Love the Porsche and Corvette teams got together to help make this video. Hope to get a C8 down the road but that weight concerns me and I love the relative analog feel of my C6 ZR1. Well done, gentlemen. Very well done.
Had to watch this video again and again and it is fantastic. A true and fair comparison with a minimum of bias. Chevy and Porsche teams were engaged and gave it their best efforts. The GT3 is a tremendously capable track focused car. The Z06 is a tremendously capable track car that is fun to drive as a grand tourer. Amazing that the Z06 can have all the human creature comforts with head turning looks and match or outperform the world's best designed track focused cars. Congratulations to team Corvette engineers, they accomplished what few have ever been able to do.
@GSTKING Get some "Preparation H" for your butt hurt Porsche fanboy. 😂🤣😂 The cold hard FACTS are on all tracks, except maybe a go-cart track, and on the street also the Corvette "Z07" is a faster car, a better all around and more practical daily driver, with WAY MORE driver and comfort features and it STILL costs $100K less than the 911 GT3. You lose all all counts. This video has the FACTS & PROOF and you have your BIASED OPINIONS.
I am grateful to be able to live vicariously through these videos. I unfortunately will probably never own one of these amazing cars, but I can at least get to appreciate the beauty through the internet.
Awesome comparison and so close. I own both Corvette and Porsche so it's super cool to see the top dogs in duke it out. The main thing is the rich history that Porsche has on the track from day one with no floundering, no wavering and no compromises. All of their special models from the beginning of their history are valued and highly cherished and Porsche still supports them. GM on the other hand is still a newcomer to this in comparison and my only reservation is will they be able to bang out the laps and compete with the proven quality that Porsche brings to the table. Porsche was winning races in the 1970's with those outstanding racing cars when Chevrolet barely phoned it in with their production Vette. But man did the Corvette engineering catch up fast in the last few decades. Really fast.

Watching their bodies being jostled in both, I, at sixty-six, will opt for the Z06 - the GT3 seemed to have a really rough ride. When younger, I could afford neither, now, at sixty-six, give me creature comforts!
Having Britt Casey Jr interview was the absolute best. He was able to break down all of the nuances of each car and that really helps us buyers see things through his lenses. We can make our buying decisions with his insight. Hope this style of video production is in all comparison videos. Thanks :)
The C8 is a very well styled sports car body, never failing to pique my interest. It also strikes me as a bit of overreach, in that it may not age well. Yesterday, I saw a C8 and C7 within about 15 minutes while driving and was struck by how graceful the C7 body remains, despite its technical obsolescence. If Chevrolet can control themselves with the ridiculous carbon fiber parts - splitter, wing, engine intake, and silliest of all the ‘diffuser’ - the C8 stands a chance of one day being the only Corvette, as they got the important stuff really right.
The quality!!! Rivals C&D Lightning Lap in terms of manufacturer support and track analysis, except way more focused obviously. Thanks to you guys and the manufacturers!
Thank you for making this video. I’m so happy that the Porsche and Corvette team chose your channel to do this head to head - this is for the true car enthusiast that appreciates instead of diss other people’s vehicles
Tip of the hat to the Porsche and Corvette teams for helping to make this thoroughly enjoyable video possible, as well as Savageese. Their passion is uplifting.
Great comparison and while I'm a Porsche fan, the Corvette makes more sense: more grunt with a bit less finesse, less expensive, much better adapted to the task of daily driving. And the flat plane V-8 soundtrack at 8600 RPM narrowly beats the Boxer 6 at 9000.

I can't believe the oil temperatures in the Z06! 185F while on track is seriously impressive. The Z06 takes 5W-50 weight oil. My question is, wouldn't a 50W oil work more efficiently at 210-225F due to its high viscosity? Z06 engineers clearly worked this out, but I'm just curious.
@rootsmanuva82: That's not how viscosity works with such multigrade oils. The lower the left number the higher the viscosity (and the lower the friction). The higher the right number the better the high temperature stability.
