Exactly. These videos are kinda annoying. I get it they are motivational, but just show the actual footage. I am getting to the point not wanting to click on these videos. I agree they probably don't own the rights, but its odd they can play the audio seems kinda weird. They are both copyrighted.
It’s a copyright thing -- with the different visuals, this falls into the category of transformative use. This way they won’t risk being sued while republishing an unedited or barely changed video might be possible if they can find the file, that would invite the risk of a lawsuit which by transforming the visuals the make near negligible.
I came to the comments to write exactly this! Loved the verbal content, but the stock footage of random people was so distracting. Would have preferred a regular interview.

It's a line from Van Wilder. When Van is giving his interview to Tara Reid's character, he talks about an old friend who gave him that advice.
Unfortunately, some will watch this and mess up their lives. "Don't take life too seriously" is not about being completely laissez-faire or reckless without course, It's about not being deterred by life's challenges and to not be afraid of failure. Ryan took his passion seriously, he also was not afraid to sacrifice a year to try out what he believed in. He HAD a plan! he didn't just travel and go to clubs, he researched agencies in LA and called in and interviewed and auditioned... He put in work guys!
Agreed. What he's saying is, don't take too much stress. Unfortunately, this might goad some viewers into thinking don't take stress at all. Stress is what moves one in tough situations, and life's full of them!

Stress and pressure is like a hammer to the newly crafted knife. The weight of the impact shapes us, sharpen us... But too much could break that knife and have to redo all over again.

We were fortunate to know Ryan’s mom as we grew up. She was a truly lovely and perceptive person and a favorite friend of my sister. When we became aware of Ryan and saw his charisma, he was an obvious reflection of his mom. Real guy

Ryan is the definition of motivation. You don't just see him doing something, you also feel it and it inspires you to want to do the same. To paraphrase Tolkien, he regularly shows us his quality, his selflessness is so modest and it's an example for us all to follow.

He's on the money. When you don't express yourself you get sick. My mother had 5 bouts of cancer before she died. She held SO much in. Psychologists find that cancer victims survive 4 times longer than expected when they have a SAFE session with a therapist, co-operate and express their true feelings. Amazing the power the mind has!
Any source to that 4x longer life claim? Seems doubtful
My mom believed that - when you don't express your feelings it can contribute to getting cancer.
Check out Gabor Maté - When the Body Says No or just any of the UA-cam videos with him. The issue with repressing your emotions is that you become unconscious of when the emotions are there and as a result can’t act on them. Long term it will result in chronic stress that destroys the body in various ways since it creates imbalance within the hormonal-, immune- and nervous system which are innerconnected systems related to emotions.

I have so much respect for Ryan. You can tell the way he interacts with people on and off screen that he genuinely cares, which comes through in his acting superbly. I love that you took your career slowly. You are so true to yourself. It is tough being the youngest in the family, being the "punching bag" (I know that do) and just surviving high school to get out of there. I am so glad you are successful Ryan and I wish you and your family all the best! (By the way, The Proposal was my favorite film of yours)

For movie lovers it's paramount to get to know the actors that are behind our heroes. Ryan is such a great example.
Reminds me of something Frank Capra said of Jimmy Stewart. He said most people compliment actors by saying "Great actor!" but they complimented Jimmy and said he was a great man.
I owe this guy for Mint Mobile. As an older person with a very limited income having a reliable inexpensive phone bill has been a life saver. Thanks Ryan for putting that out there.

His greed to take more than his share has put more people into poverty and his mobile service, like all mobile carriers, expose users to radiation that can cause health issues even possibly cancer. I love that he loves his parents, brothers and wife and that he has children. He's a wonderful man and so funny and handsome and humble.
Just love this guy. He just makes sense of things and with humor too! Rare gift.
All his humor is rated R. I wouldn't ever want this man to rise my kids. They would act just like all his characters he plays, jocks and bullies. Only in Western society we promote these kinds of behavior. And here we are having kids shoot each other in school.

