Parents of Karen Read, woman charged in Boston officer’s death: ‘My daughter will be free’

- The parents of a woman charged in a Boston Police officer’s death say they’re confident in their daughter’s innocence as her legal fight continues.
Karen Read, the girlfriend of late Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, has been accused of backing over her boyfriend in Canton, MA, and leaving him to die in a January 2022 blizzard.
She was charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a collision in connection with O’Keefe’s death. The case has drawn national attention over claims of a cover-up. A Facebook page called, Justice For John O’Keefe & Karen Read (Mass corruption) has more than 18 thousand followers.
In Massachusetts, second-degree murder includes when a person intentionally kills another without premeditation.
“We’ll resolve these issues,” William Read, father of Karen Read, told Investigative Reporter Ted Daniel. “My daughter will be free. That’s what I believe.”
William Read says his daughter told him she thought she “struck something” while she was at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where O’Keefe was pronounced dead.
The father denied that Karen Read thought she struck O’Keefe.
“No, no, no,” William Read said. “She felt she struck something. She said: ‘Dad, I think I struck something.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ This was in the hospital, she says, ‘I remember backing up and hitting something, but I can’t say what it was’ and at this point, she’s frantic.”

Karen Read’s parents say she and O’Keefe became serious in 2019 right before the Covid pandemic.
“They just seemed to be in a happy place, you know,” Karen’s mother Janet Read said.
The Reads shared multiple pictures of the smiling couple at family events and on vacation.
Daniel also reviewed surveillance video showing Read and O’Keefe laughing and embracing at C.F. McCarthy’s, a restaurant and bar in Canton.
According to police, Karen Read would back over O’Keefe and leave him for dead in a snowstorm less than 3 hours after the bar video was recorded. In court documents, police estimated that Read’s blood alcohol level would have been between .13% - .29%. at 12:45 a.m., the time they believe O’Keefe was struck.
Police determined Read backed over O’Keefe after dropping him at 34 Fairview Road where a party was taking place. At the time, the home was owned by another Boston police officer named Brian Albert.
‘SUCKER PUNCHED’ IN THE BASEMENT THEORY:
William Read told Daniel he believes O’Keefe was lured to the late-night gathering and quickly ended up in the basement.
“I think John O’Keefe entered that house, was sucker punched, a fight ensued, and he was overwhelmed,” he said.
William Read suggested O’Keefe was dragged out of the house through a basement bulkhead, taken around the side of the house, and placed near the road where he was found unresponsive in a snowstorm later in the morning.
Hospital medical records detailed O’Keefe’s injuries: including his eyes swollen shut black and blue, a cut on his right eyelid, a cut to the left side of his nose, a two-inch laceration on the back of his head, multiple skull fractures, and six bloody cuts of varied length on his right forearm from his forearm to bicep.
Read’s defense team has argued that police failed to seriously consider any of the party attendees as potential suspects.
According to the Norfolk County DA’s office, eight people inside the home and three more outside testified that O’Keefe never entered, and the office states that GPS data from O’Keefe’s phone supports that.
William Read suggested that the alleged attack was kept secret from most of the people inside the Albert home, including teenagers celebrating a birthday, and only a limited number of adults were aware of it.
Ted Daniel asked Read’s parents: “if the events happen the way Karen’s attorneys say they did, how many people would have to be involved in the cover-up?”
Read’s father said: “My sense is that there are a handful of people, influential people, who know what happened.”
The Norfolk DA’s Office tells Daniel, “There was no conspiracy or cover-up,” and “such claims have been systematically refuted by evidence submitted to Norfolk Superior Court and provided to the defense.”
Oh, and as a former employee of a Veterinary Hospital, those ARE dog bites!
They are claiming no dog DNA but I’m sure that the body was cleaned by someone in the coroners office or it just wasn’t reported. Money talks.

They look far more like claw marks to me. I’m a 40 yr nurse with a lot of E/R experience. The injuries to the head do nit look like a collision with a car in my experience.

I know many troopers and several rogue attorneys who are connected to them. They began targeting me a long time ago, after I divorced one, and they engaged in many set up attempts and cover ups. I've been watching this trial with no other prior knowledge of this case and I am convinced that Karen Read is innocent and that The Defense's Case is solid. It's addicting to watch seeing Police and First Responders caught in this scandalous real life drama. The Albert's & McCabe's will be in prison before the sun sets on this story.

Is it normal to wake up a few hours after dropping your boyfriend safely off at a house in the middle of the night and panicking that he was hit by a snow plow and was dead? Makes no sense. She was extremely drunk, driving under the influence, and clearly woke up with a vague memory that something bad happened. This is a straightforward case that has been marketed as a conspiracy theory.

And on top of her normal behavior was everyone’s lack of concern, blatant apathy towards where John is or what happened to him, yet extreme hostility towards her all of a sudden, while she was the only one who was looking for him and preforming cpr and visibly beside herself trying to make sense of what happened to him. Not one of his colleagues or “friends” came out of the house with all the screaming and emergency personnel on your front lawn because the man you were partying with… a fellow officer… is dead on your lawn? The woman was drunk .... that's part of the recklessness... 9:08 a.m. - Read's blood is drawn at Good Samaritan Medical Center. A forensic toxicologist said it revealed her blood alcohol content was . 07% - . 08% and opined that around the time of 12:45 a.m., her BAC would have been......... that evidence is coming up.... Recall this Was 9 hours later drunk
They tested her blood hours later and they said she would of tested higher at the time of the incident.
She could have opened a bottle of wine back at John's house whilst she slept on couch. And her MS may have played a part ...but that is not a fact yet in evidence

For one, the 'higher' part is just an extrapolation, a guess, and the results were an ultra-wide range running from .08 (barely buzzed) to something like 2.9 (which would be like unwalkable drunk). All the bar footage of Karen showed no signs of any impairment and that is a far more reliable indicator.

