I also find that camping in wintertime, a pad is better than an air matress as the matress is like sleeping on a bed of air which gets very cold in a blizzard
We don't go camping often, but when we do we rent a cabin. But because we bring a lot of stuff like tables and set up our own kitchen area. This inspired me to build one. I just can't for things to "normalize" again and try the chuck box camp kitchen that I built. I hope to impress our friends and acquaintances in the camp site.
People in the comment section may be acting up all smart and criticizing everything shown in the video. But for someone like me who have never even set foot away from civilization this really gives me a boost of confidence, it covers all my reservations about going outdoors. As far as I am considered it fulfills it's role of teaching the basics to an absolute beginner like me.
Hi. Thanks!! Don’t worry about those folks criticizing. We made this video so folks would not be intimidated by going camping. These people criticizing act like you have to be miserable and spend $1000 to go camping. It’s not true. I’ve been really miserable while sitting in a tent at 100 deg. It’s much more fun to enjoy camping. Have fun!
Imran those who criticise are unhappy people anyway... 😑 You get out there and enjoy being in nature, being still, and discovering parts of yourself that you never knew existed! 😁 I grew up in a camping family here in New Zealand, so I am very blessed. Even so, I still enjoy videos like this because we can always learn something useful from others. 😊❤️
You’re totally right ! Why would they search camping for beginners if they aren’t ! Some ppl simply like to make themselves feel better than the others
🤣. Thanks for the nice comments. Folks can camp at any age if they keep it relaxing and fun! I used to go camping no matter what the weather was going to do. Now I like to search for the nice weekend. Thanks!
This may not be "roughing it", but I like the way this fellow understands the value of recommending that people start a thing that _can_ be challenging on easy mode. Gives them a better chance of enjoying themselves, and finding the adventure relaxing, the first time, so they're more likely to return to it, & gradually build up their skills.
Hi. Your comment are the reason we made this video. I was a Scoutmaster for 10 years. When I first became a Scoutmaster, I saw young scouts join the troop and if they had a bad first camp out, never came back. I began to make certain that the first camping trip for the young scouts was on a nice weekend with clear instruction in everything they needed. I even kept a few extra items in the scout trailer in case they forgot a pillow or sleeping bag. We had more scouts stay in and earn Eagle. One thing is for certain, if you camp enough, you’ll get rained on, get cold, and just be miserable. The first camp out is not the time for this. My best friend from high school still refuses to camp after a miserable weekend a group of us had probably 30 years ago. 🤣
@@useful.knowledge you've done that very effectively, so feel good. :-) I'm not sure what Eagle means; is it like being an elder scout? Where I am, those are called Venturers. It's cool to hear that success story, either way. I personally _love_ camping, & will do it for a week at a time (more, if my buddy of the trip is able), but I also find that - as with most things - enjoyment is easiest when I am not physically uncomfortable. So that means I always make sure I have a menu plan (with contingencies for if energy is low, like canned soup, rice pouches, jaffles etc.), all the gear I know _I_ need, a sleeping situation which works for my specific requirements (chronic injuries from a car accident mean that finding that balance took me a little more time than for the average camper, but I didn't let those initial stumbles put me off), & am warm enough. I honestly believe that _everyone_ has the potential to enjoy camping, but that you just have to sort of baby them the first few times until they're sufficiently invested that you can start letting the experience become more challenging, knowing that it won't ruin the whole concept for them. It's cool that as a veteran of a very long camping career you agree. ^_^ I'm sorry about your friend, & what he's been robbed of. That really sucks. :-(
One thing to be sure to bring: BUGSPRAY! Unless you're going when nothing's out, a lack of bug spray will make your life a misery. I have personally found spray with deet in it works great.
I've also used essential oil such as Tea Tree. There's one blend that even says "Bug Off." BTW, peppermint oil keeps spiders at bay and ants don't like cinnamon.
Was reminded today going out on a trail with my son that sometimes people arent looking to rough it, they are just looking for an opportunity to get out and enjoy nature. A cheap get away from the big city.
I've been a city guy my whole life and really seek to challenge myself and step out of my environment. I'm so tired of being crowded with people and missing out on nature. Thankz for this video, it helps a lot.
