With the shots you have in night mode, how have you approached doing this Darren? Everything I've read certainly for the UK basically says you cannot fly drone over 250g in built up areas, like towns and villages, public areas like recreation grounds such as monuments or status etc. So shots like the stuff over the streets (not sure where this is) are not possible with a drone of that size in the UK. Unless there is a work around here, with some form of licensing, or maybe membership of model aircraft doc??
If you have DJI contacts . Can you pester them to give cruise control to the mini 3 pro .... I like to video myself from my motorcycle but trying to fly the drone in a straight line while riding is a no no ... Cruise control would be the ultimate addition to the mini 3 pro ..

I got the Mini 3 Pro when that released. I would like to have an Air 3, but the mini is just more convenient. Though I would like to have it, I've never even needed to use a zoom yet. The mini is pretty good in wind to too. A lot better than I expected.
As much as I love the Air 3 features, I’m so hooked on my Mini3Pro, I’ve had no issues travelling to the US or Philippines and it’s my go to drone in all instances.
With DJI coming out with obstacle avoidance on the Air 3 that incorporates a sensor that covers front and side, how long will it be before we see this same sensor on the Mini4Pro? Something to think about for sure eh???😊

The weight and the rotating camera to vertical orientation are the 2 biggest features that will prevent me from "upgrading". I can manage with the wind and without the zoom.
I appreciate you making this video. I’ve watched a few and this is the only one that really answered all my questions in a way that was easily understandable. I currently have the Mini 3 Pro and was looking to upgrade. I’ve had my mind set on the Mavic for a while, but this has me thinking otherwise. I’m just a hobby flyer so a majority of the camera lingo went right over my head, but the range, and ability to handle wind better is a huge selling point. Thanks again for all the work you put into this. You’re my first stop for any info moving forward! 😊
mini 3 pro for me is perfect tiny and no need for the licence etc can go anywhere with me
I wanted to buy the mini 3 pro but then i checked my local laws and i need a licence anyways because all camera drones require licence so there for i bought the Air 3

Well the air 3 even though the sensor is the same the sensor is differently laid so the air 3 is better quality and the air 3 has better fly time

I already have the Mini 3 Pro, but I am thinking of getting the Air 3. My main reason to get it is the 3x camera, better wind resistance, and the extra features. The downside for me is the weight restriction in the UK limiting me from flying near buildings. The weight of the drone is not a problem as I often carry my Nikon P950 zoom camera which weighs 1kg.

Great review & comparison. I've been so pleasantly surprised with my Mini 3 Pro and it almost always performs exactly how I need it to. I have been considering the Mavic 3 Pro for a little while for the 70mm as I love to shoot longer focal lengths but given how well the Mini performs it seemed like overkill, the Air 3 seems like a really good halfway with some of the handy things I wish the Mini had like waypoints etc. I'd also love to see some good night/low light comparisons between the Mini 3 Pro and the Air 3, that might be the difference that does it for me as the Mini 3 is a little underwhelming when the light gets low
I had the mini 3 bought it then 5 days later the air 3 was released i watched lots of videos on it and decided to return the mini 3 and get the air 3. I got to play with it a lot yesterday on my day off. and wow what an amazing drone the cameras are a lot better then the mini 3 and it handles amazingly in the wind just so good well worth it if you thinking about switching.
I recognised almost immediately the landscape in your video 😊

I am aiming to have both just recently switched from mini 2 to mini3 pro but kinda wish I waited a little but it is nice having the native vertical video and it’s already done me so much good!
I love my mini 3 pro. It’s my little companion, friend and buddy.
Being disabled it is the perfect drone for me. It can go anywhere with me as it is so small and light. I take it out my bag, put it on my home made landing pad on the front of my mobility scooter and away it goes.

I bought the Mini 3 pro and fly mostly in the Lakes (non NT areas anyway), Eden valley and Solway coast, so far heavy winds haven't been an issue (though I can see it becoming so in the autumn/winter). So the choice for me would be Air 3 vs Mavic classic not as a replacement for the M3P but as a complementary option. Do I need a zoom? well not so far, as my footage is of landscapes and specifically Geomorphological features, so generally no uninvolved people and I can drop down low to get closer and more detail. However I am tempted by the Mavic classic as the camera seems the best of the lot - is it?

Good comparison, but you missed a few things, the Mini 3 pro you can get extended battery that will last just as long as the air3, and also the Mini 3 pro is much quieter then the Air 3, it does not attract as much attention when flying.
I love my mini 3 pro. Compact and less noise. For me, the best drone is the one you can carry all the time. Air 3 specs is good but I will pass on this upgrade. Great video, very informative comparison
I sold my mini 2 last year, got the 3 pro. Yes it’s better in the evening but I realised nobody would notice the difference. In fact for 90% of us they are all amazing but the mini pro is the most sensible convenient drone. Next the mini 4 pro is going to keep in between the 3 pro and the air. I think it’s all a bit confusing but what makes it simple is in the U.K. even the mini 3 pro needs an operational code which is £10. Pros are using the 3 pro to do building 3D photography. If it’s bling you are after or pro work get bigger but after getting the 3 pro I’m hanging onto it for a few years this time, I regret selling the 2 which was more than good enough for most use.

