@savagegeese what tire psi were they set to? 35psi as shown on the door panel or 24psi as advised for track use? And why lap 7? 7 laps in is obvious the Cup 2 R's traction is well into the decline stage. They last on average of 12-15 miles of hard use before getting spent
@@saltyfloridaman7163 One lap of the South Circuit has about 2 miles. So if you drive one warm up lap your 6th hot lap (or 7th lap overall on new tires) ends at about 12 miles of hard used tire life. So what are you exactly talking about?
I'm not a motoring enthusiast but this channel helps me understand the passion people have for cars better than just about anything I've seen. Thank you guys.
I was going to wax poetic on the awesomeness of this video, however; I think this comment is a far better explanation of why these guys are loved by the car community. Thank god we still have a few remaining high revving N/A sports cars offered for sale in an ever more neutered boosted small displace (or electric) motored world. I look at both of these cars and I can't help but feel a sense of pride. GM looks human again after making the Z06, a world beater from Bowling Green Kentucky. The Porsche on the other hand makes me feel like they made that car for me- the driver, no compromises, just pure speed and passion. Both companies made an emotional decision to make a car that was for us. I just feel like they were both thinking of me when they designed them. The past few years have been shit for all of us. Chevy and Porsche made things better, even if I can't afford either the world is better now that they are here. I haven't seen that in any industry in a long time.
How the hell did you manage to convince both chevy and porsche to come out for this?💀Great job . Been watching since the turbowski days. Good to see you evolve into a form that stays true to your origins and still do well in terms of viewership. Thankful as always. Please keep making these. As soon as I get a job, I will support them.
You're kidding right? Chevy use Porsche and others as the baseline for the C8, and clearly were confident that the Z06 would tie or beat the GT3. I'm not surprised at all.
@John Matthew every single race track shows the Z06 demolish the 911 GT3 as well, yet somehow this guy got slower in the Z06... he's multiple seconds slower on average compared to the average driver setting hotlaps
@@saltyfloridaman7163 Well, they did spend the first 3m of the results talking about the environment and how they tried to make them equal each time, not sure if that changed the results. I love that GM and Porsche are still carrying the torch for N/A powered supercars as so many other manufactures are ditching them. Corvette could've gone with a supercharged Lt5 and called it a day, but instead they made an all new flat plane crank V8 and still pushed more power than the old Lt4.
I can't get over how you guys accomplish these kinds of things. I can't believe you guys take this much care and effort to bring us this kind of information. It's appreciated.

The fact that you're willing to take the risk on a production like this really says something about the channel's ethos and dedication to car enthusiasts. I loved the part showing the data of the cars going around the track where you could see how differently each car handled the corners from entry to exit. I could not have dreamed of a better comparison video, and to have it done so beautifully by Savagegeese... it just doesn't get any better. I have loved Porsche's and Corvettes since childhood, who hasn't right? But that C8 Corvette, and specifically the Z06, just makes me feel... I can't believe I'm saying this... but it makes me proud to be an American. I LOVE the GT3, but, it's a Porsche. It's almost "supposed" to be amazing. Then I look at the Z06, and what it is, and what it can do, and I'm like: F#$& YEAH!!!! I don't think I've EVER wanted something I absolutely do not need and really can't afford in my life. It is so freaking awe-inspiring. I just want to buy one to not only enjoy, but to thank Chevrolet for bringing it to life. Thank you, Mark and Jack, for showcasing your amazing abilities with yet another awesome video. If I ever do buy a Corvette, Chevrolet is going to owe a portion of that sale to your work. Bravo gentlemen. BRA-VO!!!!
Man, it is fantastic to see the strides Jack has made as a presenter over the years. He makes it look so easy. And the production quality is off the charts! Amazing work, both of you!
The camera angles on this video were incredible, thank you for making this. I'm a fan of German cars but I have say the zo6 seems like a tremendous value (even tho it's extremely expensive) and Porsche nickel and dime for everything. I haven't driven a vette in 15 years but they're raw and fun to drive.
