Any chance you'll do a review of the Tech21 PSA 2.0? I have one, used to have a PSA 1.1 back in the day, tone sculpting.
PSA 1.1 was one of my favorite preamps back in my rack days, my main pre was an ADA MP1 + MQ-1 ( I used a complete ADA rig, with the B200 power amp and four 2x12 ADA vertical split stacks, and an Alesis Quadraverb). I eventually replaced my MP-1 and MQ-1 with an MP-2 which had an extra GEQ for each patch, which I thankfully still have. Sadly sold the rest of my ADA gear, including my backups. I was big ADA user back in the day. Also still have my Mesa TriAxis with PhatMod.
edit: the MP-1 + MQ-1 was powerful. I had patches for different EQ curves in the MQ-1, one patch in the MP-1 could have many sounds just by varying the MQ-1 patch. The MQ-2 was powerful, but more difficult to work, I had to have a patch with each eq setting making it an insane amount of programming in the box no such thing as software editors.
I’m having a horrible time with a high end hiss. I’m using a balanced XLR into a Scarlett Focusrite. I put high and low pass filters and keep the gain low. Still, I can not get rid of the hiss. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Sounds like a ground problem. I haven’t used the Focusrite in a while but if there’s a ground switch try flipping that and the same with the Tech 21 if there’s one 👌😎.
Paul Landers doesn't like amps. I think he has the same reason for that as I do. Most amps are muddy, fizzy, less defined. This unit is the quite opposite, it appears to me. Sharp, defined, cutting tones. End of a long quest for me?

Euge, how you connect PL1 to logic and computer at all? Via 6,3 or XLR? In logic you go direct or via I/O channel?
Can’t remember anymore how I connected on this one but probably with an XLR cable.

Can you plug this directly into a cabinet?
You can but since this is a preamp there wouldn’t be much sound coming out from a cab 😎. Put a power amp in between and voila 👌.
Was this recorded direct or in front of amp?

It’s quite a while since I did this video but if I remember correct pretty much yes 👌. Tech 21 makes great analog gear 💪.
