Sorry I missed this live. Im glad we got some closure regarding The Cars/Discogs situation. Good to know that PayPal and Discogs really dont want to get invloved in these types of disputes. Sellers beware!!! Congrats on your mission to clean your entire collection. 4000 is a good amount. I have been trying to get a hold on mine. Feels like a never ending task. Looks like you and the boys had a good night and 2024. Happy New Year and I wish all a prosperous 2025.
Happy holidays, Chance and team, Be patient for the stuff that is not going to disappear, and hold your knife between your teeth for the real desirable rare invisible stuff : the earth is really small, and about to get more so. Banzaï!
Just spending time upfront to organize will save TONS of time on the back end. Unfortunately I've learned that one the hard way! Happy New Year to you sir!
I really love Arnoldo and mean nothing bad by this but when he said how important it is for him to sell the records he’s not listening to to make room for the ones he does listen to it made a peculiar thought come to my head which is that if you treat your collection like that, than it’s really a Selection, instead of a Collection. A collection of things doesn’t mean you use every one of them especially in the record world. But as I’m typing this I’m remembering he is a big proponent of opening sealed records and in the listen to the records you have camp, which I admittedly am not. But the point is there’s an interesting distinction to be made between people with collections and people with selections, and if one is actually better then the other or if they are simply two different things. I would say audiophiles who never keep sealed records could be considered Selectors instead of Collectors haha!
Not at all. Collections vs Selections is an interesting idea. Not to speak for Arnaldo, but space is a big reason to “fine tune” his collection. I’ve been fortunate to see his room in person, and we all have to do it from time to time - what once made sense at a different time doesn’t make sense (to keep) now; largely driven by space considerations. Or something like that 😜
Great chat to finish 2024 chaps. That Cars debacle is so annoying. The powers that be are just allowing unscrupulous people to cheat and defraud. Think I've said this before 7000+ in my Discogs wants! I'd be taking the Drake back Chance and pointing out the matrix. They should definitely give you at least some store credit as I'm assuming they've not realized it was the 1st press. Good to see you got the Doheny and good effort on the number removal. You just know that ink would have seeped through the tape. I'm like you though....I try and remove all tape, stickers etc. In recent years I got into using acrylic paint on worn seams and spines. The results are pretty impressive imho. I'll send you some images via insta messages. Happy New Year to the Surface Noise crew. Cheers Nige
Careful, 7,000 of anything is too much, the more our options are limited the happier we end up with our final choice, the more options we had the more we doubt our choice
@@arzabael Its purely for reference purposes. I don't buy off Discogs, or very rarely so it's more if I'm out and about and see something I'd potentially be interested in. Lots of obscure stuff from around the world so highly unlikely I ever stumble upon it.
51:25 😂😂😂😂😂 Mr stickermania must have had a crack

Banzai indeed 🎍. Patience is the hardest virtue to demonstrate in today’s culture. Happy Holidays Stunty ✌🏻
The intro had me cracking up ….haha
The unintentional comedy scale was broken! Don't try this at home. 😂

Your process before putting away rings true. Once you get around that 800 album mark it gets really hard to keep them all straight in your head

@ for sure. Thanks man

Oof I hope the first sentence didn’t deter anyone from finishing the comment 😢 I seriously love that guy