I've been a porche fan since childhood and the gt3 tops my list of dream cars. That said, I break my neck everytime i see a new corvette on the road, the presence of the car is amazing. the corvette being half the price, American made, and the pinical of American engineering makes me second guess my dream garage set up.
I drove both and by far GT3 better to me.... Z06 balance is just off and weight difference is noticeable + from inside the GT3 sounds better and there's more drama while Z06 you need to open roof or windows to enjoy most of it's sound, doesn't scream as good as GT3 oe 458 did for me
@@craigthescott5074 if you care about which is faster then you shouldn't be buying any lol, these are driving experience not 0-60 times, go buy a Tesla and it will destroy these 2 if you want that.... As for sound better in Z06 that's big BS only UA-cam videos will tell you, the fact that Z06 uses noise cancelling tech to improve the sound inside and get rid of unwanted noise it shows why GT3 sound better and more natural, what matters to driver is interior sound and GT3 is simply better, it have more character more noises more intake sound than Z06...... Infact i owned 458 which have similar engine to Z06 but higher RPM yet I still pick GT3 flat 6 over it...... If you want even crazier sound experience go try GT4RS and you will forget about every other car you can buy today (apart of hypercars), another example is GT2RS on UA-cam easily everyone will say GT3 sound better but when driving it I will pick GT2RS over GT3 sound anyday..... Some sounds these car produce can't be recorded or heard in these videos, GT4RS have that crazy intake sound even at 2000RPM that I couldn't hear it after recording with my phone but in person damn it's addictive!!!
I really appreciate this video, and perhaps most of all the comraderie between the Porsche and GM teams, which seems unexpected but really inspiring. I owned a C7 Z06, which was great, but I ordered the C8 Z06 convertible 18 months before it was availalbe, and I picked it up from the dealer last summer. The new Z06 is the best sports car i've ever owned, and I absolutely love it. I drove it 700 miles from Alabama to Miami when I purchased it over 2 days, and it was comfortable, fast, and smooth. More comfortable than I would have expected. Once you hit 500 miles and the rev limiter lifts, that engine is absolute magic. It's really hard to believe when you're driving it that it's an American car - it really drives, sounds, and performs like an exotic. I drove it back to back with my friend's 488 Spyder, and I preferred the Z06 in terms of sound, feel, interior, and tech. I still love the Ferrari body lines just a little better, but all in all I would take the Z06 over the 488 or a Huracan or a GT3 if I'm spending my own money. ALSO - it's more practical than I expected with the frunk and trunk - I can get two carry-ons the back and another and a backpack in the front. Add the Wi-Fi, heated/AC seats, carbon fiber all over the interior (I got the 3LZ trim), etc. - it simply can't be beat unless you're ok spending $300K or more.
Had to watch this video again and again and it is fantastic. A true and fair comparison with a minimum of bias. Chevy and Porsche teams were engaged and gave it their best efforts. The GT3 is a tremendously capable track focused car. The Z06 is a tremendously capable track car that is fun to drive as a grand tourer. Amazing that the Z06 can have all the human creature comforts with head turning looks and match or outperform the world's best designed track focused cars. Congratulations to team Corvette engineers, they accomplished what few have ever been able to do.
@GSTKING Get some "Preparation H" for your butt hurt Porsche fanboy. 😂🤣😂 The cold hard FACTS are on all tracks, except maybe a go-cart track, and on the street also the Corvette "Z07" is a faster car, a better all around and more practical daily driver, with WAY MORE driver and comfort features and it STILL costs $100K less than the 911 GT3. You lose all all counts. This video has the FACTS & PROOF and you have your BIASED OPINIONS.
First of all magnificent production. You guys' videos always add a documentary type style to reviewing cars. It makes it feel like an episode from TV. Second that Z06 engine noise is so crazy.
There could have been more external sound demo, and as for the Z06, I guess the fake engine noise cannot be turned off, so that's a turn-off. Hard to compare excitement level here when one is faking it.
@@Dowlphin Always THE BEST production values on UA-cam by a huge margin. It has always been so. Amazing head to head. I'd still take the Porsche. Keep keeping on. Luv and Peace.
