Narration provided by JaM Advertising New Mexico www.tasteofjam.com
flawless it formed the basis for all art and music; a number so important that it could be used across the disciplines of mathematics and physics, and a number so profoundly purposeful that the natural world and the universe would bend to its whims. The Fibonacci Sequence is a string of numbers that begins with zero and one which can be extended infinitely by adding up any two consecutive numbers to find the next in the sequence. The Golden Ratio is a mathematical term used to describe the relationship of two figures, whereby the numbers seem to be in some form of complimentary ratio. To link the Fibonacci Sequence and the Golden Ratio we must look at the ratio between two consecutive numbers in Fibonacci, and observe the pattern this ratio takes as you use ever higher numbers. The Golden Ratio has fascinated the world's most knowledgeable people for millennia since its discovery, and we have seen its influence in some of the finest works mankind has ever produced. Is the Golden Ratio a universal law applied by nature? The evidence seems to suggest so, and the aforementioned Leonardo Da Vinci may have alluded to this in some of his most famous works.

THE ZOMBIE TRAINER You misunderstand. It's the proportion of the two rectangles that form the spiral that is the focus of those examples. The spiral is following how the ratio continues in that patern in art. The art, archetecture, etc that dont have an actual spiral still have forms that fit into 1/1.6~

Many of those spiral pictures are on ethernet. Art majors like architect, or just arts, usually teach the golden number in the very first semesters, and you have to draw it, make the proportion, etc, using a compass, and angle rule. It's fun, hard to understand how, why, the sequence of the numbers, but it does applies in everything perfectly proportione or geometric. You can find the golden ratio even in the universe.

It seems like Petra J knows this and this is what she was saying. You, however, in your ignorance think she literally meant random spirals. It's pretty arrogant of you to lecture someone when you only know fragments of something yourself. I'm sure she knows more about phi than you do. Fun video, but it lacks pretty much everything phi is except for all the spirals. I don't blame the creator tho, phi is deep knowledge about geometry that not many are interested in.

Lol at everyone so confused by this. You aren't supposed to literally see the spiral in things. All that the spiral shows at the core level is what the RATIO looks like. You don't see that LITERAL spiral pattern in things, you see the RATIO that is prevalent in that spiral pattern ON and IN other things- think sea shells, flowers. Think about the way a flower BLOOMS, imagine a rose. It has a small compact bud that gets bigger and blooms out more and more as it goes outwards- like the spiral patterns ratio does also. It's about how the numbers 1,1,2,3,5,8,13, etc are a perfect pattern that creates a certain ratio that we can clearly see in nature and in so many other things. It is the reason why certain things look more or less aesthetically pleasing to you. Artists try to emulate this in their art so that their art has the same mystical beauty that nature does and so that they can capture a scene as though you were actually looking at it in real life. Look up "rule of thirds" if you want to learn more about this, its relevant to the fibonacci series as well.

No problem, I'm currently studying illustration and we learn about this extensively. I never had any issues with understanding it as I was aware of the sequence and patterns even as a child (why i'm a proficient illustrator) before I'd ever even heard of fibonacci or the sequence of numbers that make up the ratio. When children are more adept at drawing than adults- it is because they can see the pattern/ratio (whether they know it or not) and know how to emulate it in their designs, making their drawings much more realistic. It's like the difference between someone who draws hair as lines, and someone who draws hair as the long flowing/tapering form that it really is.
Now that you guys know it'll be hard to not see it in everything. This might blow your mind-
even your fingernails show the ratio. Look at your nail and see how the outsides taper off and get thinner and thinner till they meet your cuticle. Notice how the farther from the cuticles your nail gets, the wider and thicker it gets. A nail left untrimmed for a couple weeks is drastically longer in the middle, and tapers more and more as it gets to the outside until it becomes tiny and nothing when it meets the cuticle. Exactly the same as this ratio does.

I agree it is, I think it's hard to place the relevance of the fibonacci sequence on Geography as you have to remember that the continents used to exist as one and we are not able to see the way in which land has actually changed over time (we can only hypothesize based off of what we currently know).
And I usually charge 15 bro but for you I can do 10. And i'll cise it dog.

perhaps the spiral is causing more confusion then needed. Its not really about the spiral, but the aspect ratio of the elements. IE. they attempted to show the roman/greek/ pillars using the ratio in width and height, but needed to do it in 2 seperate stages with the 2 spirals.
The spiral itself just identifies each section rather then having some random grid overlaying the image. but having said that, they botched it majorly, because the left section includes the stairs, the right doesnt...
So ultimately, they are just pasting spirals over pictures and hoping for the best.

"So clearly the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence have a connection that we haven't worked out yet"
The proof of the connection has been known for hundreds of years, and it comes from the properties of the algebraic expression of the golden ratio. The golden ratio is (1 + 1*sqrt(5))/2. When we multiply this by itself, we get (6 + 2*sqrt(5))/4 = (3 + 1*sqrt(5))/2, and when we multiply this by the golden ratio, we get (8 + 4*sqrt(5))/4 = (4 + 2*sqrt(5))/2. Continuing the process, we get (7 + 3*sqrt(5))/2, (11 + 5*sqrt(5))/2, (18 + 8*sqrt(5))/2, (29 + 13*sqrt(5))/2, .... The pattern in the coefficient of the sqrt(5) is the Fibonacci sequence, and the pattern in the natural number coefficient is the Lucas number sequence. The Lucas numbers are basically the Fibonacci numbers, except you start with 1 and 3, instead of 0 and 1. If you want to eliminate the Lucas numbers, and just stick to the Fibonacci sequence, you can produce a second sequence of powers starting with (1 - 1*sqrt(5))/2 (which is the other root produced by the quadratic polynomial you solve to compute the golden ratio), where each term is multiplied by (1 - 1*sqrt(5))/2. This sequence keeps the Lucas numbers the same, but the Fibonacci numbers are now negative, so you can subtract the two sequences to get the Fibonacci sequence (multiples by 2, divided by 2 and multiplied by sqrt(5)). The multiplication by 2 and division by 2 cancel out, so you just need to divide by sqrt(5) to get a formula for computing Fibonacci numbers using only powers of the solutions of x^2 - x - 1 = 0 (divided by sqrt(5)). Because the golden ratio is the larger of the two roots ((1 + sqrt(5))/2 = 1.61803, and (1 - sqrt(5))/2 = - 0.61803), the ((1 + sqrt(5))/2)^n will approach infinity, but because the magnitude of the other root is less than 1, the ((1 - sqrt(5))/2)^n will approach 0 linearly, so, larger and larger terms of the Fibonacci sequence can be approximated by powers of the golden ratio, so the ratio of successive Fibonacci sequence terms will approach the golden ratio.

the golden ratio is what happens when you have 2 lengths, A & B, such that
      (A / B) = (A + B) / B
the short leg, compared to the long leg, is the same as the long leg compared to both legs put together. this only happens at a very specific ratio.

  • @kenancetin7367

Every one of us has a golden ratio on the back of our heads. This specific use of it is to perfectly distribute hair in every possible direction across our scalp to achieve a "full" look. It results from the golden ratio being the most irrational number thus things produced with the proper, infinite number of the golden ratio would, theoretically, be completely random. This randomness is demonstrated at 08:00. The flower head needs to distribute its seeds in as many directions as possible to spread them most effectively for reproduction. The golden ratio has, in my opinion, an infinite amount of uses from the chance of your existence and the specific way you look (perhaps the location of a mole which could have an infinite amount of different places to exist on your body) to simply the way a hurricane looks.
