@norwallnorwall366 It has been said that the internet brings out the worst in people. Let's think about this for a second. How do we even know that Mike received a bus-full of these Beatles boxsets in the first place? Is it because Mike told us? And made fun of himself and the situation. Don't act like you discovered this salacious scandal on 60 MINUTES. Second, is it possible that Mike ordered a million of these because he expected them to sell well BECAUSE he expected it to be good? No benefit of the doubt, no quarter, granted, as usual by the faceless, sanctimonious internet goons. Third, are any other reviewers saying this is a surprisingly good release? The only reason I know about it is a bunch of others, including Steve Westman, saying this release sounds amazing. I have no dog in this fight because I already have all the Beatles I need in my collection. So, there, big guy, Mike Esposito is "the worst?" What have you done for us recently? Last but not least, you're 100% a Kamala Harris voter.
The Rhino Devo's 'Freedom of Choice' destroys; soundstage just grows in detail with more power! Ty for always keeping us in the know on analogue sourced pressings - stoked for the Doors' single lp's next month.
9X in the first 6 n a half minutes...but it is way too early in the A.M. for this exercise! And it's his most oft used descriptor word I think--all good.
Good selection Mike and thanks for the heads up on C S & N release- the local record store has knocked $80 off the One Step version but now I will go for the Analogue Productions version. Happy New Year and look forward to more of your good clips in 2025
I remember having the same reaction to the Booker Ervin in 2005, when Blue Note issued it on cd as part of the Connoisseur Series ... nice to finally see a vinyl release ... a fantastic album.
As a huge fan of The Doors, I was very tempted to buy that box set. I opted for the AP/QRP LA Woman UHQR instead. I have no regrets. Happy New Year to you and your family, Mike! 👍👍👍
I wish you had mentioned the Anthony Wilson / Hackensack West first (even as an honorable mention), because it's probably the most appealing to me (I love all those great reissues, but how many times must I buy Getz Gilberto in this lifetime exactly)
Has anyone put out Spirit - The Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus on one of these hi-fi reissues? I have it from an 80's press which sounds really good for what it is, I cannot imagine how much more they could 'improve' on it. Cheers!
I have the original stereo pressing on the yellow Epic - 12 Dreams is one of my favorite albums that is a totally unique psych/folk album - would love to see it reissued so others would have it available
I bet that live Talking Heads disk is at 45. Remember the show from 77 that was released last regular record store day, that was also at 45. I’m wondering if it might be the same show?
When you got to the Booker Ervin Tone Poet I thought, "Booker Ervin? I don't remember that one!" Sure enough... I don't have it. I don't know how I missed it, but I WILL be ordering it later this week! thanks...
Was so glad to see the Beatles Mono Box in there. I wanted to hate it, but it won me over and I'm glad it did. Another Rhino Hi-Fi for me is "The Stooges" S/T. I have the Black Sabbath and I think this one matched it or even possibly edged it out as far as blowing my mind! 2024 had a lot of good stuff.
How do you know a release is “analog” (other than age of recording). Do you mean it was originally recorded to tape and pressed? I’d love to know a source where such info in available without scouring the internet
Thanks for the video some great titles, one thing I'm not a big fan of the Black Sabbath pressing, too bright to my ears, the extra topend brings the cymbals out too much which I don't think suits it but I'm glad most people dig it
Another great video Mike! Thanks! Just FYI whatever generates the subtitle text has a glitch at around 28.47 (the end of the CSN section) and it reads " mastered and cut to lacquer from the original Master tape so it's all anal" ... it misses the "og" ! LOL!
Top 3 vinyl 2024: 1) Anne Wilson - Rebel - nothing else even close 2) Dylan live 1974 Third Man Vault - incredible live set 3) Christopher Cross Christmas - best RSD release of Year ( yes better than anything from Spring RSD) Best vinyl debut - Stella Cole
It was. Everything from 77 through Speaking in Tongues is AAA cut by Kevin Gray or Chris Bellman. One of many Rhino titles that's AAA but not advertised as such, a phenomenon that Mike has talked about in past videos. Having said that: When it comes to those long in print Talking Heads reissues, the Bellman titles sound better than the titles cut on Gray's old system.
The Talking Heads CBGB'S- great show, then saw them at the Capitol Theatre, Passiac NJ. The latter was better - the former's single use bathroom was a challenge.
Mike, get a job at Apple! Butcher Cover for RSD. Great idea. One commenter on this video suggested the other US albums will come out with a box set exclusive being the Butcher Cover. Home Run. That's a 2025 Grand Slam!
Hmm... a Reel To Reel player... and the Beatles... Please be so kind to tell us, if you play "All Together Now" BACKWARDS on your Reel To Reel, can you really hear "I buried Paul" over and over?
My fav best sounding record is Reve. Gary Davis' Harlem Street Singer on Bluesville, followed by Billy Holiday's Body & Soul, but I have not heard the new Miles or the Getz/Gilberto. The new With The Beatles betters my OG mono, much better bass and much louder too.
The Mofi 1S CSN was dreadful. A US mid 70s G Piro is fab, but I love the 45 rpm. The Talking Head RSD live was 45 RPM. I have the original Sire. Can’t wait for the Doors individual as I have all of them on the AP45 - buying debut and LA W
If you don't like having to get up to change sides on the 45 rpm releases, that's what record changers are for. I use a Technics designed/made DD record changer. It will stack up to 6 records. There is nothing revolutionary about the CSN "couch" album. The master discs which were used were originally made for Classic Records. Having both the Classic Records and the Analogue Productions 45 rpm albums, the CR version is quieter because a higher quality vinyl was used. If you think that 45 rpm discs are inconvenient, the CR version was pressed on 4 one-sided 12" discs. lol I didn't buy the 1964 Beatles in mono box, but I bought the individual titles. I already have and have heard "The Beatles Story", so I didn't feel the need to spend $130. more for the box. What I noticed about the individual albums is several have a click just before the first song starts on 2 or 3 of the albums. OK. The deal about these albums was this is the way most of us first heard The Beatles. I had the "Meet The Beatles" album when it first came out. It was mono. I didn't have a stereo at the time, just a Silvertone portable record player. Later I got the stereo version and wasn't quite as happy with it, after I got my first stereo. These mono re-issues bring back fond memories.
@@SPAZZOID100 Never had any of my record changers destroy records. Currently I use 3 record changers. My Technics has a universal interchangeable headshell and I use a variety of different cartridges. Currently I am using a Shure M97xe cartridge. My ADC Accutrac +6 programmable changer, which gently lowers each record. It is also using a Shure M97xe. My recently acquired Garrard Zero200B has a Shure V15 cart. All track at 2g or less. How are these going to destroy records? Heck, my 1965 Silvertone portable stereo's record changer, which I had when I was a kid, never destroyed a record. I still have all the records I ever played on it and all play and look like new. The changer in my 1969 RCA Victor console stereo never destroyed a record. My Seeburg HSC 3 console stereo is the gentlest changer of any of them. It holds 50 LP's, and gently rolls each one in and out of the vertical turntable. It uses a Pickering cartridge which tracks at 2.5g. Now if you are thinking of a regular Voice of Music record changer, I would agree with you. Their professional series record changers were state-of-the-art and were very gentle on records.
I wish more records got the low fidelity recording treatment of the first Sabbath record because whether it’s a vertigo, a WB green or the new Rhino High Fidelity the vast majority of albums don’t sound as good as that one does.
Have to say you are an excellent and to my mind honest reviewer. I see a VR from you in my notifications and the day gets better. You also look slimmer and happier in your new life. Happy Hogmanay.
I agree about being surprised INXS Kick its easily the best version of it and one of the best from the atl75 series. Rhino hifi series all great, one of the best i think from that series is the Van Morrison His Band and the Street Choir. The new Beatles Mono was a really nice surprise, I’ve got The Early Beatles and Something New so far, but think I’ll get more of them. I do love my Doors box set too.