Hats off to chevrolet and thier team for matching the GT3's peformance at a more affordable price. I presonally like the proportions of the porsche over the corvette, but if I were to choose, my money would be on the vette because you will get more miles dollar for dollar with the vette. Great job on this! As someone who has basically done scientific research for a living, I really appreciate the experimental approach you did here and it must have been a lot of work. It is really amazing that the corvette can do what it does with the bones of an American classic at a somewhat attainable price, and I can appreciate that the porsche is a lighter and better tuned machine that will reward your skills. Which would I buy? That's a tough call but I'm a long way from having the money anyway. BTW I'm a patreon supporter for several years now, please keep on doing what you're doing!
Worth mentioning that you could rip off sound insulation from Z06, remove all rubber from the suspension - and that would be a different conversation. Porsche doesn't have this from the factory. Huge props to Porsche and GM team for making this happen.
@@DBravo29er I wasn't talking about engines, I was talking about daily drive comfort and harshness of the chassis. Corvette is a Maybach comparing to GT3. And reliability issues would follow imo, GT3 engine is already maxed out.
@@jass7981 nah, I think ZR1 would still be simillar suspension wise. Gt3RS isn't a competition to ZR1, too low on horsepower (though price wise I think the same ballpark). Gt2rs would be the competition. Though, even GT3RS is borderline unusable, idk if you can even drive it to the track with passenger and 2 helmets, cause there is no space for them. If GT2RS would be the same, that's kinda stupid in the real world, show-off car with no real world usage. Too much sacrifices, while Corvette could be both faster AND usable in a real world. For track only you better buy Porsche Cup Car (which you can actually race).
An outstanding video! Thank you. I've always loved the 911 through the years. So clean and iconic. The ZO6 has American bling while the Porsche has real class.

The Corvette is impressive … have to go with that V8 over a flat-6. My personal issue w/ Porsche is that the exhaust note on Porsches is always & I mean ALWAYS unimpressive. I have yet to hear a single flat-6 that sounds good. High-pitched screeching is not enjoyable.
Wow Great test ! I held the ACC south track roof car track record for the first 5 years .Joey Hand BMW factory driver with an ALMS M3 was a few tenths faster. 1:24.9. This being stated, My Meissen Engineering GT1 Corvette was not a street car and 331 cubic inch engine with 638 HP at the crank. Shows how fast these street cars are !!! Mark and Jack, thanks so much for your fantastic presentation.
Funny! The Corvette is the clear 100% hands down winner as to what it is, a car,,,, a production street legal, car. The corvette is a car that does everything better at the same time. People will always undercut the corvette because of what chevy has always done, beat competition at their own game for far less money. The best part, the cherry on top! is that ya don't need a trailer to drive the Corvette home after beating on it all day. Corvette on the track Cadillac on the highway. Truly a king among kings on rubber tires.
You guys hit it out of the park with this video. I am a former Chicagoan and have run at Autobahn many times. To see these two machines being hammered was fantastic. I'm a long time P car guy, but as an enthusiast don't discriminate--so have to give Chevrolet kudos for such an incredible value in the supercar realm. Well done.
Gt3 is unobtainable to most buyers even if $ are not limited. The GT3 allocations are few and far between. GT3 Cars w 300 miles selling well over list.
Excellent Coverage, I've learned so much about both these 2 cars and Competition top cars in one session! I especially enjoyed how well you covered the C8 Z06 07, what a Sports Car!
Gentlemen, the best video I have seen in a long time related to a comparison.. I have the money to play in both spaces, and basically, as far as garage furniture, they both have a place in the garage. The only other car I believe needs to be added is electrification or hybrid. Thank you for doing such a great job pushing the limit. Most folks are too afraid of making the call because of the space they live in... keep up the great work. I'm a fan....
It's amazing the ego Europeans have about their cars. When European cars haven't been able to hit 250,000 miles on the odometer since the 90's. For the money, for the performance (when not chasing 10's on a small track), for the ride-quality outside of track days, the Corvette wins in all areas. And yet, the Corvette is still getting ragged on by people in the comment section.
I'm a huge Porsche fan, and have owned several. The bottom line for me is that, according to several reviews, this latest GT3 suspension is to stiff to be a decent roadcar. If I wanted a track day only car, I would set up a pure racecar, and trailer it to the track. For the 992 generation, I think I would rather have a Turbo.