@@Dowlphin I think he made an error concerning the sound in the ZO6. It is not fake at all. The chief engineer of Chevy explained the muffler tips are shaped like a reverse megaphone. This arrangement has the benefit of sending the sound forward to the cabin.
@@ronretired282 Uhm... reverse megaphone? You need to expel the exhaust cases, so you cannot reflect sound pressure forward there. Look at them at 9:44. And that wouldn't mean they're satisfied with the sound. Jack specifically said they're using ASD to remove unwanted frequencies and fake engine noise to add some others, while showing the center speaker between the seats.
Awesome comparison and so close. I own both Corvette and Porsche so it's super cool to see the top dogs in duke it out. The main thing is the rich history that Porsche has on the track from day one with no floundering, no wavering and no compromises. All of their special models from the beginning of their history are valued and highly cherished and Porsche still supports them. GM on the other hand is still a newcomer to this in comparison and my only reservation is will they be able to bang out the laps and compete with the proven quality that Porsche brings to the table. Porsche was winning races in the 1970's with those outstanding racing cars when Chevrolet barely phoned it in with their production Vette. But man did the Corvette engineering catch up fast in the last few decades. Really fast.
THIS is the video we have all been waiting for. A million thanks for creating such a masterful comparison of these two incredible cars. I especially respect how you guys were able to bring the engineering talent together from both teams and then have a true pro level expert driver wring them out like never before in any other comparison. A new benchmark has been created through your efforts. Congratulations and thank you!!!
Among many things. One thing I really appreciate, is how fair you both are in your testing reviews. No bias, just facts. Where there is bias, you'd let us know. Great reviews all the time.
It really rubs me the wrong way to see how much Porche charge for basic “niceties”. Many years ago I looked at getting either a Porche Boxster or a C5 Corvette. The Boxster not only had a higher initial sticker price, but when I looked at adding leather and fancy door sills the price jumped massively. In addition, the Corvette was considerably more powerful. I chose the C5 and I never regretted it.
I am grateful to be able to live vicariously through these videos. I unfortunately will probably never own one of these amazing cars, but I can at least get to appreciate the beauty through the internet.
Mad respect to the Porsche and Corvette teams and everyone else that made this possible. Mark, Jack, you guys are the best. Thank you for your dedication to quality content.
The opening sequence featured some stunning cinematography. The shot of the Corvette sliding sideways was very reminiscent of an iconic Top Gear scene with an R8 and a 911 if I recall correctly. Masterfully done, y'all.
Tip of the hat to the Porsche and Corvette teams for helping to make this thoroughly enjoyable video possible, as well as Savageese. Their passion is uplifting.
Warms my heart: "level of mutual respect between these teams..." That's the way it should be in this little corner of the automotive world. Hope to see this rivalry and tradition continue another 30 or 40 years
Thank you for making this video. I’m so happy that the Porsche and Corvette team chose your channel to do this head to head - this is for the true car enthusiast that appreciates instead of diss other people’s vehicles
Watching their bodies being jostled in both, I, at sixty-six, will opt for the Z06 - the GT3 seemed to have a really rough ride. When younger, I could afford neither, now, at sixty-six, give me creature comforts!
You know, I've owned 2 P cars: a 2006 GTS and a 2010 PannyS (which I still own and dearly love). In watching this video, two things struck me: 1.) The ZO6 requires a lot of erratic steering adjustments throughout an entire corner, and 2.) The lack of brake pedal feedback noted is quite discerning. As such, I give the win to the GT3. Let me explain: I used to race Formula Ford for a while and there I learned the need for absolute trust one gets from steering & brake feedback. Without the ability to trust them 100% of the time, my lap times dropped by seconds. In my PannyS, those two traits are what I depend on every time that I set out to do some quick driving on public roads. I do not saw the steering wheel back & forth and can easily judge where the brake limit and feel are happening. It is these things that makes for great street driving quickly, securely and safely. So, in the end, the P car wins on merits and not brand snobbery. Have a great day everyone.
