Hi-Hat Drop Clutch: The Best Gear Hack For Metal & Rock Drummers

In all my year of playing drums, this has been the one piece of gear that's allowed me to not make any musical sacrifices when playing double bass.
Today I'm going to talk to you about one of the most essential pieces of hardware that you can get if you play double bass. If you're a metal drummer or a rock drummer you need to make sure you get one of these right away.
On my hi-hat stand I'm using what's called a drop clutch. It's just like a standard clutch you would use on your hi-hat except, as its name implies, you can drop the top hat.

So why is this so important? You can use this to open or close your hi-hat in the middle of the song. Once you're able to do this it's going to open up a whole new soundscape for you.
A lot of drummers, when they start playing double bass (myself included) don't know about a drop clutch. And may always use high hats closed or open the whole time, or just play double bass against the ride.

Geat info! I recently discover this type of clutch and just order one yesterday because i started playing double bass a few months ago and is very frustrating having to sacrifice musicality/options on the hhs when playing double bass. Awesome video!!

Just check if the clutch fits your hihat stand, cause sadly not everyone fits all...
