A sword data book would be amazing. The name and rank of the sword would be a given, but I also hope he names the maker and a list of all of the people who wielded them and for how long

The grading system is based on the real life Japanese historical sword grading system. the names are the same too.
12 saijo o wazamono
21 o wazamono
50 ryu wazamono
80 wazamono
Oda probably changed the wazamono to have no set number because there are more swordsman in one piece than real life, so he removed the set limit. The sword grading system is real, look it up if you want. Pretty interesting.

The thing I don't understand is the limit of the number of sword in a grade... We know sword can rank up so what happens... There must be always 50 Ryu wazamono? If the sword is destroyed like yubashiri... Now there are 49 Ryu wazamono? Or a wazamono rank up so are 50 again... I don't understand this
No, swords can not rank up.
Wazomono is a sharpness grade, "ranking up" would mean a blacksmith has to re-forge the sword and that would make an entirely new sword.

According to Hitetsu, if Zoro were to succeed in making Enma a permanent black blade, it may increase in "rank" (位列, iretsu?), suggesting that it may become a Supreme Grade sword.[5]
@@MartinGasparini86 Nope. It would make a koketsu then, but not a better rank in the meito-system. The meito-system is a sharpness-ranking system. With making it a koketsu it doesn't get any sharper at all, not the slightest, it's just harder then. No rank-up in the meito-system and that is the topic here. It may get better, yes, but not in terms of sharpness.
Isn’t it weird that Oden’s swords didn’t reach Saijo, even after being part of both Whitebeard’s and Roger’s crews it still did up its rank.
That's just how special saijo owazomono's are Only 12 characters have them wich include The strongest swordsman and the stongest man on earth and gandi wich is probably imu's second in command
Oden was the strongest wano samurai, he sliced Kaido who is so tough no one has hurt him in decades, if he wasn't fooled by the old hag he could have sliced kaido in half with the next move, he made up a really strong two sword style himself, traveled with a yonkou and the king of the pirates, reached Laugh Tale and came back.
I think if someone deserves to have a saijo-grade sword or a sword used by him turned into a saijo due to it's exploits that one is Kozuki MF Oden.
@@nickx2758 The problem with that is the Saijo classification is not based on who wields the sword, or their exploits, but on the quality of the blade. Even if Oden did all the awesome shit he did, that does not automatically make his swords worthy of being classified as a Saijo.
@@emmanuelllavore1775 is that stated anywhere? That sounds like head cannon to me, because I don't think it was explicitly stated what determines the grade of the sword.
@@agent.4206 Sword grading is literally just determining the quality of a blade, not based on the owners feat, but based on the sword itself. That is why it's strange that a sword databook exists in One Piece. If sword grading took into factor the user's feat, it would result to more than 12 Saijos.

Fun Fact: The meito grades are based off an actual list of wazamono blades, see for yourself you can find it on Wikipedia by searching wazamono, and it states that there are 80 wazamono grade blades.

Tekking, there is a sword encyclopedia in the world of OP. Tashigi was looking at it when she and Zoro was in Ipponmatsu shop. Apparently, it gave both information and how much each sword is worth. Either that was the sword encyclopedia or Tashigi own personal swords notebook. She probably did research on every sword that was created.

Crazy theory: What if none of the scabbards swords are a Meito grade, but after this battle they achieve the status? Then we learn the process by which the status is made official, so that later when it comes time for Zoro's swords to move up in grade we now know how it's done.
Don’t forget that some of the swords could be lost or broken since they’ve been around for so long.

Pretzel , Cavendish's rapier , Who's who's sword , Denjiro's sword , Ashura's sword , Shiriuy's sword, Vista's 2 swords ....I m pretty sure they all are meitos.
The wazamono ranking is the model for the meitou ranking in One Piece. It has 4 tiers: the highest with 12 swords and down the ranking to 21, 50 and 80 swords each. So normal meitou swords are probably 80 as well.

See, Hotori has what's called a Kamijibun sword, bestowed onto him by his master Eneru. It moves so fast its basically invisible. So don't even try to look for it. Mihawk wishes he had a sword like Hotori.

Hey Tekking, have you ever considered making a video on marine epithets? Like we know a few like Garp “the fist”, Sengoku “the Buddha” and Smoker “the white hunter”, but what about other marines like Koby, Helmeppo, Momonga or even Dalmatian? What are some fun potential epithets for them? Maybe Kobe’s would have something to do with the rocky port incident. They could also be dumb as hell like Dalmatian “the Dalmatian”.
Enma is prolly in the process of turning into a black blade and maybe that is why it keeps demanding sudden bursts of armament haki from its user. And i think by the end zoro will have 3 supreme grade swords as i think when wado ichimonji finally becomes a black blade it will become a supreme grade sword.

I think the reason Oda doesn't want to reveal swords and ranks because he gave himself such a limited number of 12, 21, and 50. And if he had been revealing swords and their ranks, he might run out of space or trying to save space on a rank people would be upset that someone has a lower ranked sword than they think that character should have.

I never noticed until Tekking put the panel up, but doesn’t Who’s who’s sword have a striking resemblance to Oden’s swords? Similar rounded three pedal guard, similar ‘flower’ shaped decorations on the scabbard, etc. It’s just an interesting coincidence if nothing else.

I hope Oda eventually explains how people in the One Piece world even know about the swords. Who wrote that sword encyclopedia like the one Tashigi was using? If Wano is so isolated and information regarding anything hardly comes out then how do people learn about the names of the swords?
It would be awesome to learn that there is/was a sword enthusiast or historian who travels the world gathering information about swords as a life dream 🙂.

Denjiro , inuarashi and ashuradoji most likely used the swords from okiku , kawamatsu and nekomamushi .That's the reason why just 4 of them could attack

I am really curious about Kinemon’s swords after all you look at them they are identical twin swords....that only other swords that are somewhat twin swords too are Enma and Ame no Habakiri....so I wonder that is could their be a special reason and how many more twin swords will we see?