Couldn't be more proud of what the GM engineers have done with the Vette. Sounds like a Ferrari, goes like a bat outta hell, and isn't afraid to throw down with a freaking GT3. Murica!
Even though this was entertaining, it really is pretty academic and - when it would come time to write a check - quite emotional. Even people with deep pockets are not necessarily great track drivers and wouldn't know how to extract the minute differences (just listen to Britt's comments) on the track, nor will any significant percentage of them actually track them. I think this simply, and amazingly, comes down to two things: budget and brand (and/or country) loyalty. In your final thoughts, you really nailed it (except for beating up on the pricing, an argument that is pretty moot if you're a potential buyer of either). They are both incredible, exceptional examples of what real enthusiasts can produce for (financially able) regular people. How awful would it be to have BOTH in your garage?! Thanks for a really great video! This is the golden age of the sports car.
GM be like: Let's make an ultra focused track car, use as much CF as possible to keep the weight down, design an exhaust that is essentially art, then go in and slap a bunch of heavy sound deadning and fake engine noise to undo all the effort. Classic.
And it STILL punches about two times above its price bracket lol. I would imagine a true C8 Z06.R would weigh about 3200 pounds with no sound deadening or any of that.
It's a street car. If you really want to use this for the track, then rip out the insulation, passenger seat and everything else that's not essential. No one is going out to earn a living racing either car so lets not pretend that GM is off the mark for who this targets.
@@Luke-cb3ly Yes. And with wheel horsepower at 490, with 15% driveline loss it’s 576 crank. With 10% driveline loss (ridiculously unrealistic) it’d be 544. So split difference and call it 560. Then for GT3 you have 3223/560 = 5.75 lbs/hp; for Z06 it’s 3666/670 = 5.47. So difference is slight, and as noted in vid low weight plus rws really help GT3 on short track. Longer tracks the Z06 has the advantage.

Hope to get a C8 down the road but that weight concerns me and I love the relative analog feel of my C6 ZR1. A lot of steering input at the limit on that not quite round steering wheel in the Z06. Looks knife edge and tiring.
Finally, this is the longest UA-cam video I’ve ever watched beginning to end.
Huge facts.
@GSTKING Is the GT3 a WAAAAAY better daily driver on the roads than the Z06?????
@GSTKING Get some "Preparation H" for your butt hurt Porsche fanboy. 😂🤣😂 The cold hard FACTS are on all tracks, except maybe a go-cart track, and on the street also the Corvette "Z07" is a faster car, a better all around and more practical daily driver, with WAY MORE driver and comfort features and it STILL costs $100K less than the 911 GT3. You lose all all counts. This video has the FACTS & PROOF and you have your BIASED OPINIONS.
@GSTKING biased dude calls unbiased video biased. 🤣
@GSTKING "The GT# is WAAAAY better." The lap time says you're wrong.
I am grateful to be able to live vicariously through these videos. I unfortunately will probably never own one of these amazing cars, but I can at least get to appreciate the beauty through the internet.
I have to give GM credit, that engine is fantastic.
Great content here. It's really enjoyable hearing the detailed comparison.
Amazing video gents! It is awesome that both manufacturers made this experience happen - these are two tremendous automobiles.
This is just too good for UA-cam. We don't deserve this masterpiece of a production 😭
This is some high end entertainment production quality. Thanks for taking the time to showcase these two awesome vehicles.
This is a true gift to car enthusiasts everywhere. Thank you for your hard work and passion on 2 of the most exciting cars on sale today.
Thankyou GM PORSCHE AUTOBAHN CC & Savagegeese for so generously sharing these fabulous automobiles and your resources!!! I've driven this track at speed many times and you made me feel just like i was right there in the car with you!! Best revue I've ever seen!!
You guys make the best car content on YT hands down. The production, editing, and of course content, is top tier.
probably the only video in years i watched all the way through without stopping or even taking my eyes off the screen. absolutely incredible. i sent this video to my old boss who i assume goes to autobahn frequently in his 944 race car even though its been 12 years since i talked to him LOL
Wow!! What a comparison video!😳💯. The two of you have just set a new standard and benchmark for the industry on comparison videos! Absolutely epic! Looking forward to more videos like this one.🎉
The 911 vs Corvette rivalry has been going on for decades.. And wow, what progress they've both made!
