RodStiffinton Me too, I only just found Steve today. I just watched his chili recipe. I take from your msg. that Steve died, which saddens me. He seems a down to earth person, I will try these recipes they are normal everyday ingredients.
I worked my way up from dishwasher to chef, Your method for cutting onions is the one I was taught. I also use the ritz cracker on top of Mac and cheese
I've ALWAYS cut onions the Shotgun Red way. Thank you for validating! Hi Miss Shelia! Always thinking of you! I have had great success with your recipes. You are a blessing to keep Steve's spirit alive!
Mr. Steve Hall must have lived in Tennessee for awhile. He said casserole like 50 times instead of hotdish. I wish I knew of him sooner. He seemed like a genuine guy who loved what he did. There's still a lot of great videos of his to watch though. 🙂 Rest in Peace.
Want to thank Mr. Steve Hall and Miss beautiful Sheila for making this delicious video. In times of trouble, I like to make good home cooking recipes to make it feel all better…..to soothe the soul…..to calm the spirit in such troubled times . So saddened to see Mr. Hall is not with us any longer, he will be missed dearly ,but now the Angels can enjoy all his delicious warm home style cooking. Thanking you both for making a pleasant difference in people’s lives for the better, for making them feel like family just popping in……..Thank You sincerely 🙏🏻❣️
So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I so enjoy his videos. Happy to know Miss Sheila is going to continue carrying the torch. May Steve rest easy and Miss Sheila continue on. God bless you.
Excellent dish! I was sure glad Steve showed how he cut onions. So much easier and I haven’t cut my fingers since I started using his method. Thank you for the recipe and tip! 👍🏻👍🏻
Always cracks me up how Shelia reacts to Steve saying “here’s the scoop on this” 6:30 to adding the cheese. Even when he wasn’t trying he was one funny man
RIP Steve. You're awesome and the perfect kind of cook to have around. I love all your vids and glad to see there are many left to see. Eating some of your pickled veggies for my lunch along with a big piece of this casserole. It's yummy. ROLL TIDE!
P. S. I'm from Alabama, originally- we always said, "Casserole"! (Truth be told, never heard the term, "hot dish"! Well, you learn something new everyday- thanks!
I was so caught up in the recipe and making it as often as I could and as often as demanded that I too was unaware that he had passed. R.I.P. Ran out of binge watching material and decided to watch the History of Shotgun Red and have been reading some of the comments and I am truly saddened.
Thanks for watching all of those. Now i have something else you can watch. Click on shotgunred1000 Steve out fishing and in his garden and out on the road doing shows. etc....
IDK how I missed this before! This stuff is great. Thank you Shotgun Red and Miss Sheila. I did see another share about the onion cutting, but this one stuck in my mind better for some reason. It really is so much easier. I hope all is well and everyone stays safe.
I just found this channel...love it. Shelia my Momma too lived in Alabama, Beaverton. I lost my mom 1 year ago. I enjoy your recipes...tried several and southern down home cooking. Thanks for the fun.

I just came across this channel (it was the 2-ingredient pizza crust that brought me here) and I've been enjoying the videos and the recipes and especially the personalities. So I was especially saddened to learn of Steve's passing. But it's nice to know a part of him is still here connecting with people, and that is about as good a tribute as you can ask for...
I tell my wife about these recipes all the time. Saturday I'm getting up and making our four boys chocolate gravy and biscuits. I loved watching him cook. RIP good sir
Ended up linked to this Alabama Ritz cracker topped hash-brown casserole, it looks wonderful too. YUM YUM!!!! Love you She-She and Jen-Jen. Thanks for working so hard.
Ms Sheila you are absolutely stunning! Where would we be without our casseroles? Sending you great big hugs from NW suburbs of Minneapolis. My daughter and grandson live in Auburn AL. Love your Alabama element.
I have been watching your show for a while now (but on TV UA-cam). I just noticed that Red passed away 12-29-19. His absence must leave a giant hole in the lives of the people who knew and loved him. I miss him and he was not even a part of my personal life. Please know that he will live forever through your videos and through the happiness that he gave to other people.
I made this recipe almost exactly as stated. Only difference is that I used cream of celery soup instead of chicken and because we had a big box I used Cheez it crackers on top. I would certainly put it right up there with the Cracker Barrel recipe which is obviously similar. Something about potatoes-sour cream-cheese together cannot be beat. I think they would love this dish in Russia and eastern Europe. Never stopped watching, always enjoy these dishes. Hope the lovely Miss Sheila is doing well. Rolltide!😀
We had this for lunch and it was really Great!! I had to substitute o'brein potatoes instead of hash browns and it was awesome!!! Thanks for the recipe!! The Ritz cracker topping made it happen!! Thanks Sheila!!!
I couldn't remember if I were supposed to cook the onions first or not. When I looked it up none of the recipes called for onions. I thought, did I imagine onions? Lol I'm thankful to have come across your channel. THANK YOU!!!
I saved the first show I saw Steve, showing us how to cut an onion! Sounds simple, but it's not! Nope wasn't cream cheese, just took sour cream from the frig and tried to mix it. Now, I let it set out for about 30 mins and works right in like it does in the video. Fluffy as Miss Sheila says!