I've never ever been camping before. I went to an 'outdoor' type shop today and was beyond overwhelmed. I left with nothing as just didn't know where to start. Being new and skint, I want to start with the very basics incase it's not something we like or get the opportunity to do often. I don't want to spend a fortune or buy anything unnecessary. This video has been invaluable. Thank you ❤
This month will be my second time camping. This video is a great refresher for me and a good start for beginners. Keep in mind that no camping trip will be perfect, but the flaws give the trip uniqueness. Happy camping!
ManyCallMeTyler. Thanks for the kind words. I spent about 10 years as a Scoutmaster. Most of the new scouts would quit if they had a miserable first camp out. That’s why we did this video. Very true about how different experiences make each trip unique. Best of luck and enjoy the outdoors.
Thank you so much for this video! My father passed away when I was a preteen and my fondest memories were going camping with him; naturally it's been about a decade or more since the last time I went. I'm about to go on my first weekend camp in a few days and this was extremely helpful! Excellent video.
Thanks so much for sharing your story. Our goal is for everyone to enjoy camping. Folks like you are the reason we did this video. We want everyone to have fun camping whether it’s the first time or the first time in a few years. All the best!
As a 208 lb woman, i suggest the mattress pad over the air mattress. With my experience, air mattresses are comfortable at first but eventually literally fall flat after an hour or so. Even back when i was around 130 lbs, an air mattress would flatten out beneath me.
Tip: Buy a quality blow up pool floaty to use as a mattress. A cement Patch Kit might be something to invest in also. Might want to test it before you go camping to make sure it doesn't go flat in less than 15 hours. Or you might have to blow it up again in the middle of the night if air is making it through the seams. Plus most of them come with a pillow you can blow up. Designed to keep your head elevated in the water. It'll work just as good on land. It would be good option if you have a lot of kids. They'll all can have a personal mattress without breaking the bank.
I appreciate that you assume I know nothing and just run through all the basics. Now I have a coherent shopping list for my first camping trip, and I understand which aspects I'm going to need to learn more about before I go. Thanks!
heres a tip for first time campers. A out door store called REI. you can join one time fee. they will rent you everything to camp pretty much. probably not firewood.
I'm about to start living a #vanlife nomadic lifestyle and looking to learn camping, survivalism, bushcraft, and homesteading skills. I can already tell that this guy is gonna be a tremendous help!
As someone who will go camping for the first time since I was kid (I'm 42 now) this is very helpful. My nephew requested that we all go camping on his birthday.
I have been in the Army for 21 years now and I thoroughly enjoyed your class. Well done, I have camped many times in my life but this was a nice back to basics, and well done for the new campers out there 👏 👍
As someone who teaches camping, hiking, backpacking and wilderness survival to Scouts and am an Eagle Scout and OA Brotherhood I have to give you a big thumbs up! I have been tent camping since age 5 and I am 67 and still tent camp. I can tell you were or are still a Scout and I love how you kept it to the basics and handle it a step at a time. Big Well Done ! Much more to learn as the potential camper decides if they want to enjoy this further - Really well done. Remember the buddy system.
This was the simplest, most concise, most helpful, and easiest to digest video I've seen as I prep to go camping for my fourth time in three years. Thank you!!
Thanks man! I grew up camping but I'm feeling nervous about taking my family. I've never been the one planning and I've never taken my kids! You reminded me how simple and straightforward it can be.
Great video. My son just turned 15. My first experience camping out was when my son was 10. I thought I had it all figured out. It’s like if I saw your video and took your advise. Only thing is that one has to live it to know it. The night was freezing cold. I was trying to sleep but the cold kept me up all night. That night I could just imagen how cold my 5 year old girl, my wife, and my son were. First thing in the morning my wife said to me, never again. I learned from my mistakes and perchases better tent, sleeping bags, and other things here and there. Up to this day I still get things that I know will add to our comfort of camping out. But one thing for sure is that we will never forget our first camping trip🤣
Thanks! That was why we did the video. Some folks think it should be a rough and tough experience but it does not have to be. Nothing wrong with having fun!
Agree. 30 years of camping and I've never had an air mattress in one of my tents! Luxury for sure. They break/leak so easily I wouldn't want to deal with one camping. The sock tip was a really good one.
