Title track from one of the earlier Spys albums, one of their classics.
Spy v Spy, also known as v. Spy v. Spy, The Drug Grannies and The Spies, were an Australian ska/pub rock band from Sydney formed in 1981. They became known for tackling political issues through their music, including racism, homelessness and contemporary drug culture. They were named after a comic strip, "Spy vs. Spy" in the US Mad magazine.

Bloxom's bass lines are reasonably simple but so incredible that, combined with his vocals, they sometimes bring me to tears.
The Spies, great Sydney band that never got the acclaim they deserved.I have all their records from the 80's but must admit to have not played them in a long time.
Great review guys. I think this was filmed at Norfolk Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean up above New Zealand. Other great Spy v Spy songs are Injustice, Clarity of Mind, Don't Tear it down and Sallie-Anne. Spies are very popular in Brazil.

I saw The Spies at Penrith League's during their A.O. Mod. TV. Vers tour. This show was my one experience of seeing a band and not knowing anything about them and I was totally blown away. All the old tv's flickering on the stage, Craig yelling at who ever in control of the smoke machine, it was fierce in your face, so much power in a 3 piece. Went out the next day and bought all their albums.

They had the change their name from spy vs spy to vspy vspy because of that old mad magazine cartoon.
This might sound daggy, cheesy or even strange, however, v Spy v Spy were a 'Real Rock Band'
Everything about them was quality.
These guys lived and rehearsed in a Glebe (inner Sydney) squat for 7 years upon their Drummers request to 'move in'.
I stumbled across the Band in 1981 when they were supporting someone whose name I forget.
Could've been Bryant's Manly Vale in Winter 1981.

The Royal Antler, Narrabeen
I've still got the 7" single "Do What You Say" and their E.P. "Four Fresh Lemons"

Their albums and singles were of high quality.
They were highly respected and not under rated.

I got to see the spies many times in Newcastle and Port Stephens. Awesome live. The first time i head this song i jumped out my seat to find out more and then bought the Album. Thanks for showcasing it.

harry is a slang for heroin, " i see the needle in a hundred haystacks, and i see the haystacks waiting..." they lost many friends to this crap and the song sally anne is about hooker killed by someone doing a deal, the sallyanne huckstep story is a who's who of underworld figures and police corruption
