1200HP Barra Powered Foxbody in the USA! “American” 2JZ (4.0L Turbo Inline-6)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- On this episode we feature Charles' super clean Ford Barra Swapped Foxbody Mustang. We visited Michigan's street scene and found this absolute GEM! The Barra engine is a naturally aspirated 4.0L inline-6 that was produced by Ford Australia during 2002-2016. A-Star Fabrication built the engine, custom fit it into the Foxbody Mustang and slapped a massive 80MM turbo on it. The sound of the barra is soo good, strap in and enjoy this awesome feature video!

American 2JZ? You mean Australian 2JZ :)
Oath mate
I know right.
🤣
If that is the case then it should be Australian ZJ2
Yep that's an Australian motor been around for a while nice to see it made it's way over here now, that thing is capable of reaching sick hp.
As an Australian I’m Proud of this Video
Thanks man

Adams is dope. Crazy how clean it looks in his gt350. I like how he can put the hood on with out too much problems
@Joe Blow wtf are you on
@Joe Blow of course a troll account named joe blow is the one saying that xD
@@rorarueta4899 I'm not a fan of the transmission he used in that swap. I hate how loud and clanky it is to drive. Shoulda kept it old fashioned stick or built auto.
This is definitely an Australian engine, from Ford Australia, has never been used in a single American car.
This seemed to make a lot of yee yee Ford Fanboys upset lol
Thank you, someone needed to say it...
Agreed. Nothing about the engine is American. Besides the oval badge.
My bad, thought you were meaning first time it was used in an American car. That bit is untrue (search Ben Paganoni's Barra Foxbody) but they never came out in any American car from the factory. 👍
Is this supposed to be an insult to American manufacturing ?
No one needed to say it. He put ‘American’ in parenthesis because he was being tongue in cheek. We ALL on here know the Barra is an Aussie only engine used in a variety of cars. It’s kind of a dream engine for Americans because of its rarity and huge power it’s capable of.
this reminds of Adam LZ's GT350 with sequential gear box.....need to feature that one of these days lol
I don't think so , he has his own channel that shows all that.
@@sladeb6036 Adam has already been featured on either this channel or 1320 before with his drift S15, it's good publicity.

@@carscarsandmorecars3266 yes true , that's what my second comment was aiming at. It definitely wouldn't hurt TRC an would probably help it blow up since it is a well done channel.
The Barra Motor down here in Australia was the motor of choice by ford Australia for it's hero car. GM(Holden) pushed its LS. The barra was being used in the majority of Taxi cabs here just to give you an idea of how common they are and seem to withstand high ass kms and a beating. Coming out in factory turbo and lpg variants they are everywhere and aftermarket wise we are spoilt with choice as most upgrades to get your falcon doing decent power figures on the shelf here. Its a shame Ford didnt keep the plant alive here in Australia and ship them worldwide into other model cars.
Yeah. But hopefully ford makes another car with barras in the future
Agreed, newer variants of the barra would have been awesome, especially if that meant stronger and all imperfection previously fixed.
@@snapped4433 it will never happen down here Ford Australia shut shop in 2016
They should've started offering them in American trucks & SUVs instead of the dumbass V6s
Not as cool as the Barra but in the process of copying Power Nation and turboing a 4.9L F150. Wish I had a Barra though, or maybe I will buy one.
Had 1200rwhp in my F6 Tornado- imagine driving on a live axle, spring arse end.
Just how us Aussies roll!

I read that right huh?! It says American 2jz? 😂😂 nah man, I’m a New Zealander and we all know the Barra is from the Aussies

Congratulations on this build. Took the long way home and deserve all the kudos you can get. Didn’t go the easy route and swapped an LS or a 2j. A coyote doesn’t even drop in a fox easily. This is awesome.
Coyote drops in any fox chassis easily. Not sure where you got your info but it's wrong

Yep our Barra engine is the final iteration of an engine that has evolved in many many versions from cross flow heads to single OHC versions, many types of fuel injection etc and is a direct descendant of the 144/170/188/200/221/250 cubic inch sixes from 1960 onwards to this unit, all built by Ford Australia in the state of Victoria at the Ford Geelong plant.
That’s my guy Andy. Dude is a serious fabricator and tuner. When I seen this car in person last year, I knew it would be a beast. Good job Andy and Briggs. Detroit stand up!

It was killing me hey lol
yep!
my brain hurts everytime they butcher the name
Maf coming in with gods words #mafforprimeminister
as a kiwi, i second this, also up that mana as silvertop
It makes me happy to see more adoption of this engine in the states. I’ve got dreams of putting one of these bad Bois in my ‘15 Ford Mustang GT like Adam’s GT350 but a smaller turbo and more turned for drifting instead straight line racing. Hopefully more support in the future for the states.
They aren't all n/a, some came with turbos such as the xr6 turbo and the g6e turbo
Silvertops are way cheaper tho
@@yota8325 and have twigs for rods….
@@jeepnutscotty that's actually nonsense, usually they kick rods from shithouse tuning. A motor that does 400kw on a stock bottom end is hardly weak, but old mate doing his #barratheworld build in his backyard turning up his 3582r to 18psi and a homemade dose pipe will break things. Mines tuned properly and never had an issue and likewise a heap of mates with them.
@@jeepnutscotty ye they aren't as strong but most are either doing a budget build where 400kw is enough or their doing a full build like this one where it doesn't really matter what you start with.
@@jeepnutscotty you got to understand how much of a torque monster these engines are. Similar sized rods would probably be classed as heavy duty comp rods for a 500hp chev or ford v8.

Such a cool build! I’ve been a long time turbo v6 owner, but one was a gmc syclone as my first car in 1997, and for the last 21 years a Buick GN. So in my 24 years driving, I’ve always owned turbo charged cars, trucks, and now a Jeep Wrangler. Pretty cool to see another turbo inline 6 out there besides the 2jz that’s all over

The Barra is one of the best and most unique sounding engines ever
It's under square and high litre makes it very torquie, however low reving to around 6,500-7,000rpm. Which also means they don't have that limiter bash sound that RBs and 2js have. However N/A I honestly can't tell if they a v8 or not when they go past. Love the sound mine (na) makes.
