- Yeah we found another genuine Mazda RX in the Australian outback.
After the great success that Jay turned the blue RX3 into, I am excited to be working with him again to bring you this rx2 he was given a lead on.

Just want to acknowledge what an awesome young man DJ is! Met him this week after he came to the rescue of my son who'd had an epileptic seizure - so very grateful!! Hope this channel exceeds his dreams & he's rewarded for being a thoroughly decent human being ❤

Great find, rare stuff is still just setting out there all over I guess! Always fun to ponder why it ended up there, that one looks like they hit a tree way out there, then probably could not drive anymore if it overheated. Who knows, just my ponderings from looking at the damage.

Technically speaking, they weren't called "RX-2" in Australia, they were called Capella RE but RX-2 is generally what they're known as. Awesome find though, looking forward to seeing more of it in future episodes.

I honestly did not know that, really cool info. Growing up in NZ my exposure to rotaries was seeing 12a's and 13b's shoved into anything that wasnt a rx chassis lol.
That'd explain the outline of the Capella badge on the rear quarter panels.
Been in the motor industry for long time 47 yrs and Keith is spot on, one of my tech teachers had a green Capella 🇦🇺🇳🇿🤝🇦🇺😎👍✌😊

Late 80s my sisters BF had one. We drove from Chermside in Brisbane to Lismore for a family reunion. We were stopping around every 60ks for the Capella to cool down.
It was funny at first, but got old real quick.

Old beast. Few out near miles in the creek . And we use to bush bash one untill we found a wash out, it stayed there, 25 years ago

Hey , my old man had a few of these Capella RX2s and the 4 cylinders in the 70s.
He said the exact same thing . The engine rebuild kit was going to cost him more than the whole car did when it was new , he couldnt afford to fix the rotary engine !!
my wife says you picked the wrong one, the white car looked easier to fix...
my daughter in law drives a UK '53 mazda 2 capella, its a ford fiesta diesel under its very boxy skin, dam good car, 20yo this year, a bit frilly round the edges, the MOT next month will decide its fate... keep up the excellent work young man

Wow.. I'd restore it in that condition, I'd be stoked af.. Gotta couple 323 bugeyes (whale tail wagon and hatch) with rotary running gear ready to go in but would gladly sacrifice a 323 build for a rx2.

crackup use to be a guy here in NZ who use to pull all the rotas out off Rx2s and thru pistons into them cause he loved the mazdas 616/rx2s but hated the rotas in them ahaha

old r100 was found in townsville and restored down south, rotary died and dealership put a piston in.

JB Camira had the pulsar type engine didn't it? wonder if an SR20 from SSS pulsar would plonk in and be a sleeper. wrong wheel drive for most things though

Dude i an activity looking for a clean camira. Is yours a wagon or sedan?
It’s a white JD SL sedan with a red strip and a 1.8 with a 5 speed manual- it’s complete with keys and a sun-disintegrated owners manual- a slight dent on the bonnet but nothing bad
Those old 4 bangers from Mazda were good, some were only 1300 and were a bit gutless, but they were reliable...see if you can free it up and get it running for a laugh
Very similar to a BMW four... apparently the cranks had an extremely high level of finish. Ours (in Capella and then series II 626) always had carb problems though. I think they were Niki's
Jeez ,hope you filled out the appropriate paper work and paid the fees to Shire /State and Fed Depts for the tree clearing ! No good deed goes unpunished in OZ these days

There is a process and each state is different.

Hey Umm, i know of a Cappella out bush here, but it's just a stripped shell, nothing left on it, no interior, drive line, no doors, but for what it is, probably worth picking it up.. I'll go for a drive tomorrow and Video it, go right over it's condition.. If anybodies interested, send me a message, but it is a completely stripped shell,

I'll have to get more information. Unfortunately, lot of the old metal got scrapped, what was left fire bugs burnt, , also i Don't use Facebook or instagram. But i'll work something out.

@@AutomotiveKarnage 12a twin diz with stage 1 porting and extractors, Carb jetting altered slightly. Raced a single diz coupe once (Standard) apart from wiring the primary and secondary throttle butterflies to open at the same time....primitive back then.
