  • Biscuits and sausage gravy
    Brown and remove your 1 ib. of sausage (leave the grease)
    Stir in 1/2 stick butter / 2 tbsp. flour (make a blonde roux)
    add milk a little at a time until you have mixed in about 1 to
    2 cups ... add sausage... season with salt and pepper.
    Enjoy!

      @@CookingwithShotgunRed I knew of Shotgun Red from my days watching Jackie Bushman's Buckmasters, I believe, on TNN. Never knew the story, or I should say, the man behind Red. These cooking segments have become a favorite of mine, and so has Steve. Thank you so much, for sharing these shows in this way. Blessings to you❤

    In the Army back about 30 years ago we had creamed beef, over the omelette and hashbrowns, phenomenal! This looks super delicious!
    I just found out tonight that Steve passed. I am sad right now, but I'll keep on cooking some of his recipes and think of him every time.

    Love this recipe. Steve's spirit lives on through everyone that uses his recipes. Praying for Mrs. Sheila and the rest of the family. I've already used a couple of his recipes and they all worked up nice!! R.I.P My friend. It's not going to be long 'til we all meet together with OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. 🙏

    As much as I love and respect the fact you all have kept it going, I miss Steve so much. His humor and gentle demeanor really made me feel like I was hanging out with my best friend. I'm so sad still. He also inspired me to get into working with puppets. Such a talented and beautiful soul.

    I learned how to make biscuits and gravy from one of Steve's videos. I made it for a buddy once when camping and it was his first time tasting it and he was blown away. Looking forward to spreading the light to others on another camping trip.

    One of the first dishes I learned how to make and still one of my favorites with a couple runny eggs on top. I love watching Steve making this recipe. And do it just like he says, your family will be thanking you for days.

    Steve was right. We Northerners never had it so good as when biscuits and gravy made their way up river. I discovered them after moving to Tennessee several years ago. My friends and family back in Minnesota thought I became a magician the first time I made this stuff for them. They thought the same thing when I smoked ribs for them.
    Though I never knew him personally, I always felt like Steve was my friend here in Tennessee that I knew from back home in Minny. Good-hearted people just seem to have that effect on others. Thanks to Shiela he lives on.

    My Tennessee step father used to call this “Grease Gravy”. But they used self rising flour which made the gravy very light and fluffy. Mostly used bacon grease, and over buttermilk biscuits there’s nothing better!

    Man, I just found his videos. Made pickled watermelon rind just yesterday. Found out this morning that he’s no longer with us 😢. Finally saw Miss Sheila, quite the looker, she is. Well Steve, your legacy lives on in UA-cam land.

    I was on a ski trip in Montana and breakfast I had biscuits and gravy so I needed to see how to make it. Searching UA-cam, soon as I saw you I thought, this is a man who knows sausage gravy! The mullet, the moustache. Bravo, sir! Now we are going to eat biscuits and gravy, daily.

    Looks SOOOO good! Makes me want to have some of this right now! Always liked bacon, biscuits and gravy, also sooooo good. Steve always had a way of simplifying things and making cooking seem so easy that everyone could do it. I will surely miss watching these videos, but know that Miss Sheila is carrying on with these shows. Carry on the legacy, and we love you and miss Steve so much!!!

    I love biscuits and gravy , always wanted to make my own gravy instead of gravy from a packet you add water too. I feel confident that I can do this!! maybe will need to try it a few times before I get that first part right but I think I can do it!

      Homemade is so much better. That packet stuff has a metallic taste to it. It's not too hard to do, just add your milk slowly like Steve did until you get the desired thickness.

    Try some Worcestershire sauce. It ads a great taste.

    They used to serve us, school children, when I attended a Goverment Boarding School when I was a child. I loved it, so I make it often for myself. I will use an electric skillet next time.

    9:19 -- Wamp-um biscuits = refrigerated Pillsbury biscuit dough (so named because to open the container, you must "wamp" (hit) it on the edge of a counter (or similar hard surface).

      Same here! Precooked is good if you are pressed for time. We love biscuits and gravy. It is a staple in most southern homes.

    Can a Cornstarch water slurry be used in place of Flour (if flour isn't available) to thicken the Gravy?.

      Steve passed away December 29th 2018 we had the Houseboat built 2008 sold it Oct 2014

    try adding a splash of Worchestire sauce and a pinch or two of poultry seasoning to the gravy, it really makes it pop !

    was so confused when i seen in the title biscuits and gravy as a brit the image i had in my head was pure horror but after watching the video looks like it would taste nice your biscuits look like what here in the UK we would call some sort of bread roll

    I just wonder how this would be if you used a roux like Steve did in his video where he baked the flour first. Bet it would be nice and dark like Bob Evans restaurant serves.

    I really hate finding a new channel that a like only to find out the person has passed away. This is the 2nd channel in a week where this is the case. Steve seemed like a great guy that lived a pretty cool life. It’s really too bad he passed at 64.
    I missed out on his shows while they were on TV but it’s cool watching them online today.
