I know Sirui just announced their new Anamorphic Autofocus lenses, but this 85mm F1.4 Full-frame portrait lens is still pretty dang cool! 😆 What do you think?
Sirui lenses are always well-built, but I’ve been eyeing the TTArtisan 75mm f/2 for its compact size. I’m wondering how the two compare for someone who shoots on the go.
Odd you mention the focus issue. I currently run a Sigma Art 85mm F1.4 but A mount on a E mount adapter and that is the only issue I have encountered. For me if I switch to MF on the lens switch then back to AF then it will not focus, I have to turn the camera off and back on or remove the lens and reinstall it.
Maybe it needs a firmware update. Also I tried the 33mm 1.2 sniper series. It wasn't as nice as sigma 30mm. Kind of makes me a iffy about his lens. Think I will wait see how it evolves.
The Sirui looks impressive, but for me, the TTArtisan 75mm f/2 has been more practical. It’s smaller and easier to carry around, especially when traveling. Sharpness-wise, I’ve been really happy with it on my Sony.
Great video! I had a question regarding which lenses you’d recommend for the Sony ZVE-10? I’m at the very beginning of my film making journey and that’s the cam I’m going with after some heavy research. Would this aurora lens work with that camera? And do you think that camera is a good beginner choice in your experience? I’m also on a budget so I was looking at the sigma lenses. Thanks.
That camera is a great choice! I’ve been tempted to get one myself! 👏 Regarding what lens you should get, I don’t think you need to spend for this lens. Those APS-C sigma lenses would be a great option and they’re half the price, especially since you are just starting out! You could also look at the Sniper lenses from sirui or the Nightwalker lenses! Another great option for video would be some SLR Magic cine lenses, I have a few of them and I LOVE using those lenses! They are fully manual cine lenses though.

Please make comparison with meike 85mm f1.4 and sony 85mm 1.8 for almost same price range
Steven Leong also did a really honest review of this lens. I’ll save up for the sigma
He messed up the comparison.
Great review, I had NO idea they have released a new lens. Always love third party lenses for their characteristics. Thanks man
Definitely has some great characteristics, a good budget lens! 👍

I’ve heard great things about that lens! Might have to try it out! 👌

@ Awesome! I’ll check those out. Thanks so much 💯
Or buy a Samyang V-AF auto-focus cine lens