This is what like about Ryan Reynolds as a person. When asked about very sensitive questions, he answers it jokingly without downplaying the situation. Solidifying what he stated about never taking life too seriously.

Ryan is my favorite celebrity in terms of character. He is so transparent about what he does that he comes out as friendly and naturally funny, not as a scripted famous guy who has managers thinking for him and writing everything he says.

Hearing this interview really captured my attention. From the similarities of having older family in the household to having proud and strong parents. All of this resonated with me on a personal level. I believe that being hyper perceptive is a blessing and a curse. It is indeed a self-defense mechanism but it can also become a wall too. For me hearing these interviews helps me refocus and remember what is most important.
"Less like a younger brother and more like a moving target"
This was basically my experience as the youngest, having an older brother who used me as 'entertainment'
So much of what you see on UA-cam of Ryan is him doing quick one line-ers. And they are super fun to listen to, but hearing this interview was so great to see a more serious side of him! I would never want him to give up his flair for the one-liners, but it would be great if he would do more interviews like this one!
Wow. That last line:
"But, in the end, you know, that loss of self...of not quite knowing where you stand, at-in any given moment is pretty tough, so...I wonder if some of those underlying ideas, or reasons we DO get sick, or sicker, is we're not sort of expressing ourselves or letting things out."
He's incredibly perceptive. Ancient hindu ideas of health and sickness are largely said to be caused for those reasons.
I love that Ryan said, anxiety and phobias were assets not liabilities! I tell this to clients all the time. In fact, Dr. David Burns says, It's not what's wrong with you, but what's right with you that's the "problem" (humor). In other words, there are lots of smart, good reasons to feel the way you do and when you embrace that it enables you to view things very differently. It is a paradox though. Once you embrace fear it not only loses it's power over you but often its dissipates, even disappears. And the idea that our minds and body's are connected and perhaps illness is influenced by our thoughts has merit in the research. Dr Gabor Mate has a book, "When Your Body Says No" that dive into this idea from one perspective, cancer, stress, and being "nice".
Wow! I just bought that book. Now I am even more motivated to read it!

One of the nicest things about Ryan is his face, we would have liked to have seen a lot more of him as he spoke rather than all those little montages of other people. He's great.
Knowing that Ryan Reynolds was a lot like me now is honestly super motivating. I always had an interest in acting and I wanted to become an actor but I was always really shy and quiet to the point where I was always alone and didn’t have friends. Was never really that confident either.
He's in my top 5 best actors of all times love his movies. I never knew he was in a sitcom tho. Definitely going to look it up.

Love the phrase "Don't take life to seriously because you'll never get out alive." I always thought Ryan Reynolds was an out going fearless person then I heard him say in an interview that he would have fear and anxiety before appearing on stage. I never would have thought that would happen to a person so charismatic. After hearing him speak so openly and honestly about his personal struggle made me realize how we all struggle and by facing are fears is the best way to deal with life regardless of the outcome.
WOW, first of all, idk how you did it, but this is the first time I’ve heard Ryan speak without even having the “sarcastic” feel to him. This felt very genuine and from his heart.

I'm a huge Ryan fan, and I've never seen this side of him. I always sensed it, and I always knew I wanted to be more like Ryan because of his wit. I actually talked to my therapist about it, because of the very thing he talks about - survival. I'd be in situations where being emotional, honest or too serious had bad consequences... so I wanted to learn how to be funny or witty to get out of those situations. Understanding more of his life history, how it progressed slowly, and how he learned and perfected his crafts really helps me in my own life. I appreciate this interview, and look forward to more!

Ryan is one of those actors you just want to love, see what he is in. They don't have to be Oscars. He is very likeable and I would imagine a very loving family man who leaves his ego on the shelf. Like Tom Hanks. A great mentor.