Hi Darren! Any chance you can to a photo comparison test between the Mini3Pro and Air3 using the 24mm camera at 48mp. I use the Mini3Pro for aerial photography and print up to 32inches wide and they’re excellent but is the new Air3 really worth the upgrade? Interesting to see if a difference for us photographers.
sounds like ill be adding the air 3 to my case with the mini 3 pro . i dont do enough side jobs to justify the purchase of the mavic pro but the air 3 seems like it gives me the features of the mavic with a half the price

Is the Air 3 Controller compatible with all other DJI Drones like Mini 3 Pro or the Mavic 3 classic????? I have the RC Pro Controller and the RC Controller which I use both for my Mini 3 Pro I was very disappointed to hear the RC Pro is not compatible with the AIR 3.
Hello, I have never had a Drone and I want to start in this world. Actually I want it for work purposes, to make recordings and photographs, my question is Is it better to start with a DJI mini 3 Pro (At the moment I would only buy the basic package), or start with a DJI Mini 3 (I would buy it with the Fly More Kit) ?

Air 3 and Mini 3 Pro photos look extremely similar in good lighting conditions. Air 3 wins in low light (which most consumers aren't legally allowed to use in the USA anyway). The 3x is a great camera, but so is the vertical camera in the Mini 3 Pro. The Mini 3 Pro is still an awesome drone, and just because the Air3 is out it doesn't take away from how incredible the mini is. I have a Mavic 3 Pro, and I'm having a really hard time parting ways with the Mini 3 Pro. If I had neither the Mini or the Mavic, I would definitely go for the air.
Who said most consumers aren’t legally allowed to fly in low light in the USA? I fly at night all the time I just good footage of my downtown with no problems.

Great info as usual I really can't see the point in this drone for the uk as new restrictions will be coming in soon.i use a mini 3 pro just for photography and edit in Lightroom and Luminar 4 sky replacement.ive never had any problems with signal.
Very good and fair description for those who are hesitating between the two drones. All depends on YOUR expectation for drone usage. Quick questions: Can we expect from DJI a battery Plus for the AIR 3 (similar to what is offered on the Mini 3 Pro) in order to boost the flight time up to 60 mn? And last one million dollar question: Any Mini 4 Pro in DJI plans for 2024?
Great comparison Sir!!; just one comment regarding image quality on the the Mini3 Pro at 3 x digital zoom; my own M3P footage looks excellent compared to the Drone you tested at 3 x; suspect (as with all DJI Camera systems) there is some variations with the quality coming out of the sensors !!!!!

Nice review. Can you please share you source for information about the difference between the two main sensors? Many people states they are identical from HW point of view and even on the DIJ website they are listed with the same exact specs.
Found the answer from another reviewer (DC Rainmaker) with official slides from DJI.
If am not mistaken this is a camera 🤷. You buy a drone for it camera and if it comes with extras it's a bonus. So why oh why would you buy the Air 3 with this camera over the Air2s 🤯. Stacking has never worked no amount will ever be better than a true pixel. It's also interesting they use the same sensor on the Action 4 yet it's only 10mpxs ,If stacking was that great they would have used it on this.
I think you can get waypoints using external apps with mini 3 pro, I think it's pretty perfect, even the night videos looked pretty similar to me.
I think I would get mini 3 pro + Mavic, big one for big stuff, little one for everyday usage

I'd really like to see a test between the Mavic 3 Pro or even a test against the regular Mavic 3 dual camera any of the Mavic series. Just see how far they've come with camera tech. I also would like to see a high interference area type test on the signal between the Mavic series. I really like signal specs like the extra antennas in the drone and on the controller. As far as my mini 3 Pro I love it and I cannot say anything bad about them they're the perfect drone to start with or use professionally. I think for the price difference, I might as well go for the air 3. It'll be for my photography business, so it'll be worth it. I do like how the Mini 3 pro physically turns its camera for vertical shooting though.

Im looking to buy one, did not know yet. The prices are not much diferent to the fly more combos. The mini fly more combo plus give u 2 bigger batteries. I wish the Air 3 had a better zoom camera, them would be perfect choice for me.
I like to explore, the mavic 3 is just too exepensive but have a nice zoom camere 7x them 28 digital.
I think that the previous drone regulation under 250g is more or less obsolete (EU). The European drone classes C0 and C1 are so similar that you no longer necessarily need a mini drone. With the AIR 3 you can also fly in the "Open A1" class and do almost everything that is also possible with the Mini 3 Pro. Of course, a smaller drone is easier to transport

Another notable difference is the noise level. The mini 3 pro is much quieter and therefore attracts less attention.