Camping has evolved over the years. Just picking. I did some as a kid and then a lot more as an airborne infantry guy. For those that have never been outdoors/camping, this is a good intro. One of the things that will make life easier when it is decided that a camping trip is in store, is a load-out checklist. The checklist "helps" to prevent leaving something at home. Not a 100% guarantee, but pretty damn close. Right after separating from service the wife says we could go camping. I ask her what shift was she taking, after all security is the #1 priority. I got the "wife look" and we never went camping together.
Ernest Paul. First, thank you for your service. To everyone reading the comment, take heed. This is great advice from Ernest Paul. I always make a list for camping and you should also. About the wife look, I completely understand and that was hilarious!
Sounds like a plan. Alabama's GOV says we can travel for outdoor activity and these activities are considered essential. Our state park campgrounds are open. Have fun camping when you can go!
before the pandemic i used to camp three months a year on average, in all weathers and in every month. i have advanced skills and advanced gear. tonight youtube thought i would like your camping 101 video, and it was not wrong. this is good sensible advice that can get people outside without having to be fancy. and that tip about breakfast at a restaurant? i recommend it on the way out for advanced campers, too. you pull a sled out of a forest at 15 degrees in the morning and there is NOTHING better than a diner plate and a hot cup of coffee.
Thanks for sharing and the nice comments. Oh yes, we definitely enjoy that last morning breakfast at a restaurant. I don’t know why but the smell of breakfast in a diner is awesome to me.
I love kamping and I'm no expert but this was a great way to brush up on the basics. Awesome video, number 1 tip was practicing pitching your tent at home!
Thanks! Very true! While in college, I had a group of camping buddies. One of my best friends in college went camping with us. He was miserable because he was just not prepared. We wanted to do this video so folks could be ready and have fun.
amazingly simple, concise, and helpful video. I'm a city girl who's never gone camping. with this covid-19 pandemic, i've had to get creative when it comes to bday celebrations and social distancing. This video just made camping less daunting. THANKS :)
debykins1. Thanks! That was the whole idea of the video. Camping really shouldn’t be that hard. The key is to enjoy it and have fun. I was a scoutmaster for 10 years. If a new scout went camping and had a miserable time, most of the time they would never go back. Have fun camping!
Hey that is great for someone to explain first stepping stones to camping. Remember to not litter, leave your site better than before! Pack it in.. pack it out. Keep your foods and pantry in vehicles, animals will visit and rummage thru your stuff if left open on table or in tent.. you dont want that. Also pack for foul Weather even though it's nice, it can get worse when in the woods. Best of all, buy yourself a boy scout handbook to guide you further into other outdoor activities. No such thing as bad Weather, its bad gear.
I love this. I have been camping for years but sometimes it’s really nice to just go over the fundamentals. Honestly this is a great easy low pressure video for beginners. I feel like some of the “quick tip” videos put way to much pressure and make things seem way to complicated. Camping is fun. Have fun with it.
Take a pan and fry up a mess of fried onions to go with your hot dogs. Here in South Africa we have an AMAZING kind of sausage called 'boerewors'. That means 'farmers' sausage'. It's a long piece of sausage with no separate links. You cook it by coiling it up on a turnable barbecue grill or what we call a braai grid because braai (rhymes with 'try' is what you guys call a barbecue. And there are a million different kinds of boerwors. Thick ones, thin ones - every butcher and supermarket has their own recipe. And a 'boerie' roll is divine beyond description. It is your ultimate camp food. Plenty of tomato sauce, good mustard abd loads of fried onions!
I’m about to take my boys out for our first camping trip in about a month. I love this video because it was very simple and informative for someone who has never gone camping! God bless!
I'm a single mum with an 8 year old boy who wants to try something different. Never been camping before and he has been asking about it so thabk you so so much for posting this video which for others may seem mundane, but for people like me it's a gold as it will allow me to bond with my son and do more "masculine" activities
Even as someone who's been camping their whole life, this video is super helpful! It's been a while since I've been out and this reminded me of several things I probably would've forgotten otherwise. I'm planning a solo hammock trip in the TN backcountry here at the beginning of December and I would've been hurting out there in the 35-degree sleeping bag I have now. Thanks a bunch!
Great video for first timers and those wanting to bring children along. Keeping it simple. Hope I got it all! Hate to get to the campsite and find I forgot my kitty litter! 😹
That looks like you’ve got the list completely intact! Someone mentioned that I forgot insect repellent. You definitely need that for this time of the year. Have fun!