Seriously? Then you aren't pushing hard if you don't need to make small steering adjustments. Ever seen in-car footage of IMSA/WeatherTech/Trans AM...etc? Drivers are constantly making steering corrections when they move between grip and loss of traction. Heck, I do this in my 2019 SS 1LE and I'm a weekend warrior. The difference for me is unlike you admitted above, I do this on a proper closed course so as to not endanger the general public. And news flash... car is ideal at race/session start and as things come up to temp there is fall off... you will never be 100% comfortable unless you are going slow. Try it sometime it is exhilarating!
Having Britt Casey Jr interview was the absolute best. He was able to break down all of the nuances of each car and that really helps us buyers see things through his lenses. We can make our buying decisions with his insight. Hope this style of video production is in all comparison videos. Thanks :)
Excellent video. A recommendation is to do the video as sold price, not MSRP because it’s misleading. The admin price markups were briefly mentioned but are a key factor. In SoCal you can more easily get a C8 at MSRP and maybe $10k- $25k over for a floor model that is needed ASAP. Porsche on the other hand has dealerships that screw over its clients with 150k-200k+ over (pricing as of yesterday, 4/22/2023) at local shady dealerships like Porsche San Diego or Porsche Carlsbad. So a $175k C8 Z08 v. a $375k+ 992 GT3. It’s time for Porsche to actually solve the dealership problem.
You guys have officially found and blown your niche wide open within UA-cam. So much quality over absolute quantity, which is a rarity now. It's become simply incredible.... a true automotive pleasure to watch in so many regards. We cannot thank you enough. These cars have gotten so insanely good that it seems to be splitting hairs to find where one excels over the other, especially when they spend most of their time on the streets for a lot of buyers. And finally, thank you to GM and Porsche. Where some other high end car manufacturers have openly stated they don't want their cars being benchmarked and compared against one another for these videos, both of these companies were willing to step forward and show the best of what these platforms currently offer with nearly every controllable variable being held equal. It truly feels as if the lap times could have been multiple seconds apart and no one would really have lost. Two world class vehicles.
Amazing jobs guys!! It’d be so tough choosing between these two. I would probably take a manual GT3, but if I couldn’t have that I’d have the Z06 over the GT3 PDK. That Z06 engine is absolutely incredible. Edit: Just got to the timed lap portion. You guys genuinely have better content that what Motor Trend was putting out in its heyday. Everything that I’d want to know about these cars is covered beautifully here.
Thankyou GM PORSCHE AUTOBAHN CC & Savagegeese for so generously sharing these fabulous automobiles and your resources!!! I've driven this track at speed many times and you made me feel just like i was right there in the car with you!! Best revue I've ever seen!!
Thank you for pitting some of the best cars in the world against each other! (The Lotus Emira is very close to my heart, too...) I have a deposit down on the C8 Z06 and while I am patiently waiting, I cannot get enough of my base manual 996 911. Long live gas-powered cars!
I have a 992 GTS and a C6 ZR1. Had a 991.2 GT3. Having both a Corvette and a Porsche allows one to really appreciate the nuances and differences with the cars and corporate philosophies. Love the Porsche and Corvette teams got together to help make this video. Hope to get a C8 down the road but that weight concerns me and I love the relative analog feel of my C6 ZR1. A lot of steering input at the limit on that not quite round steering wheel in the Z06. Looks knife edge and tiring. Finally, this is the longest UA-cam video I’ve ever watched beginning to end. Well done, gentlemen. Very well done.
I know I’m late to the party but this is truly my favorite video you guys have ever released. It brings me an overwhelming sense of happiness that cars like this can still exist in today’s world to inspire people like myself to work harder in the hopes of obtaining them. The production quality and the depth to the video was absolutely top notch, and I cannot thank you guys enough for doing what you do! Also huge shoutout to the guys from GM and Porsche for not only showing such camaraderie, but also for continuing to build cars like these for people like us 🙏🏻

I’ve never commented on UA-cam before, but your videos are by far the best and most technical out there. I have to give credit where it is due. The amount of time and effort must have been tremendous. Keep up with the great work!