I have a lot of time with the Mini 3 Pro and just upgraded to the Air 3. It would be hard to go wrong, but I’m completely sold on the Air 3. To me the flight capabilities and video transmission are leaps ahead. It is much larger and heavier. I won’t by tucking the Air 3 in my snowmobile dash storage like the Mini 3 Pro😂

Thanks for comparison, at least we know video from air 3 is over sharpened and looks like from cheap cellphone, thats the big difference between 4/3 from mavic 3 classic

Mini 3 pro is really good and perfect for me. Hassle free. Can fly almost anywhere. And for me image quality is also good. Love it. I don't fly in tree branches so omni direction is not my requirement. Enjoying flying it.

If two different sized drones have the same features, of course you choose the smaller one. But here we have a drone 3 times the size with more features. Well, if size is not a concern then of course the bigger one is better. Heck, buy an aeroplane. But size and cost is the whole point.
Really the Air3 should be compared against the Mavic not the Mini 3. Totally different weight class being sub 250
I'm sticking with the Mini 3 Pro which is far more useable for me being under 250g. The Air 3 would need a bigger sensor & better camera to convince me to buy it.

One factor that is big for me is having active track in vertical mode. I get so frustrated on the Mini 3 Pro when I try to track in vertical and get the message that it's unavailable. I would rather be able to use the suite of tracking features and sacrifice the extra resolution between 2.7 and 4k, so that I can use tracking for social media videos. For me this inability to use tracking in vertical mode negates the advantage of true 4k vertical shooting in the Mini 3 Pro. Unless I'm missing something which is highly likely...
That's strange. I am sure active track in vertical mode is working on my mini 3 pro drone without any issue. In fact I do have a few videos uploaded to my instagram page, where the drone is tracking me and it is in vertical shooting mode.
I need to dig into this and know why mine isn't working. Any time I try to track in vertical is says "tracking inactive while in vertical mode." @@dronevisionair And firmware is current. If you have any tips I'd love to hear them.
Just tested again, message is "unable to use Focus Track in portrait mode." Comes up any time I try it.@@dronevisionair
I'm pretty much struck between the two since we still have a small channel (The Family Pacs) but we want to have a drone that's simple and small as the Mini 3 pro and professional as the Air 3, anyways, Great review!

Im going to get a new drone and the choises are btw a m3pro with fly more pack and the controller with screen or air 3 with the cheaper control and no extra stuff .. altough the mini is much better probably for hiking but i do love new tech and how much faster and stronger it is plus 360 surround stafety and the more color controls.. just Wished it had a 1 inch sensor Cause i Will use it more for photography then filmi
I will not buy the new Air 3 drone. The restrictions in Germany and Europe are too drastic to fly without worries.
The image quality may be better but the drone costs twice as much.
To use it like the Mini 3 Pro I need a drone license and I don't want that.
I am curious if the new RC2 controller will be compatible with the MINI3. I hope DJI releases a firmware update. This is the controller I would buy.

I have the Mavic 3 and the Mini 3 Pro and have ordered the Air 3. I use the RC Pro controller and I'm disappointed that I won't be able to use it with the Air 3, maybe that will change. I'm most likely going to sell the Mini 3 Pro due to its instability in the wind. I live near the ocean and fly in the mountains so I think that the Air 3 will be a better drone in the geographic area I fly in.

Mini 3 Pro! It’s a no brainier! Under 250g you can fly it with very few restrictions in the UK unlike the Air 3. Daren you should make this point abundantly clear! The only place you are allowed in Britain to m fly the Air 3 is in very wide open spaces ie the countryside etc! Yes the Air 3 has lots of tasty features however what’s the point of all this when you are not permitted to fly it in Towns and City’s!😢

Mini 3 anytime the air is too heavy so restrictions are too many and it’s too heavy to carry for long periods when bush walking etc … for most people the mini is the winner every time !

Mini 3 Pro still wins all the way for me with the lack of restrictions it has and I personally haven’t had any problems in the wind and my signal is pretty solid. I do also think you used a poor example of Mini 3 Pro footage at 1.09 minutes of your video. The Mini 3 Pro produces much better video than that.

Air 2s > mini 3 pro and air 3 photographs. So many people look past this strength of the air 2s.
Air 2s is also a good choice depending on who you are and where you live.
Air2s is better if you live by water or any areas where there are high winds , 5.4K resolution allowing you to reframe / crop, dlog m with air 2s, SDK released, + build quality.
Not sure why this guy is such a m3p fanboy and hater of the 2s 😆
With that said the air 3 is absolutely the best of the bunch and well worth the purchase
Mini 3 air pro is good. Until you need to get down to business. The Air 3 is a beast.

Great drone but … just too heavy for everyday. I’d get done if I took off from garden and flew around the neighbourhood with it. For me it’s pointless.