This is one of the best camping videos I've found. It really gets down to actual absolute basics and I love that. I haven't been camping in a few years, and I'm taking a trip in a month up to one of our old family spots. This video is a nice refresher.
I havent been camping since i was a kid, and I'm taking my family tomorrow for their first time so i gotta beush up on everything. This was a great starting point for me. Thank you sir 🫡
A good packing up tip: Put your tent and ground cloth in your empty cooler (or a large trash bag) to transport home. It will be damp in the morning from the dew, and will get musty if you pack it up when wet. Dry it out and refold/pack it for the next trip when you get home.
Thanks!! Everyone, this is good info from Simir. You can make your new tent smell miserable if you don't dry it out before you pack it up. Also same goes for your sleeping bag.
Hi. This is exactly why we made this video. The goal was as to give tips so that people could have fun and not be overwhelmed by worrying about it too much. Hope you have a great camping trip.
That’s it. I think I forgot the bug spray in the video. It’s honestly not complicated. I always want to make sure that I’m comfortable while sleeping. The rest is icing on the cake.
Thank you for this video. I want to take my husband to nature but like my modern comforts. He wants to hike and I want to just sit and paint nature. So I am planning a trip to make the experience great for both of us. It seems camping isn't too much different than living without utilities after a hurricane, of which I know well! Thanks!!!
Hi. Thanks for the comments. I hope you have a great camping trip. Very true about camping being not much different than living without utilities during a hurricane aftermath. When the April 27, 2011 tornadoes tore up Alabama, we lived without utilities for a while. it felt oddly like camping. With that said, I really feel for those that took the many hurricane hits that Louisiana has taken this year.
@@useful.knowledge I have family in ever coastal city from Houston,Tx to Pensacola,FL. We know our hurricanes! Forget the milk and bread, get beer and charcoal and fill all the receptacles with water. The first 3 days of cleanup are full of mud and and BBQ. After that, well, we start blessing each others' hearts through gritted teeth.🤣
Love it....extra socks...brilliant. Think too of the path of the sun and winds.....just sayin. You can make your own ring of rock if necessary.......................:)
I did the first time Camping in my entire life with a friend whom has zero knowledge just like me...Guess where? Yellowstone National park as we had a cross country road trip from Boston last summer LOL! However, I did tons of research specially here on youtube and all plus I have the Hiking experience, so I knew some essentials. I brought everything including Ice & cooler (Yes begal and cream cheese too xD) EXCEPT Instant Coal fire lol. Thanks for putting *Useful knowledge* out there.
It’s gonna be me and my sons first time camping soon. We’re excited. We got the basics and doing a simple one night trial just to see how he likes it. Great tips.
Thank you sir . Hope you’re still enjoying and having a good time camping . Your video really helped me , tomorrow am leaving my daughter and wife in the city to have a two night out with my dog and start making UA-cam videos about camping in Taiwan where I live , keep it simple is my biggest take away from your video
Hi. Thanks for your kind comments. Have fun camping and I wish you all the best making videos. Yes, keep it simple so that anyone can feel comfortable camping.
thank you, I am beginning camping at my local campground and I want the simplest guide. I wanted nothing fancy, and everything he used could be used at home! No money wasted.
Every time I’m using a wood fire I have leather gloves. If they’re thick enough you can quickly pick up coals and hot sticks. Make sure they have no holes and are thick enough.
Maybe add a part about cooking clean up. It can be very simple, but very important to do properly, especially in bear country. Where to store your food is important, too. Also, where and how to properly do and dispose of “bathroom business” if facilities are not available. Some states have laws regarding both of these things. Great video.
Hi there I just want to say thank you, your content is of such high quality, this video was fantastic very clear simple and just great. Thank you so much, you deserve many more subscribers and views than what you have currently.
They make charcoal that you can burn the bag too so you have less trash. My boy fishermans life uses that on the beach to cook fish and avocado and butter all day long.
This is Basic Knowledge about Camping. BUT, it sure is HELPFUL for those of who would be attempting to CAMP for the FIRST TIME in their life! THANK YOU, SIR! 🇺🇸
You literally made my first experience super awesome thank you so much for all the information it might be common sense for a lot of people but for a first timer it could get overwhelming so again thank you so much for the video
I’m from the small town of Rogersville, AL. So glad I found this channel! I now have a daughter of my own and she wants to start camping. I myself have never been camping so taking plenty of notes.
