Dodge Ram Pickup Driver Doing Stereotypical Ram Pickup Driver Things.

- So the highway was kind of busy. I had a Ram come flying up behind me and then flashed it's lights a few times. Like I had somewhere to go. The traffic in the right lane emptied a little bit but when the Ram went to zip around, the RAV4 in front of me changed lanes, blocking him. Noticing that there was more space in front of the RAV4 than I realized, I sped up. The Ram then passed the RAV4 on an on ramp only to get stuck behind a Honda. The next on ramp the Ram passed the Honda. The Ram didn't get very far ahead. When I caught up to the Ram he slammed on the brakes to cut through the right lane traffic to make an exit dive. I thought about honking at the Ram then, but decided he seemed already amped up and that could cause some unneeded problems if it set him off.

Wow did the left lane mafia ever come out for this one. Just an fyi, I spent the last hour looking to see if there is any law where I am that I might have broke concerning the left lane. This is the only one that appears to be close, and IMO I wasn't breaking it. If you could find one, then by all means reply.

Slow vehicles to travel on right side
147 (1) Any vehicle travelling upon a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at that time and place shall, where practicable, be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right hand curb or edge of the roadway. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 147 (1).
Exception
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a driver of a,
(a) vehicle while overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction;
(b) vehicle while preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway;
(c) road service vehicle; or
(d) bicycle in a lane designated under subsection 153 (2) for travel in the opposite direction of traffic. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 147 (2); 2015, c. 14, s. 41.
I'm just going to edit this to add this link in. ua-cam.com/video/WCCheNbSvoA/v-deo.html
If you need an actual law to override common sense, there is no hope for you.
Speaking of blocking... Man, do you ever use the right lane?
Yes I do. But in Ontario the left lane law isn't real strict for one thing. And on that highway, the right lane has a lot of short merge lanes and a lot of people going well under the speed limit. At the time of the day this video was taken, sometimes if you change into that lane, you'll never get out of it and I'd like to get to work in a decent time. Besides, usually if there is no one in front of me I try to go 110 in a 90.
I live and drive in the busy Detroit metropolitan area. Here, the unofficial rule in heavy highway traffic is that if you're in the left lane, you keep up with the vehicle in front of you. If you find yourself with a gap ahead of you that's more than a reasonable following distance, your choices are catch up to traffic or move to the right. The thinking (in my mind, anyway) is that this keeps traffic flowing quickly and smoothly, without need of constantly changing lanes (which can be its own hazard in heavy traffic) as you encounter slower traffic in the right lane. This driver appeared to be following this unofficial rule, and I personally wouldn't fault him for staying in the left lane.
@@ignignokt4u2 I see your point. However, there is one big problem with this approach. You will never go faster than the car in the front of the line, so if the 1st driver is keeping 10 below the speed limit - that is what you all will go.
It does not matter how fast you are going. If someone is catching up with you, move over. Let them pass. Then, you can go back to your game of keeping up with the car in front of you. It is simple and allows faster drivers move faster.
Granted, my thinking is based on European style. American is a bit different. You guys barely ever use blinkers and move over to let faster cars go. Somehow ROW can leave the left lane for passing. Not the case in the USA, though.
@@PhilKsDashcam I get it. Sure. But then again - it does not matter how fast you are going. If you did not see anyone in the rear-view mirror and now there is - it means they are going faster. Move over and let them pass. And then do what you wish.
Had you done it, and had all the cars in front of you had done it - we would never have this conversation here.
OP doesn’t know how to share the road
just move over?!?!
Well, this explains a few things. You're camping in the left lane. You admitted to breaking the speed limit. And couldn't maintain a speed, plus you're in trudeau-land.
You're not the opp, stop blocking the flow of traffic. You even sped up and blocked that pickup twice in the video
The left lane is for passing, not driving in. How do you expect him to get past if you're sleeping in that lane, you basically left him no choice. You are the reason accidents happen, it forces people to take chances instead of just being able to pass and move on.
"Forces people"? "No choice"? That's absurd thinking. Nobody was forcing that guy to drive recklessly. He had the choice to simmer down and not pass on the shoulder. There are no excuses for reckless driving.