Great interview! He's completely relaxed, transparent and I received this as being very genuine and non-scripted (pun intended). I must admit, other than seeing Mr. Reynolds in some movies, I never knew much about him. Good insights! I did read or hear once that he doesn't drink alcohol, so that's one way I can totally relate with him. After hearing this interview, it's clear we share some very similar beliefs as well. For me, it's my faith, family and health as the most important things in life! Period. Full stop.

I have always loved watching Ryan Renolds movies for his way of making me laugh. I would love to meet him in person. I am a disabled Veteran whom can not go out much, or do much but he inspires me to live life to the fullest. I hope he is happy because I will never get enough of his humor in the movie scenes.
Such a powerful speech, I will always have so much gratitude and respect towards Ryan Reynolds, I related to a lot of different aspects and life obstacles he has went through, the more you overcome in life, the more stronger you become because of your experiences and that's probably the highlight of everything.

I was a vendor at the premier of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, arguable the worst x-men film of all time in Phoenix Arizona... but after the red carpet where hugh jackman rode his Indian and they did the full press junket Ryan came up to us and asked for a slice of pepperoni pizza.. I was 22 at the time, 6'1" and 180 and he was just about the same size, maybe an inch or two taller... he actually slumped his shoulders and made sure to be eye-contact level with me and thanked me sincerely for his slice... There is a man we can all admire and believe in... Can't wait for Deadpool 3

He’s dead-right about how it is to be the youngest of 4. I always described it as having bullies you’re forced to live with.
This is definitely worth a few watches - His key points of not being afraid to risk, putting himself in a position where he HAD to make things work, the SLOW progression of his success, as well as the observation that fame had wreaked havoc on many of those in the industry. Outstanding.

Beautifully done. When I was in science, I forced myself. . . as soon as I did something that I could get through the day with, working life got better.
That last part gave me chills where Ryan wonders if the reason we get sick is because we're not expressing ourselves/letting internal emotions out...
I worked with many well recognized doctors and many privately say the same thing. They can't say it out loud because the patients don't want to hear it.
Here in Canada I went to University (UPEI) at age 34 for three months. Then a technical college (Holland College) for 2 years. Massive difference. I highly recommend going to a school of some sort when you're young and your brain is at peak performance.
Agree 100%. I went at age 26 and got engineering degree. So glad I didn't wait any longer. Your brain power at a younger age is so valuable.
I attained an applied physics degree following school. Hardest thing I ever did following sudden death of my father in my second year. Looking back 40 years now, I draw upon that courage to help me through life's twists and turns. Where do you draw your courage from?
@@lifeisshort3606 For UPEI I had been kicking myself for years for not going. A job I had ended after many years and a I got new one I didn't like so that made me apply to UPEI. But I found it hard I felt old and my study habits were 15 years out of date I left after the first semester. My second attempt was at age 47 after being laid off work was a two year college degree in computer studies; networking, programming, system administration etc.. My Dad was very sick at the time but I am glad I was able to graduate and find work before Dad died. I think that's life we want people to be proud of us.

Wow never knew much about Ryan but surprised to find I relate so much to his childhood. My dad was also in law enforcement but he had major anger issues, mostly unresolved childhood trauma and abuse that carried over into his parenting. my escape was always books and school though. I was the same as Ryan in how I was happiest the more invisible I seemed because like him I just wanted to get through the shit show, move out and then live my life, which is exactly what I did. Now I'm a paramedic in my 30s loving life. My dad and I don't have the greatest relationship but he's a lot better these days, less angry at least now that he's gone through some therapy and is retired. It's amazing how someone, who's life and personality seems so different from your own can have so much in common with you because of what they experienced in childhood and how they got through it. No one is ever truly alone. There is always someone, somewhere that knows exactly what you're going through, and how you feel, because they are going through it too.
All these motivational videos are great and all, but it’s a hell of a lot easier to be all inspirational when you’re a famous, multimillionaire, actor.