Well hello neighbor. We live outside of Hartselle. You can definitely go camping and have fun! Pick a nice weekend that’s not too hot or cold. Joe Wheeler State Park has a nice primitive campground that’s within walking distance to the bath house. I’ve been there many times.
Can someone please point me in the direction where I can buy a real good air compressor/inflator for air mattresses or floater tubes. The one I have cost me 50 bucks but it takes a good 10 minutes to inflate a floater tube. I think I might be doing something wrong.
I'm going camping by myself for the first time next weekend. Any reminders or tips on being safe on my solo trip? Thank you for making a great video check list. 😊
Hi. Since it’s summertime, take bug spray. Also, take a separate ice cooler for any raw meats. Be comfortable with good bedding and nice pillow. If you vent your tent door, make sure the screen part is zipped so no unwanted bugs and other critters venture into your tent. Do this while you are in it or outside..:.all times! Keep a flashlight next to your head incase you have to get up during the night. Just relax and have a good time.
I love the video I usually don’t put a tarp down first under the tent because it traps water under the tent I usually put a 10x20 tarp over the tent anchored to trees so no moisture is on the ground around the tent
You can absolutely do it. Just start into camping easy like we show in the video and you’ll have fun. I suggest going to a state park campground or equivalent for your first trip.
Lisa Quigley. Hi. The main point of the video is for folks that have never started a fire. The instant light will help them have a campfire to enjoy. 99% of the time I personally use kindling. If it’s been raining, I will use a bag of the instant light.
Lisa Quigley ......... You can always purchase the small individual fire logs or fire starter sticks at Walmart or Dollar store , super great an easy to start a fireplace or campfire.
Thank you so much for this video. My father was disabled early in my life and never got the chance to take me camping due to the problems he would have. Going to take my gf now. Appreciate it!
When we go camping it’s more of like a camp/hike. We hike out into the woods, set up camp and then go hike around. We just return to camp for breaks, to eat or to sleep. We’ve never used any sort of mattress though. Always used tents but last time I tried a camping hammock and I definitely recommend it. It’s far lighter to carry, it’s way more comfortable (fell asleep extremely fast after those long hikes), it has a cover to protect you from the rain and it’s off the ground, also takes last time to put up and take down as well as taking up less room.
Ronald Rose. Hi. Thanks for the kind words. I’m happy you enjoyed it. The goal is to let the folks who have never been camping know that they can do it. Thanks!!
This may seem like simple knowledge but for someone who has never been camping it is very useful. Thank you for the video!
Katie Pray. Thanks! This is exactly why we made this video. It’s all about being comfortable and enjoying that first camping trip.

Hi there, ma'am. Have you gone camping already? I hope it turned out great!!
This is how camping should be. No pandering, no gatekeeping, no hocking unnecessary products. 👌🏽

I'm so sorry you lost your Dad so young.
You will feel him with you when you are out there camping - go for it and enjoy your adventures. ❤️
Can I just say that it is so dang refreshing it is to have a video actually be what the title said?
Thanks!!

As a 200 pound 6 foot tall 17 year old who has slept on air mattresses for well over a month I agree. The air ALWAYS find its way out.
Hey sweet rose i like you 😙
Yeah, and the air can get cold and leave you freezing at night.
Soooo True!!
Awesome 👍😊
Instead of doing my coursework here I am watching random camping tips.
👀. Honestly when I was in college at Alabama, I did my best studying at a campground.

You got your priorities where they need to be.

Great video for beginners. I would just add bring a bucket and some dish-washing soap to clean your pots if staying multiple days.
Folks, if you’re reading this, good advice here on a multi-day camping trip. Soap and a bucket. Thanks!!
just make all that there
Vinegar and wipe it out
Definitely!! I have cleaned an entire cook set used for cooking for about 40 folks with vinegar.
Hot boiling water usually does the trick, just boil the pots and pans with water
Just what I was looking for. Basic, simple, and "just what you need" to get started. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice comments. Have fun camping.
I appreciate that you assume I know nothing and just run through all the basics. Now I have a coherent shopping list for my first camping trip, and I understand which aspects I'm going to need to learn more about before I go. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind comments and have fun camping!