Excellent review! You guys are easily the best car review channel out right now with the attention to detail and exposing the actual driving characteristics that the cars you review are capable of. Love it and keep it up!
One of your best videos to date. Amazing to see the manufacturers getting involved. The logistics involved must have been insane. Thanks for making it happen.
The C8 is a very well styled sports car body, never failing to pique my interest. It also strikes me as a bit of overreach, in that it may not age well. Yesterday, I saw a C8 and C7 within about 15 minutes while driving and was struck by how graceful the C7 body remains, despite its technical obsolescence. If Chevrolet can control themselves with the ridiculous carbon fiber parts - splitter, wing, engine intake, and silliest of all the ‘diffuser’ - the C8 stands a chance of one day being the only Corvette, as they got the important stuff really right.
The quality!!! Rivals C&D Lightning Lap in terms of manufacturer support and track analysis, except way more focused obviously. Thanks to you guys and the manufacturers!
Many thanks to you, your team, Porsche team, and GM team. Congrats to us all car enthusiasts, we're all winners and it feels like these two cars are examples of cars where true passion and modern tech meet.
Wow, I think this was one of the best videos I’ve seen on UA-cam. What a showcase, it was incredible to see the collaboration and friendly competition between the two OEMs. Truly amazing cars and it’s crazy to see how far we’ve come. Great video
I can't believe the oil temperatures in the Z06! 185F while on track is seriously impressive. The Z06 takes 5W-50 weight oil. My question is, wouldn't a 50W oil work more efficiently at 210-225F due to its high viscosity? Z06 engineers clearly worked this out, but I'm just curious.
@rootsmanuva82: That's not how viscosity works with such multigrade oils. The lower the left number the higher the viscosity (and the lower the friction). The higher the right number the better the high temperature stability.
Awesome video guys, looks like you had as must a blast making it and telling the story as I did watching it. Thanks for keeping this up, your effort does not go unnoticed!
Congratulations on making such complex, fair, informative comparison, only to deliver the most fair verdict: Each to their own. I know a lot of viewers want a clear cut answer as to which is better, also it would probably create more hype around the video and anger the fanboys if you said "the z06 is so much better" or "forget the corvette, the gt3 is the best car ever", but this is what people have to realise: even if product A is objectively better in one or even most regards than product B, there could be a person who somehow falls for the charm of product B and would not trade it for anything. Once again, thank you for your time, money, energy for putting together such a great video!
The turn-in speeds for the Porsche are so fast in comparison. I knew the Porsche was going to be faster in tighter sections, but I didn't expect it to be THAT fast. This was an awesome video. I learned a lot about both cars and if I were in the market for either, I would have a hard time making a decision, but whatever the choice, either would be the best in their class.
@@DBravo29er bad driver. Every other race track shows the Z06 being over 2 seconds faster and achieving higher G forces. The Z06's tire pressure wasn't at 24psi obviously

And even logically, just think for half a second. Same tires, corvette is heavier and doesn't have rear steer. Also gt3 has spherical bushings in front and better brake feel. By all logic, the gt3 should be faster in the corners. And it is.

They both did
Both used warmers. Corvettes warmers were on a set off of tires off the car.
haha i thought tire warming was a idea only in my mind
@savagegeese what tire psi were they set to? 35psi as shown on the door panel or 24psi as advised for track use? And why lap 7? 7 laps in is obvious the Cup 2 R's traction is well into the decline stage. They last on average of 12-15 miles of hard use before getting spent
@@saltyfloridaman7163 One lap of the South Circuit has about 2 miles. So if you drive one warm up lap your 6th hot lap (or 7th lap overall on new tires) ends at about 12 miles of hard used tire life. So what are you exactly talking about?

I look at both of these cars and I can't help but feel a sense of pride. GM looks human again after making the Z06, a world beater from Bowling Green Kentucky. The Porsche on the other hand makes me feel like they made that car for me- the driver, no compromises, just pure speed and passion.
