@@kianhughes6309 If happiness was a choice, everyone would just choose to be happy instantly.
Happiness isn't a choice, but attitude is. What you do about your unhappiness is a choice.
I didn't choose to wake up depressed, but I did choose to go to the gym because I know the gym helps. Therefore, happiness can be attained through choice, but the actual feeling of happiness is not a choice in and of itself.

I think that happiness translates to "perfect ideal state" for alot of people (a smile, feelings of being generous, future looks bright and fun are some common side affects) and I think it becomes harder to find as you get older.
Contentment is hard to find when your younger but gets easier to find as you get older which translates to "ideal state" (common side effects are steady mood, roll with the punches, function without a fuss on a daily basis)
The reasons happiness becomes harder to find (I think) is mostly because you become more acquainted with reality either consciously or unconsciously.
So although I agree it's a choice like fitness, health etc it requires more effort for some people to obtain and that effort can be the difference between "you need to take out the trash" to "you need to run a marathon"

But it is a choice just the same if you decide to be unhappy it's a choice you make by seeing what you want to see. Someone can come out of a bad situation and find something good from it or they can focus on the bad, why me and remain unhappy

Choice comes after age 40 or 45.
Before 45 we do experience everything with very less knowledge 😀

Happiness isn't a choice, attitude is.
You can't choose how you feel.
You can only choose your attitude towards things and having a positive attitude.

Naval, I love it. "If you are so smart, then why are you not happy?" I am the founder, CEO of a social network, and I say. "If someone says something too stupid, then why do you reply?" To me, to walk up to the stupid people are a cocktail party is a choice for me to be stupid, we are who we hang around with.... I like to let stupid die for lack of attention Life is good, Andy Lee Graham world traveler.
