How to Clip Up Safely - Use a Rubber Band!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- Anglers often worry about using the line clip on a large open water. The main concern is that a big fish will run hard, taking line off the reel spool until it hits the clip. At this point, the angler needs to open the bail arm and release the line clip in order to prevent a breakage in the main line.
With this rubber band method, you can rest easy in the knowledge that a hard running fish can break the rubber band, or the you can do it manually as the fish runs. In this way, fish losses are prevented and it is simply a case of replacing the broken band on the next catch. Watch the video to see how easy it is.

I'm glad you're back Den! well done . 👍👍👋
Good to see another video with excellent tips.
Great tip Den thanks for sharing
Excellent idea I will give it a try thanks.
Thanks Jonathan.
Great tip Den !
Thanks Ovidiu
Great video and good to see you back
Great Idea will give that a try for sure.
Well explained Den.
Really happy to see that you're back Den, I keep looking for your clips. I tried rubber band previously but not really had much success. But I will try this method and put the band in the clip.
Thanks
Pete
Thanks Pete. I tried putting a band over the spool in the past but it didn't do what I wanted either mate.
Hi Den
Have you ever tried overshotting or float jigging methods. I think that it's a pole fishing method.
Pete
@@peterdobrijevic3107 I think you will find that overshotted floats are banned on many venues these days peter. As for the Jigger, I have used it in the past for catch F1s. It's deadly for them because even though they are finnicky biters, they are easily hooked on this method.
I learned this trick 2 years ago. Its awesome.
Yes, it breaks a few times a day, but who cares.
I wish someone had told me about it earlier mate.😁😁👍👍
Nice video, weather looks nice...
Thanks mate. Its actually been really hot here lately.
@@FishingwithDen looks it pal, it ain't that warm in Manchester. I'm off to fish again on Friday looking to implement adding some household items to my swim these glugs and sticky adds are costing me a fortune. which will be a good video to add to my UA-cam. loving your vids btw keep it up.
@@Load-of-old-carp Yep. I gather its a bit chilly back there at the moment. Regarding additives, you might like to watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/IyJglwR0380/v-deo.html 😁😁👍👍
@@FishingwithDen yeah I've seen it pal, was researching for my channel when i stumbled over you.
Have you ever tried the MAP Carptek ACS reels with automatic line clip system?
On the rare occasion that you get a fish run you to the clip, but it does work.
I use the MAP Carptek 4000FD reels for virtually all of my general feeder fishing. I was only using the Preston reel for the purposes of this demonstration. I have done a number of videos covering this reel. Here are a couple of examples: ua-cam.com/video/jdWR9Mgtd0M/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/g_YJz5Ni2TU/v-deo.html
I hadn't seen the previous videos. Good reviews of these reels. I have used one for a while but I found the line does come out of the clip every now and then if you are using low diameter line. I use Matrix 6lb for bomb fishing so they are no good for that. Ok if you have 8lb line on. The slightly larger diameter line makes the line clip a lot more reliable. That's what I found anyway.@@FishingwithDen
@@baldrickscunningplan6154 You should try the Blu Tack trick as I mentioned in the video. It solves all the problems of the line coming out of the clip.
Yes I saw that. I will give the blue tack a try. It makes sense. @@FishingwithDen
Hi Den we have spoke via text on UA-cam and first a really enjoy all your videos and a lot of very good tips. Just one question firstly I've never tried clipping up the normal way when feeder fishing as it really scares me breaking line on just the casting but even more so when you get a take. I think this elastic band idea is great idea and I'll definitely try it but if the band will brake when there's a take couldn't the band brake when casting when the band is on the clip ?
Hi Mark. It does take a lot to break the band on a cast unless you are using a massive feeder and you don't feather the cast at the end. The idea when feeder fishing is to get the feeder to enter the water with a plop and not a crash. 😁😁👍👍
hallo Den , hope you had a wonderfull festive season .
ill be in aus within the coming month . i am bringing some small gifts that id like to send you once im there
I'm intrigued Danie. Let me know when you're here and welcome to OZ mate.
@@FishingwithDen thanks den
Cudnt really see the colour of the line but the idea is good..... When do we get a tutorial of the patented denbo leg lift strike😂
The marker pen is actually quite visible to the human eye, but I agree, the camera didn't pick it up very well. As for Den's patented leg lift strike, I'll see what I can do on April 1st for you.🤣🤣👍👍
Hi Den, a little confused here, do you release the line off the line clip on each cast?
Hi Mark. You just use it exactly the same as if you are using a normal line clip mate. The only difference is that when a big fish runs away from you in open water, either it, or you, can break the band and thus prevent being snapped off.
Hi Den....bit new to feeder fishing. Can you explain to me how you come about the 3 turns.
Thanks mate!
@@garyselby5812 Hi Gary. May I suggest you watch this video mate: ua-cam.com/video/g_YJz5Ni2TU/v-deo.html It explains in a bit more detail about how you achieve the 3 turns on your reel.
@@FishingwithDen thankyou!
only advice I would give here, is sink the line other than that, great advice.
Thanks Jimmy. What makes you think the line isn't sunk mate?
Just put elastic band on the spool. It works both ways....
If it's not clipped the force of the feeders hitting it out here tend to pull line from under it as it hits the band. We often are casting 60g feeders big distances so the forces are large enough to do that