But she told her parents she hit something. Trouble is she was drunk still and had no memory. Tough case her drinking is not helping her case.
And yet, there are these pesky mounds of exculpatory evidence that prove you wrong:
The DOJ hired an independent accident reconstruction expert who concluded John O'Keefe's injuries were NOT caused by a vehicle. They _also_ determined that the minor damage to the vehicle was not indicative of the vehicle having lethally smashed into a 6-foot-tall man.
The Feds proved Jen McCabe searched "Hos long to die in cold" at 2:27am, then deleted her search history. Why would an innocent person do that? Why would an innocent person delete their search history right before giving their device to cops???
The snow plow driver confirms there was NO body on the lawn at 2:30 and 3:30am.
The day Karen Read was charged w/ the crime, Jen McCabe texted Trooper Michael Proctor's sister to say she'd like to get him a thank you gift "when this is all over."
After Trooper Proctor had Read's vehicle in his possession for an unaccounted for *HOUR,* tail light pieces surfaced. Video shows Proctor & the tow-truck driver taking Read's car an hour earlier than what time was written in the report. The tow-truck driver noted "in-tact" tail lights.
The actual killer, Colin Albert, and the Albert/McCabe families, go way back w/ Trooper Michael Proctor, who admitted to the Federal Grand Jury that he "minimized" his relationship w/them to the State Grand Jury. He's now personally under investigation for improoriety.
We know Colin Albert had beef with John O'Keefe and was young, dumb, and wasted when John arrived at Colin's 20th birthday party on the night in question. Brian Albert has been one of BPD’s most respected officers for years. What do you think is better for the Boston Police Department - having John O’Keefe’s killer be a highly respected fellow officer who appeared on TV shows & solved the Boston Strangler mystery, or having it be a "drunken girlfriend?"
The Alberts were willing to do anything to keep themselves out of prison for the next 30+ years. Who'd be better at getting a body from house to lawn w/o being noticed than a Boston PD surveillance expert? He knew he could use his family connections w/ the Canton & State Police to keep them from asking him probing questions, taking pictures of his face/hands, and from questioning his nephew, Colin. He knew police would normally search his house, which is likely why he made phone calls that night at 2am - to make sure it never happened. He could disprove these allegations by handing over his phone, but he _DESTROYED IT_ despite the evidentiary court order prohibiting it.
Witness & Firefighter/Medic, Katie McLaughlin, graduated from Canton High w/ Caitlin Albert in 2014. They're in the same friend group & hung out many times. McLaughlin was at the scene when O'Keefe's body was found. She's the _ONLY_ witness who claims to have heard Karen say she hit John, and not only is she biased, but was also potentially influenced by the call Kevin Albert made to her the day after she assisted O'Keefe on Caitlin's lawn.
*Canton PD's Kevin Albert, Brian Albert's brother, arranged Katie McLaughlin's interview* w/ MSP Trooper Proctor _AFTER_ Canton PD was expelled & Massachusetts State Police took over the investigation (due to the _conflict of interest_ between Kevin & Brian).
When the defense asked Ms. McLaughlin who arranged her interview with Trooper Proctor, DA Lally objected & _Judge Cannone sustained the objection!_. Lally also objected to the jury seeing photos of McLaughlin & Caitlin Albert together at various social events. Judge Cannone again sustained the objection!
The jury's being deprived of hearing the many ways in which the Alberts had their hands in this investigation, even after special measures were taken to prevent them from doing so. The judge is also preventing the jury from understanding the biased nature of Ms. McLaughlin's testimony. The jury must instead infer the truth solely from Jackson's unanswered questions of McLaughlin. This is a violation of Karen Read's rights & prohibitive of a fair trial.
I remind you that a man was found deceased on Brian Albert's lawn, and NOBODY in his home at the time was ever investigated. The home was never SEARCHED. Trooper Proctor actually texted friends that the Alberts wouldn't be investigated because Brian was "a Boston cop too." The corruption is *_staring you in the face!_*
She hit the car when she was backing and broke a tail but, she didn’t hit Jonh
It’s on video she backing into Officer John O’Keefes car outside their house, when she leaves to go look for him. It’s so much coverup in this case. She is 100% innocent.
And the taillight was only cracked, but after police towed it and had it in their possession it was suddenly all broken. Also the lead investigator Michael Proctor Lied about when he picked up the car, he had it for 90 undocumented minutes, and after that he “suddenly” found taillight pieces on the already searched scene.

thats not good. I would totally remember backing into a car or if I backed over a body even if drunk. But yes I get that "Some" people get so drunk they black out.

All 20 people were that night and every witness so far that was with Karen Read and John Okeefe that night said she did not seem intoxicated.
Maybe , but she is charged with that .

Idk if she hit him or not, but 4 weeks into trial there's zero chance of conviction and pisses me of she was even charged. Better 1 guilty go free, than 10 innocent be charged. We have to remember that!
Stop spamming with your one opinion. Watch the trial with an open mind like some of us have done. Something stinks in Canton.
