This channel just inspired me - our new puppy chewed an 8 foot tall ginko in half over winter. It's now about a foot tall, but just put out three very angry little leaves near the base. The tree was going to be a centerpiece in the back yard but now I think I'll plant something a few feet over and turn this stumped little ginko into an in-ground bonsai. Presuming my wife and I don't have to move for med school.
That's the worst part about moving, leaving behind the trees and plants I picked so carefully. A coral bark maple, my cherries, my tea camillas, a gorgeous 80 year old Holly with a ten inch trunk. I really want to learn and succeed in propagating trimmings from them all, to take with me.
No magic involved just knowledge and correct method to air layer, truly amazing, Josh has been trained by you and now he is the expert in the method of air layering trees. Thank you for your valuable experience Peter.
Nice one Sifu Chan, my man.
Thank you Peter. I was curious if you have the plan to post a video of your stay in the Netherlands by Lodder lately? Have a good day, Ashwin

_THANK YOU_ ... 🙏😔🙏
Dr. Chan, it is so nice to see you "harvesting" your airlayering. And further, to see you getting 100% propogation, that is amazing. I liked that you did not start wiring the new trees, I like to let them get rooted in their new home for a while. I am really enjoying 2023.
🙏 🖖 🙏 😔 🙏
I always like your perceptive feed back.
@@peterchan3100 I am humbled... 🙏 😔 🙏
We think alike on many things...
I hurt my left thumb earlier, I haven't been able to do "fine" things. It is about 70% healed, I will be participating in the discussions more as it heals. Amazingly, I am right handed.

Hey Peter, Awesome video. When is the best time to cut a Maple air layering from the parent plant? Also is it a bad idea to attempt air layerings across multiple branches at once? Thanks!
We start from mid April to mid August for Maples
I had a few airlayerings die on me, they did rooted good and potted up, but after a while they died, roots got rotten. I left the moss ball, but I guess they left to wet?
@peterchan - thank you for all your videos! When you set up the air layerings. Do you check the moisture in the mossball frequently? Thank you for answering 😍
So long as you tie the plastic bag tight - no moisture will be lost - so you dont need to check for moisture. Makes sense ?
Of course! Thank you for answering!
Fascinating as always, thank you for uploading! 👍👍
I was wondering if you could possibly do a video sometime on the process of taking a air layering cutting and getting it to grow over a rock or piece of drift wood.
I looked to see if you've covered this in a prior video but I didn't see any.
star new to pirates see already trees very good ideas because they people lome already picture people turning around see pirates to different Business to natural inches house no bay already 😂thank you for good advice kupchak 🥰🥰
Hey Peter can we get a update video on the English Field Maple turtle back you were working on last year.
What is the company that produces the sphagnum moss? I would like to see if I could find it in the states.
Comes from New Zealand. You won't be able to import it if you live in US. I am sure you can get it in USA. It grows around ponds and lakes
🌳👍
Peter, do you remove the sphagnum at any stage when repotting? I heard somewhere that in the long run the sphagnum can rot and potentially cause root problems.
Never do that. as the roots will break when you remove the moss. Moss is natural stuff and does not cause root problems - in fact it promotes root growth - who told you that misinformation ??
Hmmm I don't understand why Josh is not a paid employee
He seems to be a large part of the Herons operation
He is a top top Tree surgeon and he loves his main job. Bonsai is just a hobby for him.
👍👌👌🙂🙂
In Sweden...I have a big 2 meter birch one big and 4 smaller in balcony box, they found the soil themself and I have only fed them water. Need to cut them down. Who can I contract to make them beautiful? 🙏