This is just too good for UA-cam. We don't deserve this masterpiece of a production 😭
I have to give GM credit, that engine is fantastic.
Great content here. It's really enjoyable hearing the detailed comparison.
This is some high end entertainment production quality. Thanks for taking the time to showcase these two awesome vehicles.
You guys keep raising the bar with each video! Stuff like this is the reason why you guys are the only car review channel I watch. Truly great stuff!
Amazing video gents! It is awesome that both manufacturers made this experience happen - these are two tremendous automobiles.
I am grateful to be able to live vicariously through these videos. I unfortunately will probably never own one of these amazing cars, but I can at least get to appreciate the beauty through the internet.
Amazing! I'm still baffled why this channel doesn't have millions of subs.
Probably cause it sounds like a Nat Geo channel for rabid geese
Bible: Swine dis pearls
Because they're not trying to do what the others are doing. Priorities are somewhat different.
cuz they tell it like it is
because it's actually good
Mad respect to the Porsche and Corvette teams and everyone else that made this possible.
Mark, Jack, you guys are the best. Thank you for your dedication to quality content.
Loved the video guys!!
there he is!
Hate all yours. Embarrassing brochure readings for ADHD laden manchildren.
Worst car reviews of any platform to date.
10/10 guys. Absolutely the best 44 minutes of car enthusiast content in any recent memory. You guys have vision and it shows, incredible.
Warms my heart: "level of mutual respect between these teams..."
That's the way it should be in this little corner of the automotive world. Hope to see this rivalry and tradition continue another 30 or 40 years
This is a true gift to car enthusiasts everywhere. Thank you for your hard work and passion on 2 of the most exciting cars on sale today.
Thank you for making this video. I’m so happy that the Porsche and Corvette team chose your channel to do this head to head - this is for the true car enthusiast that appreciates instead of diss other people’s vehicles
The 911 vs Corvette rivalry has been going on for decades.. And wow, what progress they've both made!
Forget about Porsche, they're in their own league.I'd rather see the Viper come back and rival the Corvette :(
@@robb5828 Viper was great
Not enough CVT and corporate buzzwords on the video. Very dissapointed Mark and Jack. Disliked and unsubsribed.
Watching their bodies being jostled in both, I, at sixty-six, will opt for the Z06 - the GT3 seemed to have a really rough ride. When younger, I could afford neither, now, at sixty-six, give me creature comforts!
The 2 most exciting cars out today! Both are pinnacle tier machines that are what dreams are made of. This vid earned a donation!
This level of quality and detail is pretty impressive for just a two man crew, keep up the good work!
The level of in-depth video coverage you guys do is out of this world. Thank You🙏
Having Britt Casey Jr interview was the absolute best. He was able to break down all of the nuances of each car and that really helps us buyers see things through his lenses. We can make our buying decisions with his insight. Hope this style of video production is in all comparison videos. Thanks :)
You guys make the best car content on YT hands down. The production, editing, and of course content, is top tier.
I’ve been watching your channel for years. Y’all truly make reviewing cars an art form. From one car nut to another, thank you for the reviews!
Thank you for the gift❤
Also huge shoutout to the guys from GM and Porsche for not only showing such camaraderie, but also for continuing to build cars like these for people like us 🙏🏻
The editing in SG videos is phenomenal. There’s nothing cut and layered this well on this platform.
Jason Camisa on Hagerty?
@@ganymede3141 I do enjoy his stuff too.
Different vibe though. These guys are more technical and factual. Jason is an entertainer.
Both excellent.
@@ianedmonds9191 True dat, on both counts. 👍
probably the only video in years i watched all the way through without stopping or even taking my eyes off the screen. absolutely incredible. i sent this video to my old boss who i assume goes to autobahn frequently in his 944 race car even though its been 12 years since i talked to him LOL
Wow!! What a comparison video!😳💯. The two of you have just set a new standard and benchmark for the industry on comparison videos! Absolutely epic! Looking forward to more videos like this one.🎉
I’ve never commented on UA-cam before, but your videos are by far the best and most technical out there. I have to give credit where it is due. The amount of time and effort must have been tremendous. Keep up with the great work!
