ive seen so many people with this exact issue change this part and say it didnt fix the problem. it sctually does they just were not informed to be more through with thos lines clogged up with the charcoal beads.....i hope lots of people see this before they replace the part lol.....VACUUM THOSE LINES BLOW AIR THROUGH THE GAS TANK FILLER 😂.....also for those that dont have an ait compressor if your using a shop vac to vacuum the line you can also use the shop vack to blow through the gas tank....make sure to clean the shop vac out 1st....then REvacuum the lines
I have the same problem with my 04 avalanche..I was so hopeful that the problem was fixed so I could fix mine...when I saw the gas squirt out and the handle click I was like damnit... LoL..

You forgot to blow the lines out that are holding the charcoal that leaked out of the old canister. Disconnect those hoses, and rattle all that stuff out and use a little low pressure air and clear em out. Worked on several other vehicles I had to do this to. Best of luck! I'm about to do this to my 04 avy.
@@graybeardgarage9638 ouch! I'm sorry to hear that. Well if Its filled all the way up that way, then I'd just replace that line and call it. Seems to be common on these things.
I actually had to take it in to a mechanic we know. I just didn’t have time to keep messing around with it. They actually had to pull the tank to get everything cleaned out. I knew that was going to be the case I just needed it done. I hate paying people to do things that I can do but my time became more valuable at a certain point than money.
@@graybeardgarage9638 I'm hoping I don't have to yank mine. But then again mine starts up no issues the only issue I have is that my gas pump fill up is slow.
Don't bother disconnecting the lines the proper way. Cut the nipples off flush on the canister, then remove the nipples from the lines, much quicker and more room. Also vacuum out the lines at canister and at purge valve, there will be charcoal debris in all lines. Never top off the gas tank It's the charcoal in the lines.
Thank you thank you so much I’ve been looking for a video on how to remove those pallets from the lines because nobody talks about them they say they are in the lines but they continue to replace the charcoal canister without addressing the lines being filled with these charcoal pellets. You are the first individual to say anything about them so far that I can fine thank you so very much sir God bless you and your family and friends stay safe now.✝️✝️✝️🇺🇸
wow im fixing to deal with all this on my teenage sons truck....that is after i replace his starter....ugh...sometimes it sucks being a single mom but gotta do what i gotta do. i dont have the funds to pay someone to do it and would not trust them to do it if i did.....its a shame when you put things in the shop for repairs and get it back then have to go behind them to do things correctly
@greybeardgarge hey brother, you're on the right track. I did the same thing for a buddy and I'm about to do it for my truck RIGHT NOW. ONLY thing I did differently is blow out the fule line to the vapor canister from the end they connected to the vapor canister. That's about it brother. Fixed the problem for him. Hopping it does the same for me
I firmly believe, but cannot prove, that the EVAP system on these is horribly designed such that if you fill with a gas can or add a fuel additive into the filler neck some goes into the EVAP system instead of the gas tank

Explain to me please! So I push air through the gas tank nozzle and then vacuum it back through once I have it all reconnected?
@@Viper34TTV blow it OUT with a air compressor. Vacuum cleaner has 25psi air compressor has 200 psi. Or just replace the hose!
I saw charcoal coming out of the lines, blow it out, I have the same problem, it helped.
I have a strong gas odor coming from my truck and i cant find any leaks, would replacing this as well as the canister fix my problem? 07 Avey LS
I could help. The fuel vapor is supposed to go through the charcoal on fill up.

Thanks for the good advice. I actually tried that but it didn’t work. It was filled all the way to the engine.

It used to take 3 tries to get it started as well which is also a common issue associated with the vent issue.
In autozone is $184
And in amazon its $48
Do you recomend the amazon canister
I am pretty sure that was from Amazon
I got gm part for 125 figured I would replace with exactly the same part by same manufacturer

Are you talking about the purge valve or evaporator vent valve
Your starting issue is probably the fuel pump pressure solenoid. If you can afford replace the hole fuel pump and solenoid.
Should have vacuumed the lines out that connected to canister for charcoal. First take gas lid off the
I did eventually. The tank needed to be pulled and the vent line was clogged all the up to the engine

I agree the EVAP system is trash on these
All you have to do is disconnect the big line. On the Box
They actually run a lot better when you completely disconnect It.
