Every time Pete plays I get happy! Isn't it great when great players shred on medium tone-full gain!
Sounds really good. Definitely its own thing. Meshes really good with your style, Pete.
props to you pete, that was short but a lot intense, the solo sounds really a lot inspired
Something about the demo song kept making me think of RUSH. This pedal has a really lovely squishy dirt to it which makes it stand out from the crowd.
Gawd tone alert on the tele @ 6:30 - 6:45. Very nice review as always Pete. Thank you for all of these! Very helpful.
Pete will make a potato sound awesome, no fair!
Potato!!
But it has to be a King Edward!
TRUE! Pete is completely awesome
Timing super! Good effect! Great guitarist
Great Sounding Pedal. The EQ Controls seem very flexible. Nice individual Note Definition - too.
This proves Chocolate, is very good for you! Very nice tone!
It has that nice spongy drive like the blue Supro Drive. Love it.
Dude.... sounding awesome!!!
Another great intro track by the maestro. Great tone, a bit dark but dig it.
7:07. That little run was gorgeous! Had to listen to it a few more times.
Yup! Completely agree.
The bass and tremble seem usable across all positions. Really nice for eqing to each pickup.
And it doesn’t seem to take the character of the guitars. Great sounds!
Hi Pete, great pedal and greater review. Your chops are killer, a real treasure. I love your style and guidance.
+Keith Carter thank u Keith!
Another classic demo. I must admit I long for the tones you did for that Bogner fuzz pedal demo some time back. Bring the heavy!
+Justin Martin That was a fun one!
Great guitar parts throughout - and the sound = mmmmm
Hi Pete! As always, a masterful video. BTW - if you ever want to break down that quick run at the 7:05-ish mark, I will forever be in your debt. Thanks for having such a great channel.
I love how this pedal sounded with the Gibson! Sweet pairing for rock rhythm guitar.
Dude... You are an inspiration.... BIG TIME!!!! I have never heard you play a riff or chord progression and thought. .. "oh, that sucked"... I always hear quality playing..quality tone..quality everything. The style of music you play always, always, always fits perfectly to the gear, which many others do great, but, you stand out..Your kick ass playing makes the gear you demo sound awesome. Thank you for busting your ass and not stopping.. Because when I hear you play.. It moves me...inspires me to play...
+jim phelps hey thanks so much!!!
Thanks Pete now that's how to make a preview show!
Rad sounds!
Little darker than your normal tones and I like it!
Sounds delicious!
Sounds like PJs Cropduster. Always solid Mr Thorn!!
Well I just got mine. It is a mind blower. For a start with the gain turned all the way down to off
it sounds so good that some guys will use it for their 'always on' clean sound. You can get one of the best 'Fusion' sounds out of it possible or crank it up for a great medium gain rock sound. The whole gain pot is the sweet spot!!!! You can find a great setting only to find that move one knob a hair's breadth and it is even better!
Yes ...'killer' is definitely the right adjective for this OD.
Sounds great, very chocolate-y
I know WD Guitars...I made my #1 Strat from parts from those guys. Great folks to deal with.
Intro tune kinda has an "Open Up Your Eyes" (Tonic) vibe going on. Diggin it.
Thanks for sharing this, Pete! That is a very badass sounding OD. Also, I think that I'm in love with that green Suhr. I need to get me one of those badly! Are you ever going to release an instrumental album? I'd buy it so fast that it'd make people's heads spin!
+cmonsterz thanks, my 1st album Guitar Nerd is out and my 2nd is about to be released in a little over a week!
That turquorise Suhr guitar screams! Great playing
Found you through Robert Baker....you are my new favorite guitarist! Everything you touch turns into AMAZING! You and Robert have inspired me to become a better player! Thank you sir! EdubD
+Learn to play Guitar A- Z! Thanks! Robert is great
Absolutely killer jam Pete Thorn! Great offering
Nice. It reminds me a bit of some classic King's X tones. 8)
Very Awesome Tones! Sounds also kinda Warmly nastalgic' Way Cool✌☺🎸🔊🎼
you rock pete!
+drock black thank u!
The king of demos!!! Make a video of "Chocolate Bar pedal" by Chris Rocha. Its a good one too!
Hi Pete, always looking forward to your videos. I've noticed the hardware controller for the t.c. 2290 plug in on your shelf - will you do a review of it? (I made the mistake of selling my 2290 and am very curious about the software version) Thanks!
