Great vid man. I was the guy was lost the sturgeon. Definitely disappointing but that’s fishing. Hopefully next time you guys make the drive you can hook up on some Kings and cohos. Eggs, especially skein will almost guarantee catch . Happy fishing
Nice video🐟 this weekend should be good for the Salmon. At the homestead dam they’re moving the 100ft. Mark to 300ft. Below the dam. We won’t be able to fish the “GAUNTLET “ anymore. The new protected spawning grounds.
I can't imagine fishing shoulder to shoulder like that, especially when people get all competitive. Seems like it would ruin the fun a bit. You got some awesome footage though, maybe next time you'll get to show us a Salmon you catch. Sweet!
Evan Slaton I hope I get one next time too lol 90% of the time I fish alone on a stretch of river with no other people on it. 5% of the time with a buddy and the other %5 a spot with half a dozen fisherman spread out a bit. This experience was weird my buddy kinda hated it from the get go cause of the jerk that ran us off our spot because we were “doing it wrong”. That’s not fishing in my book but darn it I love catching salmon lol Thanks for watching!
@@ReelMichiganAnglers Yeah I've heard it gets nutty like that, really turns me off to the idea. Can't imagine someone telling me I'm fishing wrong, they would be in for a surprise. Still I'd like to get in on that Salmon/Steelhead action one of these days. Maybe I'll get lucky once.
I won a 2 person guided trip on Lake St. Clair and I can't really use it. And a brand new Okuma Telescopic Muskie Rod. How can I contact you? I was hoping to gift it to you.
See that You're in Lansing. I'm currently studying Fisheries and Wildlife at MSU! Coho are up to Portland now in decent numbers, pulled out a steelhead, and 2 coho on the 16th! Not as far of a drive from Lansing and it's not so crowded also. Water is pretty low so you can wade most of the water there too.
@@ReelMichiganAnglers Yeah, I've had bad luck there as well until last week. I've been waiting for them to hit Lansing, I want to catch one in the red cedar before I graduate!
I work in Frandor so I have fished the cedar 3-5 times a week for like 6 years lol not hardly at all since the covid shutdown. I’ve been itching to hit it myself lately.
ken mcdonald yeah the water was actually pretty low while we were there and it was a rough weighed with higher water that place could easily be very dangerous.
It's a shame that some people tend to lose their sense of decency when fishing at places like 6th Street, the Allegan Dam, Berrien Springs, etc. I guess the opportunity to catch a big fish brings out the worse in some humans. Fortunately the majority of people are just fine.
Michael Kolacz yea it’s a bummer for sure. It only takes a handful of jerks to ruin it for everyone else. I had a few good interactions as well though.
Flossing is technically not fishing. Its just a way of getting around the law that states the rules on hook size and where the fish can be hooked to be legal. If the fish didn't take the lure, its foul hooked in my book!
Thanks! 98% of the time I done mention the body of water let alone specific location but I make the exception for famous fishing destinations.if I don’t others will otherwise
@@neekmen603 I’ve heard some really good things about fishing in Kalkaska. I can’t remember the names of the rivers but there’s supposed to be some pretty good salmon and steelhead fishing in that area. Keep me posted if you find some good spots I’d like to try that out sometime up there.
@@twistedstemsfarmms572 Moores Dam in Lansing is the last stop however if they backtrack just a quarter-mile they can run up the red cedar which they often do I’ve heard they go as far as Williamston of the red cedar. I’ve seen them in there myself never caught one in there though.
Those fish don't live in that water. They are just passing through and perfectly fine to eat. I bet you just heard that somewhere and just repeating it in an attempt to convince people you know what your talking about. Clearly you don't...
I like wading as well. I have an artificial knee so it keeps me outta fast deep water like at the 6th st dam. 50yrds downstream I can handle the current but up by the dam I'm done in an hour and hurting for days. I had a really bad experience in fast deep water on Muskegon river. I went by the dam and talked to a couple guys and they were hitting good on spawn. That centerpin you have will be great for drifting bags.
Joshua Vanderschaaf yea I’m Gonna drift some bags next time I go out. When I got out of the water at 6th I had to sit immediately cause my legs were toast. It’s not so bad till your legs tire out then it gets dangerous fast.
thanks for the video.....heading north to Frankfort and the Platte tomorrow....thanks for showing the 6th street coho's!!!
Jim Powers I’m also going to Frankfort in 2 weeks I believe. Good luck and thanks for watching!

kennedy biriouk thanks for being one of the nice guys. I heard somebody got shot later that day...
Reel Michigan Anglers I also heard that. The crime in the area has been unreal lately so I’m not surprised.
kennedy biriouk it was a fishing fight and one guy followed the other back to his car and shot him... i may not be back to 6th lol
Loved this, thank you!
My pleasure thank you for watching!
I’m going to have to try down at the Grand River. Never been there.
Daniel Mckinney it’s not the same as the cooler rivers to the north. It’s it’s own special animal. Longest river in Michigan.

I live in Holland and I been trying the rabbit river/ Hamilton danm for the last 3 years and no luck. Are they still running this time of year?
Yeah the grand river has a lot of fish right now.
Hey when do you think the cohos will be up near the Portland and Weber dam
Trippin on Finesse I read that as Covid as opposed to Coho lol they should be in that area by the weekend with all this rain we’re getting.
I was at Webber and Portland this morning ant there not in yet.
Someone caught one at Weber Dam on September 12th of last year

Nicholas Harris spawn bags and beads.

Isn't the river disgusting in the city ?
Tinfoil hat stoner I don’t think it’s terrible but the salmon are all healty fish running up the river from Lake Michigan to spawn.
It’s not disgusting overall. There are only minor water quality problems because it runs through Lansing.

I don’t disagree. I would much rather catch one on a spinner or float fishing anyway. Takes more skill and is more ethical.
Wheres some good spots to fish im in the metro Detroit area
