the Car Care Nut Channel. Enjoyed that Colab between Yall!
As a 992.1 T owner I don’t get why they deleted the seventh gear. It’s a dog leg up and to the right and drops the RPMs by 400-500 for highway cruising…If nothing was changed with the ratios like they say then this thing will be buzzing on the highway needlessly.
If I had the cash, Porsche is the best! Alas, I do not, so I drive a E90 323i
You know it's gonna be good when the speedo is blurred
That hood decal would drive me crazy. How much does it cost to delete?

It needed a “Quit playing games with my heart” Backstreet Boys intro 😂
Screens looking like aliexpress Black Friday deals on analogue gauges to screens
Can’t even rev out 3rd 😢
my miata redlines 3rd at 78 like this does 2nd lol
I like the subtle blue accents