"Coffee's first!" Ah, a man of culture!
Oh yes! I have to have coffee!
heres a tip for first time campers. A out door store called REI. you can join one time fee. they will rent you everything to camp pretty much. probably not firewood.
Really? I never knew that about REI. Thank you for the tip!
I’ve been camping for years and I wouldn’t argue with anything you said. Good job!
Pa Mil. Thanks!! We are just wanting those folks that have never been camping to get out and try it and be comfortable that first time out.
@@useful.knowledge hey thanks, cool video! Really helped me a lot!
This is how i camped with my dad. Super simple yet fun. Cannot overstate how cold it gets, bring plenty of warm clothes, hand warmers are a must.
Thanks and good advice!
I'm about to start living a #vanlife nomadic lifestyle and looking to learn camping, survivalism, bushcraft, and homesteading skills. I can already tell that this guy is gonna be a tremendous help!
Also check out blackie Thomas channel. Simple ideas from the few videos I've seen but smart and comfortable oriented!
Scott how is #vanlife working out for you? I'd like to try that for a year or 2 after retiring.
@@kevinerose I've done similar with a pick up truck and camper on the back following the rodeo circuit, and I had a blast.
As someone who will go camping for the first time since I was kid (I'm 42 now) this is very helpful. My nephew requested that we all go camping on his birthday.
Awesome! Hope y’all have a great trip!
I have been in the Army for 21 years now and I thoroughly enjoyed your class. Well done, I have camped many times in my life but this was a nice back to basics, and well done for the new campers out there 👏 👍
Thanks! We really appreciate your kind comments!
Thanks!! We really appreciate the kind comments! Have fun camping!
Thanks!! Also, thanks for sharing. Your experience is very very true!
Thank you for showing that camping doesn't have to be difficult or fancy! This is as basic as it gets.
Thanks! That was why we did the video. Some folks think it should be a rough and tough experience but it does not have to be. Nothing wrong with having fun!
I been camping alot since I was a kid, this is luxury camping, where were you when I was younger!?
Agree. 30 years of camping and I've never had an air mattress in one of my tents! Luxury for sure. They break/leak so easily I wouldn't want to deal with one camping. The sock tip was a really good one.
Yeee, i camped last year with tent without sleeping bag, and it was fun. This is as you said luxury camp xd
This is honestly the cutest camp starter video ever! Thank you!
:)
Yes sir! Thank you so much for these camping tips! I’m so going to make some cowboy coffee with bagels! Love that! ⛺️
Thanks! Enjoy that camping trip!
After this quarantine I’m going to camp a hole month🙄
Sounds like a plan. Alabama's GOV says we can travel for outdoor activity and these activities are considered essential. Our state park campgrounds are open. Have fun camping when you can go!
Right there with you. In fact, I'm going boondocking next weekend quarantine or not!
Idc I'm camping in the house
I am going camping today lol..
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 حتى أنا
before the pandemic i used to camp three months a year on average, in all weathers and in every month. i have advanced skills and advanced gear. tonight youtube thought i would like your camping 101 video, and it was not wrong.
this is good sensible advice that can get people outside without having to be fancy.
and that tip about breakfast at a restaurant? i recommend it on the way out for advanced campers, too. you pull a sled out of a forest at 15 degrees in the morning and there is NOTHING better than a diner plate and a hot cup of coffee.
Thanks for sharing and the nice comments. Oh yes, we definitely enjoy that last morning breakfast at a restaurant. I don’t know why but the smell of breakfast in a diner is awesome to me.
When I used to go as a kid, it was McDonald's breakfast on the way home. Good memories!
Oh yeah, it was the Shoney’s buffet after camping that I remember so fondly.
I love kamping and I'm no expert but this was a great way to brush up on the basics. Awesome video, number 1 tip was practicing pitching your tent at home!
Thanks!! Have fun camping!
This is a perfect camping video for beginners man. Camping can be such an unpleasant first experience if you’re ill-prepared!!
Thanks! Very true! While in college, I had a group of camping buddies. One of my best friends in college went camping with us. He was miserable because he was just not prepared. We wanted to do this video so folks could be ready and have fun.
Nothing like a good camp breakfast and coffee :)
True!!
amazingly simple, concise, and helpful video.