Forget about Porsche, they're in their own league.I'd rather see the Viper come back and rival the Corvette :(
@@robb5828 Viper was great
Watching their bodies being jostled in both, I, at sixty-six, will opt for the Z06 - the GT3 seemed to have a really rough ride. When younger, I could afford neither, now, at sixty-six, give me creature comforts!
The amount of work contributed in this video is unimaginable. Thank you guys for making it happen!🎉
Great work Jack and Mark. You both bring the passion out for everyday drivers like us. Thank you!
I don’t comment much on videos, but felt I had to let you guys know this is exceptional content in every way. Thank you.
Tip of the hat to the Porsche and Corvette teams for helping to make this thoroughly enjoyable video possible, as well as Savageese. Their passion is uplifting.
Savagegeese will always be my choice when looking for top notch production quality, car knowledge, and passion. Keep it up!
So you're really a Corvette fan, not a Porsche fan ...
I rarely comment on UA-cam but just want to show support and boost algorithm. You guys produce the best automotive content here! Love this video so much. Cheers from Thailand!
Great to see an apples to apples type test for once. Times are close enough you can call the cars equals. Well done.
How can u call the cars equal one has about 150hp more
@@henryovalles1163 one has rear steer and weighs100s of pounds less. One is more of a track focused car. One cost 100, 000 more. One has been developed for over 50 yrs. So yes, the Porsche has the advantage .
Nope. The only apples to apples comparison is with equal (or roughly equal) pricing. Period. That is the ONLY totally objective standard to start from.
@@henryovalles1163 and ones much heavier 🤦🏻♂️
@@henryovalles1163 And a lot more weight.
To Mark and Jack thank you so much for your hard work putting this epic video ( and all your others) together for us to enjoy. I couldn't imagine the hours of planning, phone calls , organising of insurances etc that went in to bringing this masterpiece together. The way these mega automotive companies open their doors to you guys allowing full access to the hardware and the people just confirms the respect and admiration they have for you both. There's no doubt your passion resonates with them greatly.. Looking forward to whatever it is you do next. Cheers..
Both amazing cars, I believe that a maxed out corvette zo6 is 100k less than the Porsche and put out a faster time
Man the Covette is proving you dont need 200K money to have a high end look and feel. A base C8 starts at 65K
It's impressive that the 911 can keep up while being down on power.
But it's more impressive that the Corvette can keep up while costing $100k less.
Bigggg weight difference. C8 is quite portly and it's a short track. At VIR, they're different zip codes.
@@corystansbury 1:27 is not a big track.
@@Ethan7s Is that a question or statement? If not a question, we're in agreement, no?
@@corystansbury absolutely maybe.
The Z06 is a masterpiece.
Amazing video chaps, brilliantly filmed and love, love, love the technical discussion and graphics. This really sets your videos aside from other reviews of these cars. Brilliant, thanks!
FYI: The oil temps read lower because the oil temp sensor is not in the traditional location. This has been discussed at length on CorvetteForum.
Awesome video.
Well orchestrated from beginning to end diving deep into all aspects, exterior, interior, performance, streetability, pricing etc….Masterful Job guys 👏.
Not to mention the Visuals and audible symphony of these two incredible Machines.
Thank you for helping us. Its really appreciated.
Great video. Even though it's a bit longer, it kept me watching the whole time. And very fair compairisons...Look forward to your future videos...
Worth mentioning that you could rip off sound insulation from Z06, remove all rubber from the suspension - and that would be a different conversation.
Porsche doesn't have this from the factory.
Huge props to Porsche and GM team for making this happen.
GM will most likely do this with the ZR1 to rival the GT3 RS.
You can bring the Porsche to Deman to add +100ft/lbs of tq and +74hp. Both have options to improve performance.
@@DBravo29er I wasn't talking about engines, I was talking about daily drive comfort and harshness of the chassis.
Corvette is a Maybach comparing to GT3.
And no way Deman would add those insane numbers. Dyno numbers could be highly incorrect due to the methodology of calculations whic is exactly the case with their engines.
@@maximborodyuk3773 Go see Matt Farah's videos on it. Those numbers are legit.