Hey Pete, killer demo and tones... if you had to how would this compare to the Pettyjohn Gold?
The whole relic'ing thing makes me chuckle. I imagine this small company having issues with getting their finish perfect and experiencing and not being able to afford all the send backs. Then someone on the board say, "Hey, you know there is this trend called relic'ing." Cut to the next scene where the painter finishes it and inspects his work of perfection. Satisfied he tosses it on the floor and some kid come along and kicks it down the hall all the way to shipping.
If it sounds great who care
Y A W N
Yes, that is what really matters. I don't get the relic'ing thing but then I wouldn't say no to a Friedman guitar because, although it may be reliced it's still an awesome guitar.
I used to get all twisted up about relic'd stuff. Then I quit caring what other people want. It's not for me, but I also understand a guy wanting a '58 replica Strat that *looks* like it was made then. Originals are 20 grand or more. $5,000 gets you one nearly indistinguishable and seem to hold their value.
It's a mistake to think relic lovers are pathetic.. I've seen and heard these so-called posers put even the most accomplished musicians in their place without even intending to.
We need a 'best of' Pete Thorn album :) - dig your original riffs for these demos - peace T
+tonelocrian New album is coming out very soon! Two weeks
Awesome Pete ! Been following you for a few years now & really appreciate the hard work you do on tone improvement education,
& creating stellar guitar tracks - we briefly said hello at the Amp Show few years back, lookin 'forward to your new tracks - peace TMax
Hey Pete nice demo, do you record drums live
To me it growls like an open back Marshall very cool
How close is it to an Xotic pedal?
this really is killer.
Pete, ever try Synergy syn 5050?
Looks a lot like the CMATSMOD BROWNIE with an added BASS knob.
That lick @ 07:20
Diggin' it!!
Do you ever use your Komet amp?
Keep up the great work, Sir.
-Scott
Just started using it more recently!
Uncle Scott I heard that riff at 7:20 and thought the same thing... What the hell was that...rewind.....say..wha.... Rewind... Man.......rewind... Damn.... That's about how it went for me.....
Uncle Scott *
Sounds lovely! Any more affordable overdrives that sound like that?
The Elektron Analog Drive is similar. I think it sounds a little better, honestly. Not sure what the Chocolate goes for but the Elektron is going used on Reverb for $180. Keep in mind that he's running it through his really nice tube head (PT100, I believe). The amp will shape the pedal more than the pedal will shape the amp, from my experience.
Or maybe the Bogner LeGrange
Agreed, too expensive for what it is. Try the Suhr Eclipse.
Pete check out the Kafka Reverb from Germany - killer ✌️✨🎸
I need sm Alice Cooper vocals over this.... talking about blood and lost years for my love...always here for the art Mr Thorn
+Alexius Λ thanks!!
Very very cool foot pedal I got to get one. And I just have to say I your music .
justin wallen hate? love? dig? Now we wanna know! 😉
Olli Schröder love 🎸🎸🎸🎸
P.T.! We've been seeing that Tele more lately. Love it! Details?
+Patrick Kennedy 1966, w/Ron Ellis pickups
For the love of all that is holy...
Did it already have the Ron Ellis pickups in it, or did you have to wait 8 months for them, or did you get to jump to the front of the list? ;)
Boy that sounds nice - but then, so does everything you do !
Pete your are easily the best pedal guy on UA-cam! Are you using the bonsai pedal personally? Tks brother!
I used the Bonsai for a long time, currently using an Archer, both are great!
Pete Thorn tks for the response man
Where can you buy one in the us?
darryl weller We are the only company selling them outside of Japan. You can order one directly from our website www.wdmusic.co.uk and we will ship worldwide. Thanks.
2 more questions please, who are your personal favorite top 5 guitarists of all time? And have you ever tried a diamond amp?
More chocolate... more thunder... ~Tom Morello
That sounds so good I want to eat it up. Let it melt slowly in my mouth and feel the unctuousness all the way down.
Delicious tones, but is it good on ice cream, man?
Filthy wool sock, in a good way. Analog? The drive turned up made me wonder.
I hear some Warren DiMartini in there! :)
DOES IT CHOCOLATE RAIN???
Not edible? Sounds great though.
I reary rike Chocorate!
Sounds like Jerry Cantrell in a foot pedal
And your new album is amazing man.
First!!!
If I was Ibanez I would take all these thieves to court. And just what the world needed another bloody OD pedal.
Neil don't be grumpypants
