I’m pan searing some ribeyes tonight and wanted to figure out an easy way to make some baked potatoes, I just so happen to have a ninja foodi grill(the big one) so I’m glad I seen your video, that’s how I’m going to make my potatoes tonight. Thanks!
I cut potato only on top but do not cut sides at all, then I push the end sides inwards, this causes the potato to squish up a bit which makes it fluffy which makes it better for salt & pepper to drop down further inside the potato .
Tonight I decided to cook a potato just for myself. I used the bake mode and set the temp at 375 and the time for 40 minutes. I poked some holes in the potato but did not use any oil or salt. I put the potato on a small rack that I placed inside the bottom container (not the air fryer basket). After 40 minutes I checked the potato with a sharp knife. It felt done, but just to be sure, I flipped it and cooked for 6 more minutes at 375. It worked out fine for me.
Hi Daphne, thank you for the instructions. I know you used the bake setting, but I curious if the skin was crispy on the outside. I used the air crisp function so that I could get a crispy skin. I am curious to try baking, and finish with the air crisp function. Thank you for watching :)
@@NightTimeMommyReviews I didn't pay much attention to the skin because I don't eat the skin, but I think it was somewhat crispy. Try it and see. I'm sure you could do it the way you mentioned, using bake and air crisp both.
LOL that should be the first thing you make in it. That paired with a nice steak :) Perfect every time in the grill. Congrats on the new grill, I know you will love it
Oil on the skin that long makes skin like leather. Don’t oil till last 10 minutes. Bake till 205 degrees. Soak potato’s in salt water a minute or so before baking, the brine soak makes for a baked potato you will long remember as wonderful
I have a Ninja and I understand why the Air Fryer setting is best. Frozen French fries are so much crispier than oven baked and just as good as deep fried without the mess. It might be tempting to try the microwave then Air Fry method someone else mentioned. 40 minutes for one potato does seem wasteful? It might be necessary though to get the skin just right and microwaving can make the bottom of the potato inedible.
I am a chef by trade. You don't poke as many holes as that. You only need to poke holes once or twice. Because the potato will build pressure inside and cook more even.
When you cut open the potato, don't do it like that. You creat a crevice so butter to leak out. Try a zig zag cut or an X then press inward from each end to fluff, then put butter/toppings on. FYI
I usually do these on the Bar B Q , but in the dead of winter, no thanks. I will give this a whirl. Not a complaint but when you do a video it’s always nice to the the person making the video, it adds a little personal touch. Keep up the great work . May the cook be with you. 🥂
Thank you :) I agree, grilling in the cold is a no for right now. The NFG makes it nice to grill in the winter haha. I have a small kitchen so its a bit tough to be in the videos at the moment, but hopefully later in the future :)
Hi Jim, I am so sorry to hear about your grill stopping at 30 minutes. I would contact Ninja. I just checked their manual (pg. 10), and the air crisp function goes up to 1 hour. If you have the pro, it is on pg 12, but it also says it will go up to an hour.
Jim Brannan this is normal. Grill=30 min max setting...Air fry=1 hr max setting...Bake=4hr max setting...Roast=4hr max setting...Dehydrate=12hr max setting. If you need to grill for longer you will need to reset just before the first grilling finishes. Hope this helps....Jim
Didn’t work for me…after 30 minutes on 200c potatoes were still uncooked- actually raw. Had to revert back to to microwave to cook then 5 min on air crisp…I’ve obviously done something wrong. Maybe I should have put it air crisp rather than roast/bake!
It actually takes 50 minutes at 375 or 45 minutes at 400F.....you can take 5 minutes off these cook times if you let it set 10 minutes after it is done cooking....
Looks great! Thanks! One thing...why would you pour oil in a measuring spoon? And then pour it on the potato? Why not just pour it in your hand and rub it on? Then wash your hands before picking up the salt container? Guess I'm anal.
These little contraptions are nice, but after reviewing dozens of videos, I find it rather boring the way you have to flip almost everything you cook. That's a nuisance to me, so don't think I will be buying one after final thought.
You are doing just fine! You were very easy to understand and I appreciated the instructions for the Ninja and the demonstration. I will be trying this recipe tonight. Another reason to use the Ninja versus the oven is it doesn't heat up the whole house! Thank you for your help with this! 😊

@@truthhurtz2793 Aweee, maybe next time. You can also do a fully loaded baked potato :)
Super! Thanks for teaching each step
It doesn’t heat up the kitchen either. Another plus using the Ninja!
oh yeah :)
My alarm goes off idk if I’m using the wrong oil or what
Great recipe and it worked great for me.
Great video
Use Avocado oil. Tastes much better than n grapeseed
Wow! What an awesome video! I will have to make some potatoes soon!
Thank you Noah, and thank you for watching :)
@@NightTimeMommyReviews my ninja wont go any higher than 210 degrees
I will try this. Thank you. Be safe.

Looks great! But just curious why your using the air crisp setting over the bake setting? I mean baked potatoes right?
Hi Jaron :) Thank you! Lol, true, it is a "baked" potato, but I chose to air crisp so that I could have a crispy outside :)
I used the bake function and it worked out just fine. I set my temp at only 375 for about 45 minutes.

I microwave mine for 4 minutes and finish in the ninja for crispiness
Same here, why take the long way around?
Yes I think so too microwave first. These device cost a lot of electricity power and 40 mins for making 2 potatoes are not worth it.
40 minutes in Ninja vs less than 10 in microwave. Microwave potatoes don’t get dried out by a fan either. Microwave wins this one.
Yeet
Great video. Will you continue to other recipes like shish kabobs for us 1st timers?
Thank you. Yes of course :) I have tons of ideas in the works at the moment. :) Thank you for your suggestion. 😀
The smoke point thing (re olive oil) is disproven yeah …it did have currency a decade ago,but no longer.

I had no idea. I've always poked a lot of holes in my potatoes to bake them. I will definitely try only poking them once or twice next time.

I just want to know if you air fry or use the grill function and for how long? I know how to use oil and salt. Thanks.
I used the air crisp function, 400* for 40 minutes

Use air crisp rather than bake?
Be sure to hit that, Like Buddin .
As we speak
Never done baking potatoes

it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to get the potatoes done, how could it be it takes you 40 minutes?

40 Minutes!? WOW Microwave them and boom, within 5 minutes they are one lol But I do love your videos girl :)
the microwave changes the potato molecule structure it's not the same thing
40 minutes? Girl throw those in the microwave for ten minutes. Flip after 5. That’s a long time for some baked potatoes.
LOL. Its funny that you mention the microwave. I didnt even know that was possible until just last week. Im wondering if it will be crispy tho 🤔
@@nodiaprax2695 Whoa!!!! Now thats something I need to try! Thank you so much! I am totally doing this tonight haha.
Yeah if you want soggy potatoes, this is how you cook them if you want good food

40 minutes? I can do it on the stove for less minutes. That’s crazy. Expensive utility bill.
Don't think so. Maybe boiling but not baking.
why do Americans always ask you what is 'up'? Up where?
Haha. Good question. I am just use to saying it. Everyone has something they say frequently. This is one of the common phrases I use haha.

Rubbish sorry typical
40mins is a waste of time, have to use the right tool for the job, could've made this in the microwave in less than 5mins
Microwaving any food destroys the nutrients and live enzymes in the food.
Pro tip: Stop saying "go ahead and..."