Never been camping and this is so simple and perfect for newbies.
Thanks and enjoy camping!
I haven’t been camping in a long time. I’m still relaxed just watching this. 😀
Make time to go enjoy. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, your right camping should be fun. Our hope is that more people get out and enjoy the outdoors.
Oh wow that sounds tasty!!
I’m about to take my boys out for our first camping trip in about a month. I love this video because it was very simple and informative for someone who has never gone camping! God bless!
Awesome! They will always remember that camping trip. Best of luck and have fun.
I'm a single mum with an 8 year old boy who wants to try something different. Never been camping before and he has been asking about it so thabk you so so much for posting this video which for others may seem mundane, but for people like me it's a gold as it will allow me to bond with my son and do more "masculine" activities
Thanks!! Just keep it simple as shown in the video. You and your son will have a lot of fun.
Thanks for the kind comments! That hammock trip sounds like it’s going to be awesome! Have fun!
Ground cloth/tarp, rubber mallet, mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, extra socks, fire starter, instant lite charcoal, shovel, leather gloves, fry pan, paper plates, paper towels, hotdogs/brats, chips, mustard, water, camp fork, coffee, cast iron skillet, camp stove,
Great video for first timers and those wanting to bring children along. Keeping it simple. Hope I got it all! Hate to get to the campsite and find I forgot my kitty litter! 😹
That looks like you’ve got the list completely intact! Someone mentioned that I forgot insect repellent. You definitely need that for this time of the year. Have fun!
@@useful.knowledge Yes indeed, and warn folks about Ticks, too. 🐞
Tent‽ lol
This is one of the best camping videos I've found. It really gets down to actual absolute basics and I love that. I haven't been camping in a few years, and I'm taking a trip in a month up to one of our old family spots. This video is a nice refresher.
Thanks so much for the kind comments! Have fun camping!!
How relaxing camping must be.. also big props to this guy still replying to every comment even after 2 years 👌👌
Hi. Thanks! We try to stay involved with all of our videos and reply when we can.
I recently went camping and was not that well prepared. Incredibly useful information here, thanks so much!
Thanks! Hopefully you will get back out there and try it again. Have fun!!
I havent been camping since i was a kid, and I'm taking my family tomorrow for their first time so i gotta beush up on everything. This was a great starting point for me. Thank you sir 🫡
Thanks and have fun camping!!
I love the comment about just go to a restaurant for breakfast! Ha! You made this very user friendly.
Thanks! I’ve actually went to eat breakfast many times over the years. Have fun camping.
This accent is just music to my ears 😍
Aiesha TV. Thanks!
Thank you! I'm going camping for the first time at the end of this month and was kind of nervous.
Hi. This is exactly why we made this video. The goal was as to give tips so that people could have fun and not be overwhelmed by worrying about it too much. Hope you have a great camping trip.
This is really everything you need to go camping, nothing extravagant, just simple items to survive through a couple days.
Syed Shah. Thanks for sharing. That sounds like a fun trip. Thanks for the kind comments. Stay safe and keep camping!
It’s gonna be me and my sons first time camping soon. We’re excited. We got the basics and doing a simple one night trial just to see how he likes it. Great tips.
Thanks! Have fun!!
I’ve always wanted to go camping. This gave me the confidence to do get out there and camp!
Thanks!! Have fun camping!
I hope you enjoyed yourself.
Thanks for the tutorial, I haven't gone camping since I was a kid. This was helpful.
Aaron Wright. Thanks for the nice comments and have fun camping!
I've never went camping on my own before. This is a great video just to get the big picture of camping really. Thanks!
Thanks! I hope you get out and enjoy a camping trip.
He should add Amazon affiliate links, that’d be a good income source while genuinely adding value to his community.
thank you, I am beginning camping at my local campground and I want the simplest guide. I wanted nothing fancy, and everything he used could be used at home! No money wasted.
Thanks !!
Great video!! Going camping for the first time this weekend
Emeka Ekwulugo. Awesome! Best of luck. The reason we made the video is so folks would know how to comfortable and enjoy the outdoors. Have fun!
Emeka Ekwulugo
3 months later - did you survive?
I love how you organized this! Thank you for the information. :)
Thanks! Much appreciated!
