Paracord wrap your stock, side folder & underfolder. VZ-58, AK47, Type 81.

- It'll work on most side folding stocks especially on VZ58 which gotta be the most uncomfortable folder ever made, the sharp edges will punish your cheek with each recoil. Easy DIY, attractive, durable and interlocking, it won't unravel, also protect your cheek from the metal.
Do not to over tighten, give a little bit of slack to allow for the ends to go under and lock in place also spray water to loosen up the threads to undo it.

Just applied this method to my Arsenal Sam 7SF. Turned out pretty good. Just to be on the safe side i used 20’ of cord and it turned out that I only had to cut off just a few inches both ends.

Older video, but if you have a VZ-58 you need to look into the Bone Steel Arms side folding Galil stock. It's a huge improvement over the VZ stock and is priced right. I bought the NATO length and it's about 1/2 longer than the VZ.
i've sold bonesteel an underfolder stock for vz58 before he started his company. that gotta be over 15 years ago.
i can do better than his galil. i'd combined the VZ58 side folder with vz58 wood and bakelite stocks. check it out. ua-cam.com/video/zouZZ-ZNhu4/v-deo.html

Best way to finish cut and sear paracord is actually with a soldering iron. This gives you a precise sear cut without over burn or casualty collateral burn a flame is very susceptible to do, fire is rather greedy and unpredictable.
good suggestion but to those who dont own a soldering iron, we do with what we have. lol

I wonder if you could put a small piece of foam tubing and wrap over that, would it stay in place, hmmmmm?
like a copper pipe foam insulation? that will work but you might have to slice it thinner and best to tape it from falling out.

If you use a bone steel Galil stock with the cheek padding on your AK you almost have to use this method or other method but the alternating 1/2 hitch wrap as this video shows is really the only way to prevent unraveling. Just put the tension ends in the open channel otherwise you won’t get a nice tight lock

Hi! Just bought a Chinese AK Underfolder from SDM. What Paracord do you prefer? Is a Type III 550 too thick to operate the Stock afterwards? All the best from 🇦🇹
There should be lots of room using the 550 on the left side.

What diameter did you use ?
Paracord or 550 cord is rated min. 550 lbs breaking strength , diameter is 5/32" or 4mm.