So who is at fault the guy trying to get down the road or the D-bags camped out in the passing lane?
Might want to read that drivers ed handbook
Move over Karen
You know how I know this comment section is full of left-lane drivers? They're always the most pissed off when they encounter someone else doing the same thing.
I've never got the ridiculous amount of anger I've seen not just in this video but from across other people's videos that just because you happen to be in the left lane it's your fault no matter what the person did. People don't know that the driving culture might be different from place to place and the laws could be different from place to place. Plus the camera's lens makes everything look worse which a lot of people don't seem to get either. I've moved over countless times (even last night) when the situation is safe to do so. This wasn't one. Sorry, guess I just unloaded on you .
Im a Dodge guy I drag race an older d150 at a sanctioned track Those idiots with there so called HEMI MAKE ME LAUGH Bring it to the drag strip AND i will take there money
🤣
We sure hate to stereotype, but Ram drivers make that easy lol
Yep, 🤣
Tow mirrors sticking out 3 feet 24/7 😂
@@jaywalk6628 lol
I am a Ram owner I have a dash cam too, trust me there are plenty of GM and Ford truck drivers that I have footage of driving like idiots also. Most truck owners drive reasonably but of course bad driving is not discriminatory it's an individual trait.
Yeah, I have plenty of footage of other brands doing things too. I'm just playing on a running joke with some other people that put out videos that it seems like the majority of the pickups we catch are Rams.
Left lane is for 200kmh+ GTFO
LMAO apparently.
@@PhilKsDashcam I drive way worse than that guy but that's because I have a little turbo car. You'd get maybe 15 seconds of footage of me blasting past you threading the needle and then you wouldn't see me anymore. For what it's worth, my Fiat is also a Mopar product made in the same Mexican factory the Dodge Rams are.
So what do you drive? Ford?
Honda.
I've never owned a pickup, but my next vehicle may very well be a Ramcharger PHEV pickup truck. Will I be required to start driving like an A-hole if I get one?
🤣 I don't think you are required to. I'm just playing off the running joke that usually when you see a pickup doing something in people's videos, it's a Dodge Ram doing it.
Move over.
Why were you on the left lane?
Because traffic was busy.
@@PhilKsDashcam And do you know why it was busy?
@@lacastagneratte Because there were a lot of cars.
@@PhilKsDashcam yes lots of cars like you going slow on the left and making it jam
@@lacastagneratte Nope, just lots of cars period.
So basically you are saying only ram pickup drivers do things like this? BTW stop camping in the passing lane and purposely speeding up to block people. 😂😂😂😂
No I'm not. It's just a running joke with people who's videos I watch and including my own experience that most of the time Ram drivers are the pickups that appear in their/my videos.
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULYYY
Yes, bro. Same to you. Happy Fourth of July! Let freedom ring in this mf right her, bro.
What's up with this whiny Liberal complaining about other people blocking and driving bad? Learn to use the right lane if you're going to go slower and allow huge gaps between you and the car in front of you in the left lane. Both the Ram and this guy are the type of stereotypical drivers you don't want near you on the road.
What's up with Republicans acting like a bunch of pussies the moment someone criticizes a truck? The guy was passing the cars in the right lane. In the real world, we call that "passing cars in the passing lane". No need to get your panties twisted lmao.
WTF does politics have to do with a dashcam video.
@@PhilKsDashcam I stand by my statement. If you don't like people calling you out for your bad driving... then perhaps you shouldn't post videos of you driving like an asshat.
Seems like a lot of diesel huffing truck drivers in this comment section lol. As far as I saw it, you were passing the slower moving traffic in the passing lane. They're just upset you didn't yield to the "almighty truck".
I live in Florida. Unfortunately, I have an experience like this everyday. I could be driving 85MPH, while passing traffic, but I'll have a truck 2 car lengths from my bumper. Yet, somehow we're in the wrong, according to the typical truck driver. I say this as someone that owned a truck and realized I had no need for such a large vehicle to commute to work.
Yeah this is 100% you. Stay out of the passing lane.
🙄
You said, *_"Stay out of the passing lane."_* Oh, but it's okay if the Ram uses the passing lane? Nobody else is allowed to use it, got it.
@@BadDriversOfNapa “gOt iT ☝️🤓” the ram was trying to use it to pass.
@@PhilKsDashcam mad because you got called out by everyone lol
@@offcourse3848 Cammer was passing too. The fastest car on the road doesn't get to dominate.
