  • This is an unbelievably beautiful place located only 40 minutes from Azusa California, it has pristine clear water and many rock pools to swim in!!
The only problem is that there is a lot of trash all over the place, so if you decide to visit please make sure to pack it in and pack it out!! Don’t leave any trash behind, thank you.

Thank you so much for watching, most of my videos are time sensitive , that means I try to go places when there is a better chance of having the best views and experience. For example if you watch video of a seasonal waterfall and you decide to visit but when you get there it’s completely dry that’s a bummer. Same thing if I show wildflowers blooming, you visit and they are long gone! Or a place with snow, you go and it’s all melted!
Right after I go hiking I post my videos as soon as possible.

This spot will always have a special place in my heart. For a short while I was pretty much homeless sleeping in friends cars and would wake up & come down to the river in the morning. It was a rough time for me then- 18, just left an abusive household & trying to kick my drug habits. I met my best friend up & found love. That was almost 18 years ago now:)

Exactly. How hard is it to bring extra trash bags to clean up and take away your mess??? It's a blessing to have these beautiful nature spots around us. All we need to do is enjoy the beautiful scenery and clean up when we're done. Littering is disgusting, leaves a blight on society, as well as destroys our precious resources.

In reality, I see kids who volunteer to pick up trash and see adults who teach kids about nature and native history all of the time. Nobody is to blame. Azusa canyon has become more popular over the years and has attracted more homeless people and delinquent groups of people. Back in the 60s & 70s, nobody left trash up here. But we started to get people that had recently migrated to the US & they would just come, picnic on top of you, & leave all their trash when they were done. We tried to ask them to pick up & we would pick it up. As native Californians of all ethnicities, a lot of us just got sick of this & just stopped going up there. We just went to other canyons along the San Gabriels: Chantry, Eaton, Sweitzer etc.

I have lived just down the 605 for more than 45 years. I used to go here and further up river near crystal lake. The condition as you said was horrible with trash and yes diapers. I think part of the problem was that there was no people control by forestry. Another problem was the fixed toilets were hideous because of non maintenance and over use. I think people could change with a little prodding. Parking revenues could be used to improve the trash pickup and toilet maintenance. Some youth groups could storm the area once in a while with an army of trash picker uppers. I live next to legg lakes (Whittier narrows recreation area) and frequently walk the lake path for exercise while picking up trash. Many people thank me for doing so, I think it makes a difference. Los Angeles county runs the area, but I think they could return some of the parking revenues to improve the maintenance of the lake and park.

We use to go up Azusa Canyon back in the early to mid 1980's when it was free. Then in the 1990's trash everywhere. That is why the rangers came up with a daily $5.00 pass. There was Follows Camp on the East Fork. Going up HWY 39 past the East Fork was public parking, and bathrooms. You could bring your vehicle down into the San Gabriel River, or continue up HWY 39 going all the way up where you hit Crystal Lake, where rumored Jason Voorhees was : actually it was filmed in Connecticut.. AT the entrance of HWY 39 was the El Encanto, where Hostage was filmed, with Bruce Willis....

Turning nature into an LA GHETTO with their graffiti, trash, beer bottles, dirty diapers, and using a beautiful river for a public toilet for folks downstream to enjoy😢 I'm from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and we would Never even think of doing that Crap.

The dog needed a drink. Those spots should be left alone for the wildlife. Careless people f it up for all. I'm sick of picking up trash of others wherever I go. It's always back the next day. Yest. it was a run over jug of motor oil in a parking lot. Unbelievable. I'd like every person that can't pick up their crap, to be stripped and banned from USA, dropped in Syria or Afghanistan.