Thank you for the kind words.
I like their video on engine break-in.
Huge shoutout to Porsche NA and GM teams for letting this happen💪
Excellent review! You guys are easily the best car review channel out right now with the attention to detail and exposing the actual driving characteristics that the cars you review are capable of. Love it and keep it up!
One of your best videos to date. Amazing to see the manufacturers getting involved. The logistics involved must have been insane. Thanks for making it happen.
The amount of work contributed in this video is unimaginable. Thank you guys for making it happen!🎉
Great work Jack and Mark. You both bring the passion out for everyday drivers like us. Thank you!
The quality!!! Rivals C&D Lightning Lap in terms of manufacturer support and track analysis, except way more focused obviously. Thanks to you guys and the manufacturers!
It's about time that an American sports car can even compete. Never thought Corvette would be that brand.
The Corvette has been a competent competitor for decades.
vettes have been real since 1984.
Two tremendous cars. Two tremendous reviewers. Exceptional production. What a fun video to watch and enjoy. Thank you!
Many thanks to you, your team, Porsche team, and GM team.
Congrats to us all car enthusiasts, we're all winners and it feels like these two cars are examples of cars where true passion and modern tech meet.
Eyes closed...I' d take the Corvette! Excellent video!!!👏
Wow, I think this was one of the best videos I’ve seen on UA-cam. What a showcase, it was incredible to see the collaboration and friendly competition between the two OEMs. Truly amazing cars and it’s crazy to see how far we’ve come. Great video
I don’t comment much on videos, but felt I had to let you guys know this is exceptional content in every way. Thank you.
I have a Z06 and I’d like nothing more than get a GT3 to complement it in my garage… both incredible machines for sure.
FYI: The oil temps read lower because the oil temp sensor is not in the traditional location. This has been discussed at length on CorvetteForum.
I know, right? Porsche was +10mph in multiple corners at entry.
@@DBravo29er bad driver. Every other race track shows the Z06 being over 2 seconds faster and achieving higher G forces. The Z06's tire pressure wasn't at 24psi obviously
@@saltyfloridaman7163 😂
@@saltyfloridaman7163 GM and Porsche were there and set up the cars. Someone didn't watch the video. How are you salty even though the Corvette was faster? And even logically, just think for half a second. Same tires, corvette is heavier and doesn't have rear steer. Also gt3 has spherical bushings in front and better brake feel. By all logic, the gt3 should be faster in the corners. And it is.
@Miles why am I salty? Can you read my name please? I'm here to produce arguments, arguments produce comments, comments require views, views make money for the channel ❤
Great job putting this together guys! Fantastic exposition of two engineering masterpieces. Much respect to both OEMs for standing toe-toe.
You guys produce one of the best car review programs available anywhere. This was, quite simply, the best show you've done. That's saying quite a lot!
Insane review! Congrats to the Corvette winning, both are insanely good cars! To think the GT3 has basically the same lap time with 200hp less is crazy. Thanks for the work savage!
Porsche normally underrates their horsepower by a large number. Stock the GT3s dyno around 500 at the wheels
@@markw9512 plus the weight difference .. weight to power ratio is what we should measure here
@@saeed5853 Yeah, good point.
@@saeed5853 care to calculate? I'm too lazy XD
@@markw9512 Never actually seen a Porsche flat six NA doing 500 to the wheels on stock configuration. Care to share any link to dyno sheets? My 991.2 Manual is around 460 at the wheels and shoud be on the higher side given the expected lower transmission loss
Love the approach to this video. It’s not about competition but a celebration of what is possible.
An outstanding video! Thank you. I've always loved the 911 through the years. So clean and iconic. The ZO6 has American bling while the Porsche has real class.
Absolutely amazing machines. Very nice to see a long format video, especially for such significant cars. I'd love to own one of these someday, hopefully my Z06 order gets fulfilled before it goes out of production!!
I really appreciated the over-the-shoulder cam for the lap times, seeing the amount of work he did with his hands was quite telling.