An outstanding video! Thank you. I've always loved the 911 through the years. So clean and iconic. The ZO6 has American bling while the Porsche has real class.
Great video! I choose Gt3. So many people buy it for track days and there is a reason for that. I doubt that someone will buy Z06 just for the track. It is a fine car... interesting, for sure!
Hands down, one of the most informative videos I've ever seen! Well done to all involved! Like you stated in the video, 99% of the viewers will never drive or own these cars but with the detail information that you uncovered gives me the satisfaction of driving and owning. Thanks again for the effort to put this together.
Whoa, how times have changed. The Corvette has a better interior for the first time in a comparison.
One of the best ever car vids on UA-cam.
Fantastic video as always! First and foremost, thanks to the savagegeese guys for putting this together. Secondly, thanks to Porsche and Corvette for supporting a project like this.
For what it's worth I'd have the GT3, with 3 pedals :)
If money was no object GT3 all day long, I don’t care if it’s slower. The Z06 is a hell of a bargain though.
Well done.
Thanks for the kind words
Gt3 is unobtainable to most buyers even if $ are not limited. The GT3 allocations are few and far between. GT3 Cars w 300 miles selling well over list.
I love both the GT3 and Z06 . I would own both of them if I had the cash.
When I watched the video, I realized these two were bouncing and wobbling in the cockpit a lot more in the Porsche. Is it just me?
And yet, the Corvette is still getting ragged on by people in the comment section.
i actually stopped the video to check how many subscribers you had. This type and level of comparison was outstanding. well done.
Nice! Wanted to see a head to head thorough comparison. Thank you!
Love this channel, awesome video guys. Thank you all involved in making this video
The C8 Z06 is the first car to come along in the past 20 years that made me wish I had chosen a different career path...
Murica!
You would be proud of me Danny.. I watched every advertisement until the very end.
How did i miss this video?
5 months ago I have to thank you guy for diligent work you put in to all your work.
Best UA-cam car channel bar none..LOVE the long form stuff like this
Even though this was entertaining, it really is pretty academic and - when it would come time to write a check - quite emotional.
The most engaging, informative and well crafted track comparison video I've ever seen.
The left room for the ZR1 maybe
It's a street car. If you really want to use this for the track, then rip out the insulation, passenger seat and everything else that's not essential. No one is going out to earn a living racing either car so lets not pretend that GM is off the mark for who this targets.
Despite them literally saying in the video that the “fake engine noise” is minimal? Lol, come on man.
I wanna know the track times of an average driver in each car with factory setup.
Its evident you like the Z better
The GT3 almost tied the Z06 with 170 less hp and it's not even the RS
Weight
@@downdemon2378 Not just weight.
German manufacturers all underrate their horsepower. The GT3 dynos about 500 to the wheels. With lower weight it has about same weight/hp as the Z06.
200 kg less......
Great job! Now you only need to get M4 Comp, R8, Huracan, 720, 458, AMG GT, AMR Vantage for a proper GT3 showdown)
Having both the GT3 and the Z06 would be purifying your soul in the River Styx. Just imagine hitting those high rpm notes on the straights
I think it boils down to you can’t go wrong with either car, bravo Savagegeese, bravo.
What an awesome test day. Tires make such a huge difference, thanks for all the extra attention to detail guys. Well done.

This was a good video. I follow both cars and you guys did a splendid job. Continue to do these comparisons. I love them.
The Z06 is objectively better by any measure. I don't care what any of you have to say. It's nearly HALF THE PRICE and FASTER AROUND ANY TRACK. It's better you and wimps can't admit it.
Yeah definitely not half the price from dealer or re sale market.

Thanks also for the tech talk. You covered more important details than other "car guys" that are the things we all want to know.
Not a fan of corvette but it’s the better smarter purchase as the Porsche is overpriced by about 100k get the zo6
Lol it's actually far more than that because you'd need another porsche before you can buy that. 😂
You're clueless @@datdudeinred
No it's not... The Corvette won't have the resale value or reliability of the Porsche for starters. You can't drive a Vette in snow and it handles horribly in wet conditions.
If you have to get this technical in comparison of these two cars then really the ZO6 is a very good car