Every time I’m using a wood fire I have leather gloves. If they’re thick enough you can quickly pick up coals and hot sticks. Make sure they have no holes and are thick enough.
very nice presentation for us newbies
Grimlock Alexander. Thanks!
Wow! This is very good video! Bravo and thank you for sharing...
Going camping for my third time this weekend..
Msafiri Mhehe. Thanks! Have fun camping!
Thanks so much for the kind comments!!
Thx for this video because next month imma be campin with some fellow boyscouts
Great video, wonderful tips. Thanks for the share.
Thanks!
i've never been camping and i'm almost 40. this video is perfect, thank you!
Thanks and have fun!
They make charcoal that you can burn the bag too so you have less trash. My boy fishermans life uses that on the beach to cook fish and avocado and butter all day long.
This is Basic Knowledge
about Camping.
BUT,
it sure is HELPFUL for those
of who would be attempting
to CAMP for the FIRST TIME
in their life!
THANK YOU, SIR!
🇺🇸
Thank you very much for your kind comments!!
Great video, thank you! I’ll need those tips for this weekend lol
Maria Chavez. Thanks! Just keep going. That first camp out can be rough.
My first, and only time, camping as a child we had Blueberry bangles and strawberry cream cheese for breakfast. It's a nostalgic meal now.
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing. It’s neat how certain thing can happen on a camping trip and are remembered forever.
You literally made my first experience super awesome thank you so much for all the information it might be common sense for a lot of people but for a first timer it could get overwhelming so again thank you so much for the video
Awesome!!! Thanks for the positive feedback and comments! Enjoy camping!
Thank you for the staying warm at night tip!!
Have fun camping!!
My man this is awesome! Totally helped us set up a better camping experience, more comfortable like you said!! Much love from Vegas!
The AntiLazyEffect. Thanks! I’m happy y’all had a good time. That’s why we made the video. Camping can be comfortable.
KeliMan Outdoors. Thanks and a good idea.
foot print is to large. my camp tent is 10' by 10'. my footprint is is 9'6" by 9'6" but a over head tarp is a dang good also
I never camped as a kid and I always wanted to do it. I never knew how. I am now studying up on it and hope to finally go camping!
You can absolutely do it. Just start into camping easy like we show in the video and you’ll have fun. I suggest going to a state park campground or equivalent for your first trip.
I never heard of charcoal to start a fire! What about kindling? That’s what I always use.n
Lisa Quigley. Hi. The main point of the video is for folks that have never started a fire. The instant light will help them have a campfire to enjoy. 99% of the time I personally use kindling. If it’s been raining, I will use a bag of the instant light.
Newspaper works, wait, i don't know how to burn newspaper?
Lisa Quigley ......... You can always purchase the small individual fire logs or fire starter sticks at Walmart or Dollar store , super great an easy to start a fireplace or campfire.
We usually open both sides of the charcoal bag and set it on fire...especially if there's a breeze.
I plan on camping every chance I get after covid. Thanks for the solid tips.
Sounds like a plan! Thanks and have fun.
After this hole thing is over I’m going camping for a hole 5 MONTHS. I haven’t been in nature for ever. Even not tho I went on a hike yesterday. 🙃🙄
Sounds like a plan! We have a few hiking trips planned out for the summer and fall.
Cool! I’m going hiking tomorrow to! And it’s to my family’s favorite waterfall!
Thank you so much for this video. My father was disabled early in my life and never got the chance to take me camping due to the problems he would have. Going to take my gf now. Appreciate it!
Thanks very much for sharing!! All the best camping! I hope y’all enjoy that trip and keep camping!
I feel like I’m in red dead 2 when I go camping lmao
This is the most informative video I have seen. Thank you so much for posting it.
Thanks for the kind comment!!
Learned the socks thing the hard way.
Terrible experience.
Same here. I always thought ahh one pair of socks will be fine. Boy was I wrong!
Hammocks are awesome. To me, what you’re doing would be camping backpacking type of thing. I’ve camped like that. It’s quite nice.
Hello my outdoors friend, thanks for sharing your fine video. I really enjoyed it. The very best to you.
🤗
Ronald Rose. Hi. Thanks for the kind words. I’m happy you enjoyed it. The goal is to let the folks who have never been camping know that they can do it. Thanks!!
Simple But Good Start For Beginners. 👍