I just often think, when I listen to the music from that time, there's just so much better! But yes, nice for the Bittels...
I have heard a rumour that the two albums by Jimmy Page & Robert Plant - No Quarter & Walking Into Clarksdale are going to be reissued finally after all these years. Is it true, anybody knows anything about that??? Mike, you know something about that? Thanks...
Mike's just trying to push that Beatles box because he has a warehouse full of them! 🤣
Came to the comments to say that exact thing. 🤣 🤣 🤣

So glad Devo's on the list. It's a killer release and sounds completely amazing.
Rhino HiFi series has been outstanding so far.
Some would even say “Fantastic!”
Hey Mike thanks for sharing your input on those vinyl's. I been listening to vinyl for over 50 years and still learning.
The Rhino Devo's 'Freedom of Choice' destroys; soundstage just grows in detail with more power! Ty for always keeping us in the know on analogue sourced pressings - stoked for the Doors' single lp's next month.
That's great cos those early Devo albums sounded like mud.
My 2025 prediction. Beatles 65-66 US Box set. Butcher cover as the box set exclusive
I was thinking the exact same thing
How many times can this guy say fantastic in the same video?

He’s just fantastic!
Not as much as Vinyl Richie
A fantastic amount of times.
In his defense, he is on a fantastic UA-cam channel.
Like many, I couldn't afford any of those records. Thankfully, I own original first pressings of the ones I want.

thanks Mike, looking forward to a great year of releases, keep the videos coming:)
How about top 10 analog records of 2024 under $30?
Great list. The Getz/Gilberto 1Step was a home run. I also enjoy so many releases mastered by Kevin Gray. He does such a great job. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year. I hope you’re adapting well in Florida.
So cool they put your initials on the LA Women dead wax!

Beatles & Doors - great year for analog record re-releases.
The Atlantic 75 pressing of the Velvet Underground’s Loaded is incredible. Would have been great to see it on this list.

So glad to see Hot Buttered Soul in there, it’s the only craft OneStep I have and so glad I picked it up because it is killer.
What? No ERC release in this top 10???😅😅
Great list! The Gandalf RSD all analog release was a great one as well.

In a blind test, 90% of audiophiles couldn't tell the difference between analog or digital.

Hey mike please reply to this comment I need to know what color the LP is of the Don't smile at me vinyl before your holiday sale ends.
My parents had Getz/Gilberto back in 1964. It sure has come a long way in the last 60 years.
Question for you, the record sleeves, what do you recommend? I'm assuming the MoFi sleeves, but wanted to check
How does the Doors 2024 box set compare to the similar 2008 box set which also included the mono version of thier first lp?
