This game gets a lot of flak. Technically, it's the best game in the series. what the majorirty of people misunderstood of this game is the feeling with controls... instead of a button smash, this game requires timing and precise button pressing to perform attacks (which are a lot in terms of variaty, compared to the previous games)... at the beginning this system can be disappointing (ad surely it does not feel like a golden axe game) but in the long term you will realise how this way to approach the attacks gives you a deep sense of strategy during the fight... Graphically, sure... it is inferior comapared to the other titles... but it has a good variety of scenarios and a more "journey" feeling. In co-op, it gives its best... and you can perform very powerful combined attacks as well as summon ultra powerful and cool spells...!

However, Kain's true motive was revenge against the demon army and Damned Hellstrike. Kain controls the element of water and can command tidal waves and even a large aquatic serpent ((the combination magic)) on the battlefield Poor man, he lost his close friends at the hands of the Prince of Darkness, even though he has a close friendship with Proud Cragger, Chronos and Sara Burn

It was a piece of shit that rightfully never really made it out of Japan (certainly never to retail anywhere) and a complete disgrace to the Golden Axe series (more so than even Beast Rider). It even feels like a massive step backwards from GA2, especially because of how the magic works here.
Kain Grinder is my favourite character he's a balanced character I remember collecting a full magic bottles once you press the magic button it will summons a tornado water
I remember fighting against one of the heroes when they under the spell of Damned Hellstrike the moment I have the full magic bottles I said: "This will cool you up" and I choose Kain Grinder

You won't get the golden axe even if you defeat the last fellow. You should have reached level a in the marking by the time you reach prince of darkness and kill him. It's not easy, but every enemy got some trick. If you know the method, it becomes easy. You can't play this directly on android screen. You will need some joystick or something.
This is a fine beat em up. It’s just unfortunate that for certain enemies and bosses, you have to use cheap, repetitive moves to get past cheap blocking.
Longer than Golden Axe but not Golden Axe II, Golden Axe is a 20-25 min game, Golden Axe II is 118 min game. Not an easy game to play much like Golden Axe and Golden Axe 3 as my favourite.
Sega clearly could have done a much better job with the visuals here, even pushed more enemies on screen too--Streets of Rage 2 proves this without a doubt--but the game itself looks like a solid third entry in the Golden Axe series.

So, looking at the bigger picture, they're underwhelming. I mean, even the creatures you ride are so sappy compared to the cool-ass dragons in the first game.

They do newer games, but people like myself won't watch them as people like myself aren't into them and love how artistic games used to be, and how creative developers were back in a time when their resources were limited.
I downloaded that in amdroid but the ending was different I didn't face the last boss with golden axe, after I defeated the boss the princess came then that was the ending do you know the reason why?
I don't get why this wasn't released in the US. The Genesis was at its peak in 1993. Golden Axe 3 I thought was one of the best games on the Genesis. The only thing weaker was the magic but graphics and game play were great and the enemies weren't as dumb as a stump like the first 2 games ( which I also liked but were very easy to best)
*I LIKE* how the gryphon daemon is telling how it will not be easy to fight him "NEXT" time. Even as a child I always wondered why would not evil characters fight hard in the first place. It is a funny stupid ploy to drag the game.

All of the Golden Axe games feel so unnatural to control, and it's insanely difficult to judge when I can attack an enemy, or how to willingly grab an enemy - it seems like it always happens by chance, and when I try to do it, I just walk through the enemy and get attacked. The controls are also quite unresponsive, especially the ones that require multiple button presses at once. It would have been nice for Golden Axe III to fix these issues, but considering many people _loved_ the original two, I don't see how this would be such an issue for them...
I don't have any issues with the controls. I would suggest do the battle mode with 2 controllers and practise the moves/timing/grappling there. You grapple an enemy by getting close to them and pressing towards them and attack (different then Streets of Rage/Final Fight where you just walk into them)
I think golden axe 1 is a bit over rated nowadays I don't know why it gets the top of every beat em up list it's not bad at all but people should know it hasn't aged well in my opinion.

It can be had on PS2 and PS3 Genesis collections, so it just took a bit longer to reach US shores.
